A councillor

"Are you sick?" Liya asked, looking at me with worry.

I nodded and put the pill in my mouth. I wasn't sick but I guess this is the way to make me take the pill without been suspected.

My father leaned closer to me, "You will really feel sick darling. You will not know what is going on again in few minutes. This is the only way that can help you out of this situation. Don't worry, I will be with you." he said. I nodded and focused on the podium.

"Aliyah Khepri." the vice president called.

Aliyah smiled and left for the podium. She was chosen as an Entertainer. Happily, she joined her new group.

        "Aurora Lee."

I was called next. I stood up but found it difficult to move. My whole body became weak and my head seems to be spinning round. I felt dizzy, weak and nauseous as I kept walking with difficulty.

......

Alfredo watched his daughter as she walked to the podium sickly. He had a worried look on his face as she neared the podium. He was told the pill will save her identity from been exposed but at this moment, he was worried. What if it fails and his daughter get caught? That will be the end of his life as she is the only one in his life. Losing her will be losing everything. He had told her to trust her, and now he is worried he will break her trust.

He held his breath as she cut her hand and just as they had told him, it wasn't dark blood. She placed her hand on the robot and no light stoned on her making him all the more worried. She weakly looked at him and he could see her asking for help. He knew he had to do something even though he has to take her from there and run away. He has to save his daughter. He has to.

He stood up and made a move to go down to the podium but the robot stoned a green light on her. She moved her head and fell to the ground unconsciously, causing a gasp from the crowd.

        "Councillor." The robot said.

Alfredo hurriedly ran down to the podium and with the help of some Staunchers, she was taken out of the building.

Elena and Aliyah watched as she was moved outside with worried looks on their faces. They had wondered why Aurora have been so quiet and now, they know she is sick. She wasn't the type to get sick so it was more worrisome for them.

"I hope she gets better." Elena said quietly.

......

I groaned as the bright lights hit my eyes. I shut them immediately and opened my eyes again, this time adjusting to the lights. I was in a white room with a drip fixed to my hand and a machine beeping.

I groaned and looked beside me. I was in a hospital but I don't remember how I got there at the first place.

The door opened and dad came in with a doctor behind him. He smiled at me as he got closer and gave me a kiss on my forehead. "Thank goodness sweetie." he said smiling proudly.

"Dad what happened to me?" I asked weakly.

He smiled at me and arranged my hair. The doctor came forward and checked my eyes. "Are you feeling any pain anywhere miss Aurora?"

        "No."

He checked me up and faced my father. "She is fine now, all she needs is her drugs and she will be better."

Dad nodded and thanked the door. He sat beside me immediately the doctor left. "Dear it worked, no one knows you are a freedite and you were given a talent." he said.

I stared at him with wide eyes unable to believe what he just said to me. I managed to seat up and looked at him with questioning look.

"All I remember is getting ready for the chosen day and going to the hall. I don't remember anything else and how I was chosen. What is going on here?"

"You remember I told you about a pill right?"

"Yes I do remember. You said something about me receiving a pill."

"Yes. I did give you the pill but in the disguise of you having fever. You took it and it worked. The effect did worked."

        "I don't understand."

"The pill was to change your blood to a normal human blood and also no trace of freedite blood was found in you. You are safe and you are now a councillor."

"A councillor? I was chosen as a councillor?" I asked not believing my ears. That have been what

I wished to be but because of me been a freedite, I was scared of having any dream and immediately let go of everything I wished to be. But now, I can wish them back cause I am safe.

I hugged my dad tight while he patted me gently. "We wouldn't have to worry about finding out your secret for any test again." he said.

I nodded and looked at him. "Thank you for keeping your promise dad."

"It's my duty to keep my promises to you. I promised your mother that I will always take care of you, I will take care of you all your life and I will go extra miles just to keep those promises." he said.

I nodded and wiped the tears threatening to flow down my cheeks. I am a councillor. I wasn't exposed and wasn't taken away from my father. I don't know how to describe how grateful I am that I have an awesome father who will do everything for me. The father who trained me like a mother and father.

My two best friends entered the room and ran towards me with tears in theirs eyes.

"Aurora I was so worried." Elena said wiping off her tears. She cried out and hugged me tightly.
