Chapter Three

The masked man got on his motorcycle and sped off to meet with Hubbard, nothing was as important to him as the money he would receive for the job. Rival groups had begun to emerge from nowhere and the wingles were beginning to lose everything they'd worked for, his wife, Ayla, needed an immediate surgery for chronic liver failure else she wouldn't last the next seven hours.

The old man carefully returned to the apartment as he noticed a sudden calmness. He peeked through the shattered windows and all he could see was a young man determined to survive, he quickly punched in an emergency number and put a call forward to the emergency team.

A tear trickled down the side of Everly's nose, she never wanted anyone to find out about her relationship with Edwin.

“Who could be behind this?” she conceived and swallowed the dryness from her throat still observant of her environment, she turned back at equal intervals to check if the masked man was after her.

The thought of his sick wife pierced through his heart, he navigated through a faster route and caught up with the hack Everly rode on, with a brief tilt of her head, her eyes sat on the image of the masked man.

“Argh!”

she blurted out, the hack driver instantly stepped on the break, she jerked forward and hit her head against the driver's seat, her face turned pallid, as she bent down and hid her face in between her legs.

“Is he after me? Why does he want to take my life?”

The masked man gazed at the hack, fortunately for her, it had tinctured Windows. He sped off and left Everly to wrestle with her thoughts.

Few minutes later, he got down from his motorcycle as he arrived at Hubbard's mansion and advanced to meet with him at the guesthouse. Hubbard had handed over to him a gun and the type of bullet that would claim Edwin's life, he stood up and patted him on the shoulder.

“You've done well.” he whispered into his ears and cued for his personal guard to hand over the briefcase.

Ten million dollars was a lot of money. The bodyguard who had a wrestler physique slightly opened the briefcase to him for confirmation. The masked man signalled at him and then accepted it.

It was a win-win situation for Hubbard, he had gotten rid of Edwin and was certain Everly would return to him, it was only a matter of time. The masked man clenched the briefcase and paced out through the exit gate of the mansion. He had his motorcycle parked opposite a mall across the alley, some miles away from the mansion. Hubbard had strictly warned not to stop anywhere close to his mansion, although his body had begun to respect his age, he wasn't as strong as he was during his youthful age. He was a well-feared gangster, yet he still had the opportunity to make wealth legally.

The masked man hopped on his motorcycle and opened the briefcase, the scent of money hit him not just a little amount but ten million dollars, his lips trembled into a smile before he shut the briefcase with a loud bang.

He had gotten ten million dollars richer in less than an hour, now it's time to head back home, he slid the key into it's loco and turned it clockwise, the engine thundered.

Simultaneously, the hack came to a halt in front of the Mansion, Everly felt a sudden surge of relieve now that she'd eventually found herself home.

“How much do I owe you?” she asked, her stomach giving a curious twist as she said the words.

“Twenty dollars.”

It was a long and hectic ride from coven town to Victorino estate. She patted her body vigorously, fortunately for her, she had some money on her. Although, she had forgotten to take her bag and fanciful pair of shoes, she cared less, her safety was her only priority.

Her mother, Elyria, would definitely help her get back the things she lost, she lifted her arm, settled him and pushed the door open. On getting to the gate, she yelled,

“Mom!”

Hubbard could recognize his daughter's voice, even in his dreams, he grinned, just as expected, she had finally returned to where she belonged, her home. Elyria gazed out through the high windows from the fifth floor.

simultaneously, the masked man also gazed at her with a brief tilt of his head to see who it was, but she had already got into the Mansion, he only got to see a bit of her electric-blue hair.

“Woah!”

he expelled his breath and sped off.
