Chapter 9: An Important Explanation (1)

["Why won't you acknowledge me?"]

The voice was tiny and felt like a child. It felt like a part of his thoughts but he could tell that it wasn't.

"Who are you?", Aiden immediately asked, speaking in his mind while his mouth responded to the King's questions.

"This is the royal physician that looked after you when you were still unconscious and his only disciple"

King Robert introduced the two in one sentence.

Aiden who had just raised his head had to bow again to greet the old man.

He could now put a face to the man who had drawn his blood without permission.

Drawing his blood to test was not something special but the fact that it had been done sneakily for some reason made things look... wrong.

"Thank you, sir, for your care"

"It was not an issue. You're welcome", the old man replied.

As soon as Aiden heard the voice, he could confirm his thoughts. This was indeed the same man who had taken his blood.

In that case, all this was very clear.

The old man had found something strange happening with his blood, earlier that day. He had reported it to the King and they had come to the library to test the veracity of the statement.

There was positive feedback from the test but it had probably not been enough, especially when he made the blood calm down.

He had been summoned to see if there would be any more changes or something to observe that changed since the source of the blood was standing there.

Unfortunately for them, the reaction was the same as when it was only his blood. It had even been slightly worse since he quickly calmed the reactions from his blood.

He was pretty unhappy with the old man who had taken things without permission but his thoughts were very tame. It was limited to getting his blood back as he was uncomfortable leaving it with some person that could potentially peer into the secrets of his blood.

It was clear that even though the blood had left his body, it was still connected to him in some ways.

It would be pretty bad for him if the primordial blood essence also recovered in the blood taken. Who knew...

["We should talk later, looks like my inclinations are unacceptable at the moment. Just direct your thoughts to me when you are free and I will answer"]

The sentence seemed to be etched in his mind.

Aiden was startled once more but it was much easier to recollect himself this time.

The hawk-eyed head supervisor noticed this but did not say anything. She seemed to write it off as nervousness from being in front of the King.

"Aiden, the reason you were called here was that the royal library has closed its doors, refusing anyone entry except the old sage who serves as the keeper of the library"

"Earlier today, the old sage mentioned that the chime of bells from the library was because the library sensed the presence of the inheritor of The Primordial World Guardian"

"He also said that only when the inheritor accepted the call of the library would its ever doors open"

"He said that the library has been transformed and it will open its depth of knowledge, providing them to those who are fated with it"

King Robert then raised a small bottle, showing it to Aiden.

"This is some of your blood that was extracted to be used for diagnosis by the royal physician", he said.

"You had awoken, so it was considered useless and meant to be thrown away but at the moment when the bells chimed from the library earlier today, this bottle of blood showed some extraordinary reactions"

"It was brought into proximity of the library and its reaction was just as earlier today"

"What did you feel as you came close to the library?"

In his mind, Aiden was nodding along with a solemn gaze because this was exactly what he guessed had happened.

The only part that was not the full truth was where the king said the blood was taken for diagnostic purposes. Either, the old man had not told the whole truth or the King had not spoken about it intentionally.

"Your Majesty, I could feel my blood getting excited when some ways away but it continued to reduce until I got to the library where it completely stopped"

"Did you come anywhere near the library earlier today?", King Robert asked.

"I had intended to visit the library but I was only able to see the library before the chime of the bells. Like just now, my blood got excited then"

King Robert nodded before he spoke, "report to the head supervisor if you discover anything out of the ordinary"

"Will do so, Your Majesty"

"You may take your leave. I believe you should know your way back"

"Good day, Your Majesty", Aiden greeted politely. He bowed to the old man and the head supervisor before slowly backing off.

"I will keep this bottle with me for now", King Robert said.

Aiden heard this but he kept his thoughts to himself. He wanted the bottle but it was not an option when the king was holding onto it.

He walked away from the library with even steps. He looked perfectly normal as he walked away. He did turn his head to look back till he disappeared from the view of those in front of the library.

Even though he tried to make himself look calm as he walked back to his room, his mind was part excited and part nervous.

He was thinking of the voice that had intruded into his mind, speaking to him like he was right there in his thoughts.

He entered his room and closed the door. Nervous he paced to and fro before finally sitting on the bed.

He took a deep breath and sent his thought, "I am back in my room. Who are you?"

There was silence for a few seconds before he heard the same childlike voice resound in his mind.

