[Rewrite] Chapter 2: Omens

Through the harrowing front gate, the stench of the bitter detergent spread outwards but never far. For an asylum, it was rather devoid of stains unlike the movies present most of them to be. The crew faced the ominously dim hallways with nothing but the guns in their hands.

Just as they were about to open the lights, thunder abruptly roared from the outside. The light poles on the streets went out briefly after the flash of light. Inside the building, the bulbs were just as inoperable.

“Fucking great.” Torres’ shoulder dropped. “How come that there’s no people inside?”

Everybody already knew it was strange. However, it was even more bizarre to realize that even though a loud noise just reverberated throughout the town, not a single cry of the patients could be heard.
