CHAPTER 02

The news of Adam Conreid, the CEO of Conreid Lore, dying in a car accident shook the whole state. The scene of his sports car hitting the barricade and rolling was repeatedly played on the news channels.

Conreid Schools, Conreid Colleges, Conreid Institutes, and Conreid Training Academies that were all part of the Conreid Lore all announced three days holidays.

However, Leher, the old butler of the Conreid family, later held a press meet and announced that Adam was still fighting death.

Thirty nine days went by silently, and no one expected that the youngest lion of the Conreid family would finally make an entrance on the fortieth day.

In the Conreid Headquarters, on the seventh floor assigned for the Education Department.

“Why isn’t he here yet?”

“Because he’s probably dead.”

‘But, didn’t their butler say he’s alive?”

“Obviously, he was minimizing the stock damage by spewing bullshit. They must have already buried his body somewhere secretly. They are not obligated to answer the general public, after all.”

“I wanted to drive in a luxurious sports car at least once. How could he die in a car crash like that?”

“You’re right. Though he’s strict with men, he’s lenient on female staff. He’s also one of those CEOs who gives his female employees free rides. We’re new here, but some of our old employees must really be missing him, but I’m sure the men must be feeling happy now that he’s gone.”

“He should have hired a driver instead of driving it himself.”

Most women were vocal in showing their sadness for how things turned out. The men, however, looked pretty relaxed.

“I’ve finally proposed to Mary, and she accepted last night.”

“What? Really? I thought she’d still be mourning for our late boss.”

“She was, but she’s ready to move on, so I’m lucky!”

“Well, Evelyn said we’ll be getting a new boss today, so make sure he doesn’t grab your Mary like the last one.”

“Who’s the new boss?”

“Second Son of Conreid, Eric. He’s the current CEO of Conreid Technologies.”

“Huh, that means he’s older than Adam, isn’t he? There’s no way Mary’s going to be bewitched by him!”

“Let’s hope so.”

As they were speaking, a gray-haired man in a suit entered the floor and walked straight into the boss’ room, ignoring all those who stood from their seats along the way.

“That’s him.”

“Shit. He looks younger than I thought.”

“Haha, are you worried about losing Mary again?”

Meanwhile, inside the CEO’s room.

Eric looked around at the photo frames, trophies, awards, and medals before eventually sitting in the CEO’s chair. He rubbed his hand on the arm of the chair. “Where did that old bastard hide him? I’ve had all the places we own checked, but he’s nowhere to be found.” He pressed a button under the desk.

Seconds later, a brunette in a suit entered the room. Eric’s expression froze from seeing this beautiful, neatly-dressed woman who was obediently carrying files in her arms. She was 25, but she looked much younger than her age. “You are…”

“Evelyn, sir. Your brother’s personal secretary.”

Her dreamy intense blue eyes, slicked-back dark hair, and the perfect proportions neatly hidden under the suit made it almost impossible for Eric to take his eyes off of her.

She touched her glasses a bit and said, “You are married, sir.”

Eric grinned, almost hysterically. (Look at this bitch. Where is her boldness coming from? He must have made this whore feel she’s a little too special, huh.) “It seems you’re not afraid of losing your job.”

He was wrong. Evelyn was very much anxious, but she was just that good at concealing her fears.

“You’ve done an acceptable job while my brother was messing around the past month or so,” Eric said, flipping through the report. “To be fair, he wasn’t doing well when he was working as a CEO, either. He spends extravagantly on the company’s profits instead of investing them for future growth. However, you used the last month’s profits to reimburse the top college students, and that brought the Conreid Lore some good fame. That’s the only reason why I haven’t fired you even after being overly bold with me.”

Acceptable. That word hurt her pride, but she could still live with it as long as she didn’t lose her job.

Eric also read about Evelyn’s career. She was an MBA graduate who topped the interview because of her innovative idea and was directly appointed as the assistant manager of the strategic division, where she worked for three years, and only three months ago, Adam made her his personal secretary.

“Three months is a long time to do all sorts of things, isn’t it?” Eric asked in a vaguely sarcastic tone.

Evelyn knew exactly what he was getting at.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” she said, trying not to frown in annoyance, “SIR.”

Eric shut the file and said, “You can go.”

“Thank you,” she bowed a little before turning to leave.

He checked her perfect ass out and sucked in a breath. “Damn.” He ended up saying it out loud.

Evelyn stopped and glanced over her shoulder. “Sorry?”

“Nothing. I was just lost in thought, that’s all,” Eric said and smirked.

“Piece of shit,” Evelyn slapped her shoulder. “Sorry, a fly.” She patted her shoulder a bit and then walked out of the room, shutting the glass door with just enough force to contort Eric’s face.

Eric put his elbows on the desk and his arms supported his chin. “This rebellious little bitch needs some strict lessons. Taming her might prove pleasing.”

Just then, a gorgeous brown-haired lady entered the room. “Hi, sir. It’s nice to finally meet you. I’m Mary, the director of the logistics division.” She bowed, thereby exposing the fine line setting her firm, round breasts apart.

Before Eric even realized, he was staring at her breasts. (This one’s intentions are way too obvious, but at least she’s good-looking, hehe.)
