Chapter 6

14 HRS, 5 MINS LEFT

The truck arrived before clem city to see everywhere filled with zombies all trying to force their way through the huge tall-built wall.  As the truck pulled to a stop, the others got out of the vehicle, stretching their arms and legs before starting to prepare the vehicle.

Bali approached Andrew, “Are you sure we are gonna make it?”

“let's pray so”  Andrew replied as he helped Bali attach the fuel container to the side of the truck.

“So how many have there been so far?” Bali asked curiously.

“I couldn't count” replied Andrew

As if on cue a loud crash echoed through the air. Bali looked up to see one of the towers collapse. A few seconds later an earth-shattering roar was heard. “Oh, God! What does that sound like? What is happening?” Bali cried panicked?

“There isn't much time to explain, follow me! We need to find shelter before the horde gets here!” Andrew yelled back. As Bali nodded and grabbed his backpack, the stranger climbed aboard the truck and sped off into the darkness, leaving behind a cloud of dust.

“I knew it. It can't end like this. There has to be a better way.” Bali muttered under his breath

As the trucks made their way through the streets, people ran screaming away, some threw whatever object they had within reach into nearby buildings, smashing it into pieces.

Soon the trucks reached the main road, it was jammed with cars and vans. “That's a lot of zombies” commented the stranger as he scanned the street looking for something useful.

Everyone entered the truck as they started it, crashing into hordes of Zombies as they headed to the city gate, the truck crushed countless bodies, leaving behind pools of blood. After driving for a while the truck stopped exhausted of fuel at mid-way at the entrance of the city.

“Stay close, the zombies might attack us at any moment” warned the stranger.

Everyone followed the stranger as they dodged every attack of the zombies. At one point two of the strangers jumped onto a bus, they ran up the side of the bus until they reached the roof, then jumping onto a ledge they easily avoided the incoming barrage of zombies. The other five joined the strangers on the ledge, each grabbing a handle of one of the handles.

“Ready to run” demanded the stranger.

No one spoke, as they ran away from the zombies. They eventually found a spot to hide, hiding in a small gap between several houses. Once the others realized what had happened, they all relaxed and took a seat on the grass watching the sun slowly rise,

“What's the plan now” asked a confused Andrew asked

“We just need to keep on running and escape their attacks,” Bali said

“We go together in 3....2....1....run!” the stranger yelled as they took to their heels again. A few minutes passed, and they slowed their pace, stopping occasionally to look around. Soon enough they saw a large army of zombies following them. They moved faster than they thought, they managed to lose a couple of zombies during that short break but they weren't fast enough.

They were a few meters to the gate when a zombie speared Jonathan to the floor, Andrew turned to help his son smashing the zombie by its face.

The city alarm started to buzz, which echoed around the city as the gate started to close. Vehicles hurried into the city as soldiers shot at zombies attempting to enter the city.

The stranger reached the city gate along with Bali and Levis. “Where are Jonathan and Andrew?” asked Bali

“Out there” Levis pointed  to where the zombies were attacking Jonathan

“Fuck,” cursed the stranger. “I didn't think they would attack them, we gotta save them”

“How? How do we get them free?” asked the Bali turning to the stranger “You're supposed to be helping us!”

“He's right, how do we get them out” questioned levis looking at the stranger, his face twisted in panic, scared for Jonathan's life

“I don't know,” the stranger replied. He turned to the soldiers, “Could you slow down the gate closure”

“No, we have our orders” a soldier replied

“We are talking about a life here” Bali yelled angrily

     THE CITY GATE CLOSES IN

“10...9...8...7...6....5...4—” a computerized voice said, cutting the soldier's speech.

“Well fuck, it” the stranger shouted “you bastards, am sick of your shits!” he shouted before throwing a punch at a soldier's face

Zombies grabbed Andrew by the leg as they started to feed on him, blood poured out of him like a fountain, and his screams echoed throughout the city as more and more zombies devoured him alive.

Immediately a bike jumped out through the zombies, parking beside Jonathan

 “Get in,” the rider said

Jonathan climbed on the bike, “Who are you?” he asked.

“Get on, I won't ask questions”

Jonathan hopped onto the motorcycle, gripping tightly as the bike raced forward through the crowd of zombies. blocking any chance of escape as more zombies swarmed upon them. “2....1....0”

The bike accelerated jumping into the city with the front tire raised as the gate finally closed up. The rider parked the bike and then cracked his knuckles, “Who are you ?”

Jonathan asked

   “Call me Jake”
