LIQUIDATE

Something felt eerily wrong.

The musty smell surrounding the corroded walls, you could almost see them about to crumble, yet it only made it more fascinating.

Before I had much time to think about my fascination, it was too late.

I felt a sharp sting in my neck, the sharp point of a needle filled with a drug concoction.

It was all a blur up to when we were tied up and tormented.

The least desirable part of the experience after the indescribable pain and fear was hearing that man's grisly laugh as he displayed a toothy, rotten grin.

To show his prey how much he was enjoying himself as he ripped us to shreds.

He carved through my skin and muscle to unveil my paste white bones, yet I still had the slightest feeling of a desirable emotion, it was hope.

Seeing the petrified looks on the other victims faces, I knew they wanted to die even if it just saved them the deformities.

They would've done anything to die, yet 20 minutes before they would've wanted to live.

I never lost hope, I was afraid I would accept death if I let go.

I saw the others accept death, someone even closed their eyes to accept the inevitable.

I've never been so fearful.

My survival is another thing that is quite ironic.

Why was I the only one to make it out screaming, yet breathing?

So many questions to be left unanswered.

"Your PTSD is frying your brain again, isn't it?"I jumped at the sound of Adrian's voice.

"It's not my fault my holiday was ruined. You don't find yourself being strapped to a chair and cut open everyday, do you know how that feels Adrian?"

I saw the faintness of his sympathy for me.

Most of the time he just denies the fact that he cares.

"How could I?"

He took a step closer and began observing me, as if he was trying to dig deeper into my ill-bred emotions.

"I understand, it was barbaric and all. I can't know what it was like, but I'll always be here for you. Now, take my hand."

I looked down at his veiny hands and then back at him to provide a questioning look.

"So, what are you trying to achieve by doing this?" I asked.

"I'm going to swiftly steal you away and take you to Audrey's party, I know you don't like her but no one really goes there to see her anyway."

I gave a slight smile, which quickly converted into a scowl.

"What are we going to do there? Drink until we puke?" I asked.

"Well, what else are we going to do at a party?" He looked at me and smiled as he spoke.

"I'm not sure how to answer you on that one because you always have a stupid remark to make."

I tried not to smile as I felt his eyes on me.

I turned and saw that as he grinned, his nose scrunched up and I remembered why I've always adored him.

I never told him these things because I was fearful of his retaliation.

He saw me staring, and reached out to pull a piece of hair away from my face.

I felt adored, yet still knew there was a line drawing between what any of this could be.

"You should wear that red dress I've always loved, you'll be the main attraction."

He grabbed my hand, gave me a twirl and nudged me towards my bedroom door.

I gave a smirk and went into my room, closing my door behind me.

He always made me smile, but even his highly infectious contentment couldn't uplift me.

Why does nothing make me happy?

Maybe my recovery has been halted by the knowledge of the murderer still existing on the same planet as me.

To make it worse, they never caught him.

There is no way they could connect this unspecified man to the massacre because he left no trace, except the misery still festering inside of me.

He wore a mask, which only made his spine-chilling smile and heartless eyes more apparent.
