Chapter 10 - Discovery

Chapter 10 – Discovery

      “No, look behind you.”

Xia, who reluctantly looked behind was instantly stunned to see Peng standing on the ground with a face plastered with confusion

“Bro….. Brother Peng.” Xia jumped on her feet as she ran to Pengfei pulling him into an embrace “I thought I’d lost you.”

Xia’s voice shivered as she tried to stop herself from crying

“No….. No, I… I will never leave you.” Pengfei voice was completely blur as he tried to understand the paranormal activity that happened

“Ghou?, what… what’s this, why am I here.” He instantly pulled out of the embrace and sat on the damaged chair of the room trying to recall what had happened before his death, especially how and why he could find himself in Ghou’s home

“Ehn.. Emm… you and Xia came to my doorstep pleading for my forgiveness…..”

“Forgiveness, for what.” Pengfei jumped up from the chair with a facing drowned in awe “Pleading?, why were we pleading.”

“Ehn, but… but brother Peng, you woke up this morning with the decision of coming here to apologize to Ghou for the malice.” Xia looked more confused as she tried to pull the trigger into his brain. But Peng remained ignorant of the situation “You really don’t understand anything, do you?”

      “Not one…….”

“But wait.” Peng’s words were interrupted by Ghou’s, whose brows were knitted in confusion “Peng, you came here with an intention to kill me, I’m going to ignore that for now and just face the fact that you died, bu6 yet you’re alive without a single scratch to the skin. Isn’t that some sort of ability.”

There was a brief pause between the three individuals who switched gazes at each other as it finally dawned on them that Peng wasn’t a normal human after all

“Hello, message from the empress.” There was a sudden interruption to the silence with a lazy voice which shouted from the door that briefly followed by a gentle knock that prompted Ghou to temporarily ignore Peng’s discovery

“And welcome to my humble residence.” Ghou’s said with a clean and polite voice as he partially opened the door to avoid any sort of suspicion from the man as his room was all messy

“I don’t want anything to do with you or your home, I’m only delivering a message.” The mail-man rudely answered before forcing a sealed letter into Ghou’s palm “Remember, it’s from the empress and cannot be ignored.”

He instantly walked away after his last words, not giving Ghou any opportunity to speak or interfere in his speech

“Okay, whatever.” Ghou slammed the door diverting his attention back to Peng as he dropped the letter on a local table that located behind the damaged sofa

“Now uhm, what exactly is brother Peng’s ability.” Xia’s face flushed red as she vividly tried to subdue her over excitement “Like uhm….,he….umm, yeah!, he’s like an immortal.”

“No.” Peng retorted unable to comprehend on how he was to react “Emm, what if I’m just alive by pure luck. Like, nobody can be sure if such ability even exists.”

Xia’s face twitched upon hearing her brother’s words, she subconsciously nodded her head with pity on why Peng will be on denial to his newly found ability “Brother Peng, are you going to stab yourself in the chest before accepting what you have.”

“No, who would want to risk his life fore something he isn’t sure of.”

“Then why don’t you just go to an affinity center.” Ghou shrugged staring at both Pengfei and Xia whose eyes locked contact. The suggestion was a very clever one as the ‘Affinity Center’ as it name implies was a form of discovering Mana strength in an individual that would farther more discover the person’s ability. But this came with a prize as it involves the individual paying a reasonable amount of coin “The paid coins could worth it.”

“Ehn, nah.” Xia finally replied even though it wasn’t in her position to do so. She turned her gaze to Peng who stared blankly and once again to Ghou “Not that the idea is bad, the main problem is the payment, how can brother Peng waste lots of coins, not even bronze, silver or gold coins for something he already knows.”

“Then I could help you guys out with some gold…”

“Oh no…. That would be unnecessary.” Peng quickly interrupted startling Ghou who shrugged over the decision “But wait, if this is real, does it mean I can bow pursue my future ambitions.”

“No, brother Peng, don’t even think about that.” Xia shivered hearing the words of her brother who had already began day-dreaming of his future achievements “Noo, brother Peng, don’t do that, don’t even think about it.”

“Ahm, am I missing something.” Ghou stared in awe as Xia whose eyes suddenly turned tearful

“Yes, uncle Ghou, please advice brother Peng not to join the military..”

“Wait, are you serious right now.”

“Yeah, just think about that, brother Peng is so saggy to the extent of not having a single body muscle, please, convince him that the military is…”

Xia’s words were instantly cut short by Pengfei who shushed her by placing his palm over her little running mouth

“Ignore her. But anyways we’re going to take our leave now, see you soon.” With a laugh Pengfei slowly began to make his way towards the door now holding Xia tightly in the arms “Greet him a goodbye.”

“Uncle Ghou, bye, hope to see you again.” Xia reluctantly quoted with a daunt smile

“Peng, remember to inform me in case of any new discoveries.” Ghou waved at Pengfei and Xia who finally exited the room into the crowded streets.

Aah!

With a loud sigh, Ghou fell unto the damaged sofa of the room. It has been such a strange day with Pengfei’s attempt to kill him and the suddenly discovered ability

“Indeed a strange day.” Ghou tried to close his eyes but was instantly reminded of the letter from Kiara. With a single hand movement, he picked up the stamped sheet of paper from the table and broke the seal into half before he was finally allowed to view the hidden content.
