ERADICATION

Adrian put his arm on my stomach and pushed me behind him.

Suddenly, the sound of shattering glass filled the air, and we flinched at the unnerving noise.

My body began to shiver, almost as if the cold air had only just affected me.

I looked up to the door and saw that it had been violently shattered into pieces that had now spread across the patio.

"There's someone fucking in there!" I heard Adrian's petrified voice next to me.

He raised his finger and pointed into the void of darkness inside, as what looked like a shadow slowly appeared.

A tall man in black walked out through the broken door and down the small set of steps, the boards of the patio sounded like they could barley hold his body weight.

His fists were clenched, and his head was lowered towards the ground, but his parlous eyes were pointed towards me.

Suddenly he reached inside his pocket and pulled out something that looked almost invisible in the dark, a gun.

He raised it towards my head as he walked to me, grimacing as he got closer.

I saw his face, and I ingrained it in my brain within moments.

A black patchy beard, piercing blue eyes and a crooked nose.

I closed my eyes, accepting my fate as I had a flashback of the terrible fate of all those people in my past.

It felt as if I could feel a strange kind of peace that brought me closer to them.

Maybe we were all connected deep down.

Before I could even process it, there was another gunshot.

My ears went numb, with only a fuzzy noise temporarily filling them.

I knew this gunshot was louder, and different.

I stared into the eyes of the man in front of me and watched his soul leave his body, as he was so fleetly devoided of life.

His fingers unravelled from around the gun as it dropped to the ground before his body fell towards me.

The weight of the man pushed me to the ground and I felt a rush through my body as I fell.

My back hit first and then my head banged down immediately after, my head rebounding off the ground and back up into the air before smacking back down against the dirt and grass.

I layed there with his dead body on top of me as his weight kept me pinned against the ground.

I felt his blood soak into my clothes as I opened my eyes in fear, and my whole body went into shock before shaking in desperation.

Besides the shaking, i felt frozen into a paralysed state.

I opened my mouth wider and struggled to catch a breath, but it was too much of a struggle.

I started hyperventilating while staring up at the stars, hoping to find a better trigger to counteract what was happening to me.

I took a deep breath and let out a harrowing, shrill scream that echoed through the night.

The man's head layed on my chest near my right shoulder, so I had turned my head to the left to then stare at the bushes across from me.

My eyes stayed widened, without a possible way to push myself to blink.

I felt the weight of the man slowly being lifted off of me, and I saw a pair of legs near the lower half of my body.

I looked up and saw Harvey dragging the body off to the side of the yard.

I looked over at Adrian and saw him standing in the far right corner, where he was partially hidden by the top of the patio.

I could see that he was still contemplating the situation as much as I was.

From the corner of my eye I saw Harvey running towards me before I felt his hands grab mine, as he pulled me off the ground.

"We've got to go, NOW! we've got to run, go," there was a raspiness in his voice as he himself was struggling for a breath of air.

He pulled my body towards the door and dragged my feet across the ground before I gained traction.

"ADRIAN!" I turned my head and started screaming towards the broken back door with such intensity before briefly losing my voice, as I had pushed the limit of what my voice box could handle.

I felt a pain shoot up my throat, I felt an urge to reach for it but I couldn't.

I saw Adrian stagger towards the door as he looked up and locked eyes with me.

Before I knew it, I had been pulled out the front door, but I lost my step at the stairs because of the aggressive way Harvey was pulling me.

I felt the rubble in the front yard scraping against the back of my legs, but I was too numb to even contemplate where it hurt the most.

I twisted my head to look behind me and saw a car that looked familiar, a black Audi A5.

"HARVEY! LET GO OF ME!" He swiftly dropped me to the ground before opening the car door in front of me.

Once again, my lower back and head hit the ground abruptly.

I felt my elbows in the gravel, and something began to sting.

I must've injured my elbows without noticing, as my manic state deprived me of feeling.

I heard Adrian's front door crash open as he rushed outside towards us, but Harvey began to drive off before he could make it anywhere near us.

"NO! ADRIAN! ADRIAAN!" I banged my fist against the window and attempted to open the door, but it was locked.

"For FUCKS SAKE!" Harvey banged his hands on the steering wheel hysterically, and caused me to freeze in silence, as i feared his next move.

I couldn't believe it. I could've died, that man was trying to kill me.

I pushed past the pain and instead began to weep as pushed back the image of the man that just necrotized on top of my body.
