Chapter 3

The next day, despite all of the damage and fatigue he's taken, Alfred woke up in the morning.

His body is full of bandages that Ms. Linda puts for his bruises.

Damn it.

My body hurts all over.

It feels like I'm in the training again.

Ms. Linda was cooking breakfast in the kitchen.

When she saw Alfred going out of his room, she slowly walked towards him with a smile.

"Good morning, Alfred. Thank you for what you did. We just met the other day, but you're doing all the for me. But are you sure you should be getting up now? You should rest more."

"No. Those thugs pissed me off, so I just crushed them. And I'm fine. Thank you for tending to my wounds."

Ms. Linda tapped my shoulders as she gets her face closer to me.

Then she gripped my shoulder as hard as she can.

"Oh? So you're fine now? Then start explaining yourself, and do something about our house, damn brat!!!"

Crap!

I forgot about the rage of Ms. Linda.

Damn.

What should I do?

At this rate, she'll kill me.

"C-Calm down, Ms. Linda. I'll explain later, I'm wounded right now. If you grip like that..."

"Oh? What do you mean later? Start explaining now, damn it! You're fine now, right? You defeated that boss, so this should be nothing for you, right?"

Then she gripped even harder.

As I was screaming in pain, Yin gets out of his room.

"So noisy. Don't you know that it's still early in the morning? Ah! What the hell is this?! What the hell happened here?!"

"Oh! Good morning, Yin. Can you turn off the stove and prepare our food while this idiot is explaining himself?"

Yin did quickly what his terrifying sister said.

As Yin was doing that I started apologizing then explaining what really happened.

"I see. So that's what happened. It's nice that those collectors are gone and all but, what are you gonna do with our house. What's the point of the collectors gone if we have no place to live, huh?!!"

"W-Well. About that, um... I still have money enough for fixing your house. So let's use that."

Ms. Linda smiled approvingly.

After we ate, we spent the whole day fixing their house.

Then the next day, my daily life continued.

So I go to Plaza.

"The weather is nice, isn't it?"

The man waiting at the door acting as a guard replied,

"I'm sorry, Mr. customer, but you have no reservation for today."

"Don't worry about it because I'm only here to play."

After the guard realized that the code was correct, he showed me the right entrance.

If the code given to him is wrong, he will open the door behind him, which leads to a room where torturers are waiting to question you.

After entering, an escort is waiting.

"I came here to play at the Guild."

After hearing that, she leads me to the Guild, a room where you can pay for any information or get all sorts of dirty jobs.

The Guild is like a literal guild in any fantasy comic.

Where the people are looking for jobs or drinking.

After sitting down at the reception desk,

"Yo, William. You're working hard as always."

William is the receptionist at the Guild.

He is handling all of the jobs request and all of the sold and bought information.

While he is wiping off the glass,

"Oh. Alfred. Long time no see. You didn't come here for two days and just suddenly become the strongest in Mestone, huh. You've grown so much."

"W-Well I have a reason for that. As expected of the information broker. You sure get information quickly."

Then he extended his hands under the table and gets the photo of my next target.

"Of course, I am. By the way here. your next target."

The next target is a drug dealer.

He belongs to Reaper's Nest.

The biggest syndicate in Lebrycg City, which is the city where I live.

Following him to the alley where his buyer is waiting, my strike begins.

Coming from above them and slashing the buyer first.

Then rendered the dealer incapacitated, and ask him about their syndicate.

According to the information he's given, their syndicate consists of more than ten thousand members.

They have three other syndicate affiliates around the world that have almost a hundred thousand combined.

Which makes them the biggest not only in Lebrygc but in the whole world today.

The dealer only knows their numbers, but not their main base of operations, or any other information about their leaders.

Only the top brass from their syndicates know.

It's the same information as what the Guild has.

So that's why the Guild doesn't know much about the syndicate.

The information's only limited to their trusted leaders, huh.

Damn, this could be troublesome.

Interesting.

No matter how big your group is, I'll just wipe it out just like always.

"Thanks for the useless information. But unfortunately, you have to die here. I'm sorry. I hope you understand."

Just before my knife reached his throat, footsteps were slowly coming to us from the right.

"So the killer here in Lebrycg is just a mere brat. Good grief, so you're the one who's been giving us headaches all this time."

The man stopped beside the remains of the buyer.

"Now then, brat. Be nice and come with me. You're under arrest for multiple counts of murder."

Strong.

This man is, without a doubt, strong.

He's so much stronger than Arthur.

No. Not even close.

It's easy to tell because of experience that this man is not someone you can mess with, that easily.

But it won't be easy to run away from him.

What should I do?

Should I call for assistance while buying time?

While thinking my thoughts and coming up with a plan,

"What do you mean, killer, old man? You have no proof that I'm the one doing the other killings, you know?" While retaining my composure.

