Evil Elizabeth got quieter over time, and her eyes returned to normal. She gave one last look at Maxilin before slowly closing her eyes and falling into Maxilin’s arms.

I had caught up with her. The dark veins in her face began to vanish. Kazia approached them gently and kneeled beside them. Maxilin took her in his arms and carried her neatly to the bed. He sat her down on the bed and gently stroked her head. He was staring at her sweet, innocent features.

But then he questioned, "Kazia, you did know there was anything wrong with the maid?" I didn’t hear her say anything in response to my question. Her lack of responsiveness is to blame for the current situation.

"Kazia, tell me the truth," I said again, taking a quick breath.

I turned my attention to her, but she was staring at the ground. After a little while, she tilted her head and gave a small nod.
