The Rise Of Evil

Frank felt like he was in a dream, his best friend who he had been conversing with since today had suddenly been swallowed by the ground, but how was that even possible? It looked bizarre to see the ground suddenly open up and then seal back up as nothing happened.

"No, no, no!!" Frank kept hitting the ground.

"Hey calm down or you are going to attract everyone here," Christiana said.

"How do you want me to calm down when Carl just got swallowed by the ground?"

"I'm just saying crying won't cut anything."

Frank gave her a scornful look, even in times like this she was finding means to annoy him.

"How can nature be so harsh?" Frank cried."Why did it have to be Carl?"

"What happened to Carl now?"

Frank brought his ears closer to the ground thinking that was where Carl's voice was coming from.

"Idiot, Isn't Carl the one standing there?" Christiana said, giving him a kick on his legs which caused him to spring up.

Frank got up to see Carl holding a baby squirrel in his hand.

"Carl?"

"Hey buddy, I heard this little buddy…"

Before he could finish his sentence Frank walked up to him and gave him a big hug.

"What calls for the unceremonial hug?" Carl said, trying to keep the squirrel safe.

"I thought you were underground and probably dead by now," Frank said, pulling free from the hug. He cursed himself for acting like a wimp in front of Christiana without making sure of things first.

"What happened to the cave?" Carl asked after noticing that the cave that was there a few minutes ago was nowhere to be found.

Frank explained how the earthquake had happened and how the cave had gone into the ground but what he couldn't explain was how it had completely sealed up after that.

"It's a good thing I heard this little fella crying and went to check it out."

"Mr cry baby here couldn't get a hold of himself because he thought you were gone," Christiana said, another joke at the expense of Frank.

"That's sweet man, it's good to know that you really care about me," Carl said, punching him on the shoulder like he usually did.

"Yeah." Frank said, rubbing his shoulder."Let's just get back before they notice our absence."

As the two began to walk off Frank held his necklace up to look at it then he turned back to look at the strange W symbol on the ground.

His crystal was no longer glowing as it did when he stepped on that spot.

'Was it the reason for that earthquake?' Luis thought, rubbing the blue crystal on the necklace.

It had to be but to be sure he needed to try it again, his curiosity got the better of him as he saw himself walking closer to the symbol.

"Frank."

Frank turned to see that both Carl and Christiana were still close and they were both giving him strange looks now.

"I'm coming," Frank said and quickly started to jog towards them.

Meanwhile, in a cave deep underground, the earthquake had affected a certain tomb and cracked open the walls which the tomb was put in.

A few minutes later a growl was heard inside as the tomb was kicked open revealing a man who had lots of scars and bruises on his face but apart from that he had a single broken horn sticking out from the side of his head.

"Where are those filthy soldiers?" He growled. "Where is that stupid queen?"

He stopped in the middle of his sentence when he discovered that the whole place was in ruin and there didn't seem to be anyone around there.

The man began to laugh maniacally as the horn in his head began to go inside.

"They think they can run from me, we'll see about that?"

"How was school, honey?" Jessica asked her son as he walked into the house holding his backpack.

"Normal as usual," Frank said with a tired voice as he dropped the bag on the sofa in their small living room.

"You sound exhausted, I made dinner." She said with a smile.

Frank turned to his mother and stared at her for a while before replying.

"Ok, mum," Frank said, wondering what had gotten his mum into such a good mood today.

As Luis ate his meal he would look at his mother who couldn't hide the smile on her face.

"Are you going to tell me the good news now?" Frank asked, he knew something was up and he was right.

"Ok," Jessica said as she adjusted herself on her seat. "Do you remember the widows' support program I told you about?"

"Yes, the one that said they were going to support all the widows of Tron Ville with some funds."

"Well, they've fulfilled their promises."

"Really, how much did they give you?" This time Frank was the one that was sounding excited.

"Enough to pay your fees and also support my business."

This was good news for Frank, if his mother now had this amount of money then it meant that he wouldn't have to struggle with his fees this time around.

While Frank was being cheerful with his mother a loud bang was heard outside then after some seconds, there were murmurs outside as people had rushed out to check what had caused such a loud sound.

"What was that?" Frank still had his hands covering his eyes because of the loudness of the sound.

He was the first to rush outside as his mother followed behind him.

Still standing at his doorstep Frank couldn't believe what he was seeing now.

The people gathered outside were still guessing what might have caused sound but Frank had already seen it.

"What's the problem, Frank?" Jessica asked on noticing that her son was standing in one place while looking straight without moving.

Without turning or saying a word Frank pointed at something he had never seen before.

On seeing what her son was showing her Jessica let out a gasp.

What looked like an army was marching towards their town, but this wasn't your normal army because it was composed of beasts that didn't look anything like normal and they were all coming from the forest.

"What are those things?" Jessica screamed, calling the attention of everyone to her.
