Chapter 7: “Summoning A Subordinate”

Ares nodded and said, “Okay, summon the subordinate.”

A portal opened in front of Ares. A man came out of it and knelt before him.

“I am Ashur, your loyal servant, sir,” the man said.

Ares was stunned by Ashur’s level. He thought,

“Level 2,200? How is this guy so much stronger than me?”

“Master, don’t worry. Your subordinates are absolutely loyal to you. Even if they are stronger, they will never betray you.”

Ares nodded again. He said, “Ashur, stand up. And don’t call me master. Just use my name.”

“I apologize, sir, but that is too disrespectful. You are my master forever, and I, Ashur, dare not call you by your name,” he said and rose.

Ares gave up on changing his mind. He didn’t mind having a loyal servant.

“Ashur, follow me. We have something to do in the city,” he said and ran back to Avalon City with Ashur behind him.

***

In the early morning, five kilometers south of Avalon City. Some security officers were patrolling and found thousands of fresh beast corpses with severe wounds. Most of them died from explosions, and hundreds were beheaded.

“There are 20 level 500 beasts and nearly two hundred beasts with levels above 300. If they attacked the city, we would be doomed. And look over there, there are thousands more,” one of the security officers said.

“We would be gone in minutes,” another one said.

“They are powerful, but they are dead. And Avalon City is safe for now. But the question is who killed them? And whose side are they on?” the leader of the security officers said. He was standing on a pile of beast corpses that were about to be burned.

They would take the bodies of the beasts with levels above 200 to the city. Eating their meat would give some experience to whoever ate it.

“Let’s hope they are on our side,” the security officer next to the leader said.

If Ares saw the leader’s face, he would recognize him. He was one of the three people he had met before.

While there was confusion and worry in the forest, a young man and an adult man were enjoying some grilled meat in an old abandoned building. Ares and Ashur were having breakfast with rabbit meat that Ashur had hunted.

[Main mission unlocked] [After reaching level 200, the main missions will be unlocked one by one.] [Mission to create a territory] [The master is expected to create a village and become its leader] [Requirements for creating a village] [Population: 0/500] [Security Officer: 0/10] [Mission Reward: +2,000,000 exp » +2,000,000 coins » Getting a subordinate] [The mission will last for one month (30/30). Mission failure -200 levels]

Ares knew that he would get this mission sooner or later in his new world. But he was not used to being a leader. He preferred to work alone. Even if he had to lead someone, it would be only four people at most.

“I have enough time, 30 days. But where should I build my village? And how should I find 500 residents?” Ares thought with a gloomy expression.

“Master, are you troubled? I’m sorry, but you don’t look very happy.”

Ares said, “Ashur, I have a dream of building a village. Will you help me with that?” He asked.

“Of course, master. You won’t be alone in this journey. I, Ashur, will gladly assist you in building your kingdom, sir.”

Ares smiled at his answer. He said, “Let’s go after we finish eating. We need to find a suitable location for my dream. We can worry about the population later, after we find a place to build our village.”

Ares and Ashur left Avalon City a week ago. They kept moving northward. They had traveled more than 10,000 kilometers from the city.

Ares wanted to go north because the system told him that there were many high-level beasts and monsters there. It was a dangerous place, but it was also a perfect place for Ares to establish his village.

He didn’t forget to hunt any beasts or monsters he met on the way. He leveled up more than 100 times in a week, while Ashur only leveled up ten times at most. He needed more experience to level up.

The farther north they went, the more beasts or monsters with levels above 700 they encountered. Ashur even killed fifty beasts with levels above 1,000. On the seventh day, at noon, they heard some noises of explosions and metal clashing.

They were curious and followed the source of the noise. They hid behind some thick leaves and saw what was making the noise. It was a fight.

“Five people with level 300, against ten yellow fur wolves with levels above 500. Those five are doomed,” Ares whispered to Ashur.

“Don’t you want to save them, master?”

“Yes, I do. But I’m waiting for the right moment,” he said with a smirk. Ashur didn’t understand his words.

“Master, they will die soon. I think this is the right moment to save them.”

“This is exactly what I’m waiting for.”

Ares dashed towards the two yellow fur wolves that were about to jump on one of the five people.

TRING! DASH!

His sword slashed through their necks and cut off their heads.

He moved quickly and killed the rest of the yellow fur wolves with his sword. He gained some experience from them, but not enough to level up.

“Are you okay?” He asked the five youths who were staring at him in awe.

“S-sir, thank you for saving us,” one of them said on behalf of the others.

“You’re welcome. We humans should help each other.” He waved his sword and cleaned it from the blood.

“This forest is full of beasts and monsters that are stronger than you. You are looking for death if you stay here.”
