Chapter 3 - Awaken, Little White

Red closed his eyes to calm down. He relaxed his body. All the thoughts in his mind disappeared one by one. The beating of his heart slowed down as he felt a unique feeling that he only felt for the first time, tranquility.

The tear in his soul that is just recently mended still has marks, but at this moment a mark in the soul that is hard to remove is starting to disappear at a rapid pace.

As it disappears, Red can once hear a tearing sound from his soul, and the tearing this time is twice more intense than the previous.

At the moment in the foggy place, Red's glabella suddenly shines a piercing crimson light and starts 'absorbing' Red's reflection in front of him. Little by little the reflection is becoming fainter as time passes by and after a while, it completely disappeared but the crimson light did not disappear it shines even more.

"Congratulations to your awakening RED," the reflection mumbled before it fades into nothingness.

If Red were to open his eyes at the moment, one can see the crimson light within. From the glabella to the eyes, the crimson light penetrates Red's Soul and spreads into the tears that have just been opened. Seemingly infected, Red's soul also turned crimson, the crimson light then fades and disappears, slowly Red's soul seemed to digest and absorb the crimson light and return to normal. The tears have been mended as if they never existed before.

Red snapped his eyes open, He can see a spring with glowing water and an oversized white 'bird'.

Yes, a 'bird', of course from the perspective of Red, for this bird is none other than the Jade White Eagle King.

*whoooooosh*

A chilling wind blew and Red felt goosebumps, at this moment he was sure that he was back in reality.

The 'bird' felt the gaze of Red. It looked back at him affectionately. Strangely enough, Red can feel the affection of the 'bird'.

He looked around and realized that there is no one except the both of them. He wondered, why does he always ends up in a place foreign to him. The first one, in a foggy place. Then, here again.

He moved closer to the 'bird' and attempted to touch it. Surprisingly before his hand could touch the 'bird', it already moved its head towards Red's hand.

Red talks to the bird as he felt a closeness with it, "What is your name birdie?"

"Do you want me to give you a name?"

Surprisingly enough, the bird made a *gou gou* sound and nodded its head.

The Jade White Eagle King is not a king for no reason, it's intelligent. Not only did it save Red, but it has also seen something in him that caught its interest.

"Hmmm, though you are big I will call you 'Little White' "

As Little White heard his name and Red's remark, he suddenly glowed and shrank into the size of a regular eagle.

Red was stunned and speechless.

It seems that Little White can change size at will.

Red petted Little White's head.

*growl*

Little White looked at Red as he heard his stomach complain in hunger.

Little White returned to his original size. He looked at Red with longing eyes as he seemed to be asking Red to ride on his back.

Red understood what Little White meant and rode excitedly. Although he knows that it'll be hard for Little White, he thinks that there'll be no problem as they are not going up but they are going down.

Little White opened his majestic and flapped them elegantly as they swooped down.

Reds were amazed, the mountain peak they were in is indeed very high, it is a good hiding place and can be a good home, of course, it is a good home for those that have wings like Little White's.

They fly at a high speed but Red knows that in consideration to himself Little White reduced his speed by a great margin. In truth, the speed of Little White was not even one-third the speed of his top speed.

As Little White is an intelligent beast, it knows that Red cannot withstand his high speed as he cannot sense mana in Red's body as Red has not yet learned magic.

Of course, those that have learned magic have stronger bodies than those who haven't. Because in order to use magic you need to be able to store mana in your body. But storing mana is not an easy task because mana tends to destroy the body and corrupt the soul.

Although it is risky to learn magic, it is also worth it as it will let you ascend from the level of mortals.

An hour has passed since they started to descend and Red has been pondering to himself about the foggy place. How did he end up there and what is the reflection that he met?

Then he realized that there are fragments of knowledge and talent that he knew but he didn't before he fell unconscious.

He discovered that he can tell time. He can tell how long it has been, or rather, he can calculate time. He knows how long till sunset and how long it has been since sunrise. Though minor, what miraculous about it is that he can do it instinctively. Just like how you can hear all kinds of sounds even if you don't want to, the only difference is that it is in terms of time.

Though Red has not realized it yet, this is very important during battles. Imagine being able to calculate the time of your every action and the action of the enemy, if you are good it might even be close to foresight. as you can calculate when the attack will land and when will your opponent complete its preparation. It can be also considered as a weaker version. if foresight.

At the moment of realization, Red was wondering if this talent was from the foggy place or if it really was innate to him. Though he did not want to admit it, he also cannot deny the possibility.

He was thinking, "if this is all I got from the foggy place then the foggy place is not as great as I thought."

If his reflection was heard this he might have coughed blood in anger and disappointment.

From the calculation of Red, it has been four hours since they Started flying down. Little did he know that if Little White is flying in a straight line as they go down, they might have already landed. Little White is actually looking for a suitable city for Red to learn magic according to his memory and instinct.
