Land of riches

the walls stood tall, the gates shone like the morning sun, but what surprised Mina the was the fact that Yen called it his new home.

"What do you mean?" she asked

"how can you be so sure?" she added. and Yen replied "I don't know, but I have this great feeling that I'll spend most of my days here"

"there are a lot of things I do without fully understanding them" he added

"this is one of them" he said as he threw a lightning bolt at the gate forcing it open.

Mina's expectation was for a large number of armed guards to immediately rush out and face them, but the actual response was quite calm.

the gate opened and a single person came from within. a Middle aged man stood in front of Yen and Mina asking the questions "who are you? and what is your aim here?"

  "I'm a traveller." Yen answered

"and I need a place to stay" he added

"so you are the intruders H.Q was talking about" the man said as his already angry looking face began to look angrier.

"how did word get here so fast" Yen wondered

  "Telecommunications" Mina answered

  "What's that?" Yen asked

"They don't need run over here to get the word out, they use a device and deliver the message within seconds."

  "hmmm...." Yen hummed

  "that changes nothing" he said

"I expected a fight right from time" he added

"and besides, the whole idea is to take this place over"

then he turned over to the man standing at the gate and asked "what's your name sir?"

  "Inumaki" the man answered

  "Fuji Inumaki"

"Inumaki" Yen said smiling at him

"you can either take me to whoever's in charge here, or I can beat you up and make you do it"

normally, this kind of situation leads to an all out brawl between both parties. that's exactly what happened.

on hearing Yen's words, Inumaki was infuriated. he felt disrespected and underestimated.

"this young man does not know his place" he said in a voice that carried his full frustration. and suddenly the earth began to tremble, lightning struck and the winds became stronger. his fists were covered in flames and the intent to burn down his enemy and his rage burned just as hot.

Yen waited for Inumaki to finish his angry fuming and began evading his attacks.

 there was fire,

 there was lightning,

 there was water and

there was wind.

the ground shook

and the earth quaked

but even all that couldn't win.

Yen was just too fast. not even Mina who was watching from a distance could following him with her eyes. at some points, he even seemed to disappear. but the most surprising part was that he had not even attacked once nor had he show any intent to do so. it took Inumaki some time to realise this but when he did, he was already subdued to the ground.

"now listen and listen carefully" Yen said as he held down the struggling Inumaki.

"you only got a glimpse of my lightning" he said

"If you don't comply with me, I'm more than willing to show you it's full power right now"

Judging from the fight, Inumaki knew that his best option was compliance. he deducted that Yen didn't even need use much lightning to cause to cause severe damage and that if he decided to use it, there probably wouldn't be anyone or anything that could withstand it. surrender was the best option.

"So what do you want?" Inumaki asked after Yen accepted his surrender and let him stand up. and Yen replied "like said before, I want a place to stay, and I also want to meet the person in charge."

"alright come with me" Inumaki said as he went ahead of them into the city.

What they saw inside blew away all their expectations. it was a city but it wasn't populated by people. instead it was populated by treasures of all kinds. every building that they walked past was a storage facility for either gold, grains or any other thing of great value. and the most surprising of it all how big the city was.

"all these riches, and the people outside still live in poverty" Mina mumbled

"what do you mean?" Inumaki asked.

"the land outside is prosperous" he said

the problem Mina had with his statement was that it was completely sincere. there was no doubt in Inumaki's mind about what he was saying.

"have you ever left this place?" Mina asked and Inumaki answered "no" and it was true. he had lived in the city for as long as he could remember. from childhood to adulthood. he never left the land of treasures because it was his job to keep it safe. all the information of the outside world that he was exposed to only showed the prosperous parts of the country and he and every other person in the city believed it. for some reason none of them ever thought of taking a walk outside.

Mina halted their advancement with the words "stop. we need to show you what it really looks like outside"

"but we're almost at our destination" Inumaki answered, and Yen gave him a stern look saying "my lightning offer is still up" and there was immediate agreement from Inumaki's side.

Yen held both Mina and Inumaki and carried them at an amazing speed to the nearest village within seconds. it took Inumaki some time to recover from the experience and as he looked forward, he saw the most horrific scene ever in his life. it was enough to make him throw up.

"how are these people even still alive in such an environment?" he asked in an agonizing tone before reaching into his pocket and bringing out a device that Mina did not recognize until he started running around the village with it.

"what is he doing?" Yen asked

  "he's recording" Mina answered

  "hmm...quite useful"

it didn't take long for Inumaki to stop being an agonising cameraman and come back to the group.

"this is enough evidence to show m... aaaah"

before he could finish talking, he got dragged back to where they were before in the city.

taking a deep breath and exhaling, Yen said "now let's go back to meeting the one in charge" and they continued walking after Inumaki recovered and started showing the way again.
