The End of the Nightmare

Manami was in a state where she was asleep but awake at the same time. She could see what was going on around her but she could not move. Still, she was not panicking like the first time she experienced this as this had been going on for a few days now. In this state, Manami could only move her line of sight and that was it.

Manami looked around the room and saw Niel sitting near the door. She was surprised to see that the item in Niel's hands was an actual sword, it wasn't a katana but something else, it was thicker and looked heavier than a regular katana.

'When did he get that? Is that some kind of ritual sword to defeat the Shadow? This guy might actually be the real deal.'

Manami was now feeling a lot more confident as she looked at the vigilant Niel. At first, when she met him she was really skeptical about Niel as he didn't have the air of a spiritual master he didn't even look like a professional. Still, since she had no other choice she made a gamble.

'Looking at him now he really does look like an expert, it seems like I made the right bet.'

As Manami was feeling glad about her choice she saw Niel sighing as he took out his phone and started playing. After she just praised him he suddenly starts playing with his phone. Manami started feeling a little anxious again. It was at that moment Manami suddenly felt an intense chill. Even though she has experienced it a lot of times now she still could not get used to this fear she was feeling.

The door to the room suddenly started banging. Manami was once again surprised the door was not forcefully opened. This was the first time that happened. Back in her room no matter what she did the Shadow would be able to enter.

'Does that mean the items he brought back were the real deal?'

While Manami was wondering where Niel got those talismans from the banging on the door grew louder. Even though the Shadow wasn't able to enter the room the loud banging of the door unnerved her. As the banging of the door grew even louder Niel simply stood there waiting.

'That talisman sure is effective, maybe I should just buy a ton of them and place it on the door of my room. Even if the Shadow returns it won't be able to get in, the only downside is that it's going to be noisy. I wonder if my parents would hear it as well...'

Manami who was wondering if there was a discount if she bought the talismans in bulk was stunned by what Niel did next, he actually opened the door. Manami saw the Shadow standing in front of Niel, yet for some reason, Niel was not doing anything. The Shadow passed by him and started walking towards her.

Manami was extremely frightened and wanted to scream but the same as the other days she could not do so. She tried her hardest but no sound would come out, it was then Niel rushed towards her. Now that she looked at it the Shadow did not move at all it was still outside the door. Did she make a mistake because of fear?

Despite not moving from its spot, Manami felt a horror like never before. It felt like it could kill Niel without going near him. Manama desperately tried to tell Niel that it was behind him but as usual she could not say a word. When she thought that something bad was about to happen, Niel suddenly turned around his sword ready to attack.

'He heard me?!' She felt a little bit of joy that she was able to do something, it was then she heard the voice of the Shadow for the first time.

"Leave us, she's mine."

Manami knew that voice it was extremely familiar to her. It was the voice of the stalker she used to have that supposedly committed suicide a few months ago. She couldn't remember his name but he remembered that he had stalked her for some time and she had him arrested, she later learned that he supposedly committed suicide.

'Even in death, you stalk me! Why are you doing this to me!' Manami screamed in her mind but then a voice sounded after.

"Heh, yours? I don't know who or what you are, all I know is that you're not something this girl wants or needs."

"I told you to leave!"

The room became dark as every light in the house disappeared, it was then that Manami was able to clearly see the true form of the Shadow. As she expected it really was her stalker that died a few months ago. The fear Manami felt heightened to an incredible degree, she wanted to wake up but she did not know how to.

Manami then looked at Niel who was looking around still unable to see the Shadow. She didn't know what else to do as she tried her hardest to do something. With all her effort she could feel her hand moving towards him as she grabbed his shirt. It was at that moment Niel looked at her, anxiety could be seen in his eyes, as he then turned around to finally look at the evil spirit that has been haunting her.

Despite his fears, Niel actually charged toward the evil spirit. Niel slashed at the evil but was unable to do any actual damage to it. Niel kept hacking at it, but the evil spirit's focus was never on him and only on Manami.

She really hated this stalker whose name she never knew. She didn't even know him nor did she ever talk to him so why is he bothering her so much? As she saw him coming toward her with that creepy smile on his face, Manami wanted to cry.

Manami who was so frightened by her stalker saw Niel running towards her, he got close to the stalker and placed something on its back. Manami could not see what Niel placed but it was able to stop the stalker from moving. Niel then picked up Manami and started running.

"GIVE HER BACK TO ME!"

The stalker yelled his anger made the atmosphere feel even heavier. Niel brought Manami into a dark storage area. Manami looked at her savior and saw that his face was full of worry.

'So even he can't save me...'

The demon in the shape of Manami's former stalker started banging on the door. It shouted at Niel telling him to give Manami to him.

"If you don't give her to me, I will kill you in your sleep! I will rip you apart you filthy little bug!"

The moment Manami heard those words she could not help but cry. Not only was she unable to get rid of this evil spirit, but she had also doomed Niel as well. She then saw Niel stare at her for a while and he showed a very determined expression. Out of nowhere Niel had a surgical mask in his hand and spoke to Manami.

"I'm sorry this will be a little frightening."

After he said those words Niel put on the surgical mask and disappeared. Manami was startled but then she heard the door opening.

'Did he abandon me?'

That was the first thought in her mind, but she did not get angry because of it. Actually, she felt relieved that he abandoned her. Now she won't feel as guilty, it was then she saw the evil spirit of her former stalker enter the storage room.

"Finally we can be together. No one can stop me now, no one can deny our happily ever after." The evil spirit smiled at her which made Manami wince. It got closer and closer to her, it then stretched out its hand trying to touch her but then the light suddenly turned on.

The evil spirit howled as it tried to run out of the storage room, but then the door closed and Niel appeared out of nowhere. He raised his sword with both his hands on the handle and sliced downward cutting the evil spirit in half, and unlike before the evil spirit wasn't able to regenerate. Still in pain, and howling it looked at Manami reaching out its hand.

"YOUR MINE! MINE! MINE!" Those were the final words of the evil spirit as it vanished into thin air. Seeing that the evil spirit was expelled from this world, Niel breathed a sigh of relief as he approached the still sleeping Manami.

"The nightmare is finally over, it's time to wake up hime-sama."

I know this might seem like a repeat of the previous chapter which I guess in a sense it is, but I just wanted to write it from the point of view of the helpless Manami. Well anyway, thank you for reading this chapter.
