Chapter 5: “This Glitch”

Ares was now standing in the front garden; the man looked confused, looking for the fruit the system referred to.

As far as Ares' eyes could see, he only saw a tree. At first, he hesitated because the apples differed from those the system described.

But Ares approached the plant, took four apples, and immediately consumed them. Ten apples were ready to be eaten, but Ares only consumed four and left the rest on the tree.

"This fruit really doesn't look like an apple! It's really small," Ares thought.

"Sir, I suggest you eat all four fruits at once to give you a one-time shock effect."

Ares was confused, but tried to ignore his doubts and quickly asked the system for confirmation.

"Sir, you don't need to worry. I've done my own analysis and calculations. And that number is the best way to increase your strength."

Ares remained silent and pondered. Although the system reassured him, he was still hesitant to eat the four strange apples he was holding.

After some time of convincing himself, Ares finally made up his mind. "Alright, I'll eat all four at once."

Ares immediately ate the four fruits he had just plucked from the tree in one go.

"Master, you've already eaten those four fruits. The enhancement of the fire element's power is underway. Sir, I hope you'll be quiet and willing to endure the shock effect until the process is complete."

"Alright, I'd better sit back and enjoy the sunset."

"Argh!" Ares cried out as he felt an electric shock run through his body. Now, the man understood why the system told him to eat four fruits at once.

[Congratulations, you have increased your fire element. You now have a blue fire elemental with 5,000 exp. You also got 10,000 coins. After that, you have a purple fire elemental with 10,000 exp and 20,000 coins. Next, you have the black fire elemental with 15,000 exp and 30,000 coins. Access to the blue fire elemental is now available with 20,000 exp and 40,000 coins.]

Ares could not hide his happiness as the system notification sound continued to ring out. The man was indeed a little exhausted from the attack of the electric shock effect, but there was no easy way to become strong.

[SirSir, you levelled up more than 10x and you got 100,000 coins. There is an 80% discount card that you can use for the next week."]

Ares was now dumbfounded after hearing the notification from the system. The man's strength and various very tantalising bonuses had increased. God and heaven were truly on his side.

"I feel like I'm performing a trick on life. I love this glitch," Ares said while looking at his status table.

Ares currently felt that his body was much stronger than it had been a few days ago. However, he realised that he was nothing compared to his brothers in the empire.

Looking around again, he still found nothing interesting except the green vegetables that grew unkempt. Many farming tools were broken because they had not been used for many years.

As the sun set and the sky darkened, Ares knew he couldn't find a better resting place than the one he was currently in. But one thing Ares didn't know was that the place where he was staying was a part of the city that was no longer inhabited due to frequent attacks by wild beasts at night.

So, as usual, the sound of footsteps could be heard from behind the darkness of the night. Ares' eyes, which had been closed, now opened again, and he refocused on his surroundings.

"Wait, someone is lurking. There are ten of these monsters, and they have four legs. From the sound of their footsteps, I can confirm that there are no humans."

The sound of rough, heavy breathing reached Ares' ears. Ten elephant-sized dogs with red fur were moving around his neighbourhood.

When Ares saw a dog walking towards him, he immediately became conservative. The red-furred dog approaching him was a D-level beast race, meaning it had a level above 200. It meant good luck tonight with ten fire-furred dogs around.

But it would be a bit troublesome if Ares fought a single red-furred dog. Now Ares must fight ten at once; of course, it will be more troublesome and reduce the victory percentage.

Ares has the soul and spirit of a warrior. The man was often on the edge of life. Death always kept testing Ares. Not just once or twice, at least, he had been in a case between life and death dozens of times; he had never experienced such a painful death.

Finally, a red-furred dog appeared right in front of Ares. Red eyes and drool dripping from its mouth indicated that the dog had found its prey.

Ares took the sword from its sheath and prepared to fight the red-furred dog that wanted to pounce on him. He knew it was better to face them individually than to meet the ten red-furred dogs surrounding his place of existence.

Although only one was before him, Ares did not let his guard down. Animal instincts are known to be sharp; they can call out to their pack when pressed. Ares, who had not started his attack, heard footsteps behind him. From the sound Ares had just heard, at least two creatures were approaching him from behind.

But when Ares turned his head, what he saw differed greatly from what he heard. Not two but three red-furred dogs were moving towards Ares simultaneously.

"You guys like to group, and I'll teach you what it means to live independently." Ares immediately dodged the attacks of the three red-furred dogs that attacked him simultaneously.

Ares dodged and suddenly jumped to keep his distance. "They're strong, like they've reached that level. Once I let my guard down, I could die from their attacks." with speed after levelling up, Ares tried to counterattack, but the pace of the red-furred dogs was quite tricky.

"They're pretty fast, too," Ares muttered.

"Hey, system, what percentage do you think I can beat them?" Ares said in his mind.

"100% you can beat them. Take it easy!"

"Their strength is far above mine, and they are also superior in numbers. How can I win against them?" Ares said while continuing to dodge the red-furred dog's attack.

"Master, you seem to have forgotten. The power of the strongest fire element is already in your control. With that power, at least you can easily defeat opponents who have a level above you, SirSir. Those with a level of 200 above will be easily defeated, especially if only ten red-furred dogs are only level two hundred."