"You brat! Still acting innocent in this situation. Do you really think that our intelligence bureau is only a group of idiots that they'll overlook something simple? Listen, damn brat. If you don't want the police to get your trails, be sure to clean up more properly."

And while unsheathing his sword from the right side and ready to restrain me, a smoke bomb exploded between us, making my escape.

John and I flee towards one of our hiding spots to hide from the cop.

"That was close. I thought I was going to die. As expected, John. You're fast to respond as always."

John is also working in the Guild.

If you pay him handsomely, he will make any request to him.

He's the greatest asset in the Guild that you could wish for.

But one thing I don't like about him is...

"Hmph. Enough with the flattery and just pay me. That cost 5 million."

"That high?! Screw that! All you did this time was just throw a smoke bomb. Why is the charge so high?"

"I have a busy schedule today, but you said you need me as soon as possible. So I rushed to you, and to my disappointment. Why would you need to escape from just one cop? So I want extra pay for wasting my time."

"Huh?! What do you mean by "just one cop"? You were not the one in front of him, so you won't understand. That guy is a monster. One wrong move and my head would roll on the floor."

"That's unlike you. For you to be so afraid of someone. Anyway, I'm out of here. I still have other works to do. I better see later your pay on my account. Bye!"

Man~

What a rough day today.

Almost dying because a monster showed up while doing my work.

And what's more that damn John charged me too much.

Might as well head home and just chill today.

The next day I decided to go to the Plaza to get some information about that cop and get my next target.

"Yo, William. You're working hard as always."

"Oh, Alfred. I could say the same to you. You're here every day to get a new job." He said while wiping a wine glass.

"Of course. There's nothing to do anyway. But I also came here to buy information."

He showed the photo of my next target and gave the information about him.

After that, William pours my usual drink in a glass and offered it to me, and said,

"Oh? That's unusual for you to buy information. What information do you want?"

After drinking,

"I want information about a strong cop. I encountered him while doing my recent job, so I don't know what his name is. Can I see the photos of a strong cop that you know of? If I see him, I'll know immediately."

William paused for a moment and had a worried look on his face.

Then he grabbed a picture under the desk.

"Is this the one you are talking about?"

"Yes, that's right. He was the cop that I encountered. Tell me what you know about him."

William replied with a soft and serious tone,

"It's better for you not to get involved with this person, Alfred."

"I know that. We didn't even fight, but I understood how terrifying that person is. If not for John, I would have been detained right now or worst..."

"Oh! So even the legendary Alfred would worry for his life."

"Shut up."

"Be sure to pay later, okay?"

"I understand. I'll send it to your account later."

William gave me the information about the cop.

His name is Alexander.

He's the captain of the first division of the Absolute Defense Bureau.

He's also the strongest cop in our city and is famous to other neighboring cities.

He's also involved in the Maggath City incident.

The incident where the Psycho Sinister crime syndicate in Maggath City was wiped out.

Psycho Sinister was one of the most dangerous crime syndicates in history.

They do all sorts of crimes there is.

They're so dangerous that even the Maggath government was overthrown by them.

Maggath City used to be a peaceful place.

But after their syndicate had grown, it became a lawless city where syndicates could roam around freely.

It was Alexander who wiped out the entire syndicate by himself.

But this information is only known to the bureau and other informants.

The bureau announced to the public that it was their entire force that put an end to the syndicate.

Thus, gaining more trust from the people of Lebrycg.

Some officials are involved in a syndicate, after all.

Though Alexander is a captain, he always acts as he wants and leaves his duties to Harriet, his vice-captain.

Because of his strength, even the higher-ups couldn't do anything about the way he works.

Only giving him missions from time to time that a regular cop can't do.

He's investigating big syndicates to put an end to them.

Is that why he's there, even if the dealer is at the bottom of the ladder.

No, that's not it.

Based on what he said, could it be...?

Better be careful not to run into him during my work.

Other information about him is where he lives, his daily routines, and different kinds of stuff.

With a nervous grin on my face,

"So that cop is really bad news. It was the right choice to run after all."

"That's right. You should be careful, Alfred. Since I've known you for so long, I have free info for you. You should lie low for a while. Because the bureau has its eyes on you. Well, not really you but the killer of Lebrycg. What's more, what you did in Mestone. You know what I'm getting at, right? They might get into you sooner or later."

"Yeah. I understand. I'll be careful from now on. See ya, William."

After leaving, a lady gets her usual drinks from William.

"Heh~ So that is the rumored legendary Alfred. What a cute young boy. It must be nice, living freely in your youth. Makes me want to devour him."

William glared at the lady,

"Oi. Don't you dare touch him! If you do, I won't show mercy even at you."

"Yeah, yeah. I understand. You're always like that. You're always looking for someone to pamper, but where did they all end up? You even almost forgot that your cute little sister."

The lady finished her drink and left, while William stares at her.
