Admiral of Rimetide (1)

This is the worst first day of school ever.

I had a runny nose, a fever, and now I have a fight in which I don't even want to be a part in. Not to mention people did a background check on me. Which means Elios is also their target. I can't let that happen.

We reached the classroom with just a minute before the final bell for demerits, the girl sighs in relief and walks toward her seat, she was glad to be rid of me that's for sure. Everyone was looking at me with contempt, Elios wanted to wave at me but I mentally told him to stop.

'Big red what's wrong?' Elios asked with urgency.

'Later at the villa. Right now, act like you don't know me.' I tried to remain calm, but I can't. My mind was racing and my connection was straining.

'But-'

'E, they know who I am. Then you should keep a low profile.' I warned him and shut off the connection.

I turned my attention to the front of the class once more. But they look disinterested and ignored me. The classroom was a lecture hall of a setting, seats are divided based on your status. Class-A Students are filed over at the front and center, while Class-B to D are filed next to the windows.

"So the final student is here. Alright B-Class Scholar, introduce yourself and take a seat next to the other B-Class."

"I'm Marc Callahan Noan. Nice to meet you all." I bowed in front of everyone, because it gives them less reasons to target Elios.

I sat down beside the B-Class student who was none other than the sea jock. I sat down without saying hi to him and let him sleep through the class. And I immediately regreted it since my seat was near the scorching morning sun.

The teacher, albeit young, had a stern look on her face. Her blazing red hair was silky and tied to a ponytail, her sharp magenta eyes screams she means business.

"I am Emmaline Ramirez. Your adviser and your Ability Theory teacher. You are to respond me in aclear voice and a clearer mindset. Am I understood?"

Only a collective and lukewarm response of yes responded to her and I think they struck a nerve.

"Since this is the first day, I won't get into the details. But for now, I have assigned your moderators for this Class. Blake Anthony Mathis and Eula Imeris Kresnik."

"Ma'am?" Two students stood up, the boy had silver gray hair and teal eyes, just like the girl from before. But he was built like a track runner and his smile was geniune. He had the look of Class President already. The girl had pink brown hair, her calf brown eyes spark innocence and her appearance makes you want to sit down and chat with her. Both of them were wearing light brown jackets, and around their left arms, were the black and red bands of a scholar.

"You two will represent Class-A. As for the Scholars... Since we only have 2 from different class, they will represent themselves. Marc Callahan Noan and Vann Ethan Alencon."

"Present." I stood up but my seatmate, Vann, was snoring peacefully. I looked over at Lady Emma and she was seething.

'So this is how I die...' I thought to myself and was silently preparing my eulogy when Vann inexplicably stands in attention. His eyes were grougy and half open.

"Ma'am." He yawned everyone groaned. Lady Emma massaged the bridge of her nose and takes a minute.

"You two will be reprsenting yourselves in the Weekly Meetings with the Council. Understood?"

"Yes ma'am." We said, but Vann was trailing off again. Lady Emma then dismisses the class 45 minutes early and most of the kids ran out of the room. Elios also left but he told me that he has another class.

'We have different schedules?' I re-established the mental link just as he leaves.

'More like different professors. I don't know why but, four other people aren't listed with us.' Elios said.

'Who are they?'

Just as Elios is about to speak our connection broke. Insufficient range, or the fact that my mind was still racing. Either way, I still have to tell him what happened. I looked around the barely filled room, and sure enough; Blake, Eula, a Boy with Blond Hair and the girl with silver gray hair were still here. It was awkward, being the only one B-Class left. But a snore made me jump in surprise and telling me I was wrong.

"Crikey-Fuck!" I shouted as Vann's mini orchestra made me speak my old dialect.

The four kids looked at me and I clamped my mouth shut. Talk about embarrassing. Then they all laughed.

"That was one mix of a curse. Still, why so jittery Marc?" The girl named Eula asked. Her smile was a bit... off putting to say the least.

"You two are Marc and Vann, right?" Blake asked and extends his hand. "I'm Blake Anthony Mathis. Nice to meet you."

Up close, Blake was a tad bit cute I'll give him that. His teal eyes lighter than Conner's, but he is a bit slimmer.

"Marc Callahan Noan, and no I do not know this sea jock. Well personally anyways." I said defensively.

"Who are you calling 'sea jock'?" Vann woke up and was glaring at me.

"I feel like you really do know each other." Eula raised an eyebrow.

"Well, he did washed me with snow and ice... Twice." I grumbled and I wiped my runny nose.

"Wait.... Oh yeah I remember you! You're that sea pup." He smiled and pointed at me.

Sea pup?! What?!

"You and I have a fight later right? Don't hold back, alright sea pup?" He clapped my back and stands up. He was the tallest of all of us. And this is the first time I see him upclose. His chiseled body is revealed thanks to his untucked uniform, His brown hair unruly and spiked, and his sea blue eyes were... distracting.

"Something on my face sea pup? Aren't I attractive?" He asked with eyes that scream playful innocence. And I rolled my eyes and retracted. Man he's annoying. Wait... I feel annoyed? Not even Conner managed to drive me this far.

"Wait... you have a fight? Already?" Eula asked her face full of shock.

"Care to explain?" Blake sighs as he resigned to his seat.

"You do it. You seem good at talking, so I'll leave it to you. Gotta hit the Cafe now!" Vann said and leaves before I could even protest.

'That... sea jock!!!' I screamed in my thoughts. Then I looked at Eula and Blake, and they were expecting.

But before I could speak, I heard a notifcation of some sorts. And sure enough, Eula, Blake and the two others took out their phones, and their faces tensed.

"Hold that story for a bit Marc. We've... got something going on." Eula smiled apologetically and they left, along with the two others.

I was left alone in the classroom. And sure enough, I could breathe with ease now.

'A fight huh...' I looked at my hands, although caloused, it was still fairly soft. I never fought in real time, I mean I was sparring to defend myself, not to pick fights.

I took a deep breath. What did I got myself into? And at the same time, and I feel like the Gods of Fate were laughing at me, when the door opened, I was sure enough my day was about to get worse.

"Excuse me? Am I in the right room for Thaumaturgy Class? Hope I'm not a wee bit late?"

He had bright golden hair, his eyes were blue like sapphires. And his smile... It reminded me when I was 8. I winced and subtly covered my right eye.

"Y-yeah... You're in the right place." I managed to say without going on a full blown panic.

"Smashing! Name's Theo by the way. Theodore Andrew Scifios."

Of all the people in the world destiny... Why him? And what is with this timing?
