Episode 7

CHAPTER SEVEN

Damien had walked out of the school. He decided to leave earlier, the humiliation and pestering were driving him out of his mind. He walked out in pains and hatred at the people who were the cause of his pains and miseries.

He couldn't wait behind to receive the rest of his lectures. Not in that space and also not with everyone reminding him of what a lowlife he was.

He glanced down at his clothes, that were covered in all sorts of drinks and food.

He was tired already, he couldn’t fathom how people who never knew him held such amount of hate for him. They decided to hate him because he wasn’t rich. He was rich like Parker. He was sure they would also have taken sides with him.

Damien thoughts about his parents, he intend to just give up on school and return home. He couldn’t cope in this hellhole.

He needed to go to the place where he knew he would be accepted.

He noticed someone following him. 'Hasn’t his day been worst already? What more do they intend to do to him? Break him more' Damien thought bitterly.

He kept on walking as fast as he could. He was shivering; he was sure he would catch a fever with the amount of cold that he had endured for the just the day.

He arrived at his dorm when he noticed another man standing there. He wondered if the man was part of the one who had been trailing him from school.

Damien got closer and was about to ask the man a question when he noticed the camera in his hand.

He was about to move into the building, but flashing lights from the cameras blinded him. He noticed the men weren’t the only ones posing as passersby. There were more of them at the front of the building.

He couldn't go out through the main entrance. If he did, then the nosy reporters would be all over him with their cameras and lights focused on him.

Damien decided to go back and take the path that leads to the back door into the building.

Damien gave out a frustrated cry. He wondered why the paparazzi had followed him. What sort of information do they intend to get that they haven’t gotten before? Even if he didn’t say a thing, he knew they were ready to spill any truth into lies to get something out there for the public.

They began throwing questions at Damien when they noticed he was hellbent on escaping from them.

“Is it true that you and miss beauty were really into a relationship?” one of the reporters threw a question at Damien.

Damien didn’t want more trouble and decided to keep mute, not as if the paparazzi were really interested in knowing the truth. They just needed juicy details to make the headline.

"How do you feel being rejected?”

"Did you really have a relationship with Kai Rivers, or you just wanted to gain fame with your stunt?” Another asked.

“Do you really work in the Golden Era?”

"Were you paid to come destroy miss beauty’s reputation?”

“There is a rumor you are in the same college with Miss Beauty. how true is that?”

"What's your real identity?”

Damien was tempted to laugh at all their incessant questions, but the situation he was in wasn’t funny. Laughter was nowhere close to what he felt.

Fame? They think he did it for fame.

He scoffed. What would fame had done for him other than what he is receiving now, not that… that was his intentions.

He only made mistakes about going over to ask Kai questions. He should have watched and queried her later when he would have left the Golden Era.

He sighed as he walked past the reporters and their incessant question thrown at him.

Damien finally got away from the reporters. He sighed in relief as he followed the path that leads to the back door of the campus dorm.

He was actually thankful that he was away from home and his parents weren’t close. They were miles away in another city.

They wouldn't be able to watch videos of his humiliations, and he was really thankful for that.

If they by chance get to watch that awful video, to save them the heartache, he was he going to tell them something else. He can’t hurt his parents that way.

He muttered a silent prayer. If the videos have circulated in the neighborhood, he prayed his parents didn’t fall into the humiliation he had received.

Kai had really changed his views about women, and he wished never to cross paths with Kai ever again.

She had played him like a fool till the end and he cursed himself for not not suspecting any foul play.

He was so blinded by the love he conjured in his own fantasy that he had followed her till the end.

Damien was  lost in his thoughts, deeply engrossed about in his misery when he jolted out of his reverie by a tap on his shoulder.

"I believe you are the guy who has been trending on social media platforms" The man standing behind him who had tapped him asked as he stared at him as though he was trying to be sure of something.

"No, I'm not," Damien quickly answered and increased his pace immediately. It seemed like what he had dreaded and was about to happen now. Damien didn’t know how he had not noticed the man trailing him before.

'Shit!' Damien cussed as he noticed the persistent man was still following him. It further confirmed his fears when he noticed that the bald man stalking him had a camera hung on his shoulders.

‘The fucking paparazzi! Can’t they seem to let me be' he muttered angrily under his breath, wishing badly that he would turn back and not garner more attention on the streets.