["Who am I? That depends on what you know. Let's just say I am part of a whole"]

Aiden visibly frowned because the answer was quite nonsensical. It was almost the same as saying nothing.

["Hey, calm down. I am telling the truth. I am exactly what you guessed I am but I'm only part of a whole"]

Aiden was a bit confused by what he heard.

"You have something to do with the library", he asked.

["Well, invading a part of your mind was the only way to communicate with you without you running away"]

It was only a few words but they resounded in Aiden's mind. This meant the voice he was hearing was from the library. He shivered when he thought of how easily his mind had been invaded.

"How were you able to invade my mind? I thought the library is just a building that the royal family built?"

Aiden had barely finished the thought when the voice snorted in derision.

[” How is The Chronicle Of Time something they can build? It was The Primordial World Guardian that sent out the branches not some puny humans"]

Aiden had puzzlement cover his face as his thoughts whirled around the new information he just heard.

The Chronicle Of Time...

The Primordial World Guardian...

These names seemed like they were very important.

He was about to ask about them when the voice spoke again...

[” I'll explain. It's embarrassing that you don't know these essential things"]

[” In the beginning, there was only The World Seed. From the world seed came the Void. The Void birthed the aether but the world remained empty. The World Seed then created The Chaos Rule.

The Chaos Rule as the name suggested created chaos in the void, turning the aether into a turbulent stream.

The Chaos Rule in its act of chaos transformed into different energy forms that formed the primary elements.

The primary elements are Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Space, and Time.

Each element formed also grew and transformed, forming new rules that governed a section of The Void.

The elements reacted with each other under The Chaos Rule to form different bodies. They formed planets, stars, galaxies, and many others. They effectively populated The Void as it was.

Time flew by and the world had undergone many transformations, evolving over and over again. Many more rules were also born and at some point, life came into being, simple particles of energy put together and infused with the aether.

Over millions of years, this life evolved into humans, animals, and plants that live on planets that supported their existence.

The flaw of life was its need for a constant supply of aether to survive. This led to the consumption of other living things as they also contained aether.

Over time, some humans and even some animals figured out that they could harness aether and the only thing that they needed was a strong body to withstand the energy. This was how Arcanas came to be.

Then the world eater came. Piercing through the boundaries of the world, it devoured life wherever it found them, sucking up energy everywhere it passed. Its goal was The World Seed.

At this time, the most powerful of humanity rose in defense of the world. The problem with The World Eater devouring The World Seed was that it was an anchor, the whole reason this world existed. Losing it was effectively killing the world.

Among the many that rose in defense, a few of them stood out as exceptional figures. They gained the recognition of two elemental rules to become celestials...”]

"Two Rules", Aiden was puzzled as he repeated the two words.

[” The world we are in runs on the principles of duality. Good and Bad, Light and Dark, Positive and Negative, Life and Death, Peace and War... You get the point. The duality is what forms a balance and this balance was required if those people wanted to receive the recognition of rules.

They took command of the rules into their bodies and became the rules. They were called The Ancient Celestials by the humans at the time.

There were seven of them and they are recorded as The Celestial Worthies in The Chronicle Of Time.

These seven led the charge in the war against The World Eater. They fought with everything they had, turning a part of the world into an unrecognizable mess.

Despite all of this, they were unable to beat The World Eater, let alone kill him. He was too powerful and his evil spawns kept coming.

In the end, The World Eater won by a slight margin, leaving The Ancient Celestials with severe injuries and humanity mostly destroyed.

The World Eater began to devour The World Seed, sending parts of the world into darkness when The Ancient Celestials squeezed out of the last of their vitality, handing it over to The Celestial Worthy of Heaven to use in a final attack.

Six Ancient Celestials died that day, leaving one of them who had used that colossal amount of energy to severely injure The World Eater.

The Celestial Worthy of Heaven in the last act also gave himself as a sacrifice to the World Seed, fusing with it to destroy The World Eater once and for all.

The result was sealing The World Eater away as killing it was impossible in the state The Celestial Worthy of Heaven was in at the time.

This act took a lot of energy to accomplish and it almost made the world collapse. The World Seed had to enter hibernation to keep the world together. This was done by the unrelenting will of The Primordial World Guardian who had fused partially with the World Seed.

That day, a prophecy was left in The Chronicle Of Time, a prophecy that dictates the awakening of The World Eater at a later time

It says:"]
