Chapter eight

"The fact remains that I need to be married. It can be a contract marriage if you want. You are the perfect choice for me. Others will just do it for my money and lay stupid conditions." she said to me.

"So your best option was a poor nobody who was just caught for a crime he did not commit?" I asked her, feeling that both she and her grandfather had lost their minds or had an alternate plan.

"You are honest and kind at heart and not for a price. Plus, you are gorgeous so you can pass for a male model or most likely a hot bodyguard. And to be honest, I want to get to know you." she said and batted her eyelashes at me.

I looked at her grandfather and then at her. I gave it a thought for almost five full minutes as I paced from side to side with an aching stomach.

Most likely it would be the excess hunger I've been through in the past and the overworking at a minimal paying block factory that gave me my god-like body and rock-hard abs.

And come to think of it, it's not like I have a life to get back to. What's wrong if I marry her? In addition, I would be in a better position and state to think about how the pendant came to be or rather if I would do as the woman said to me and go to a mo.

I walked up to them and nodded, "I will marry your granddaughter. But with one condition." I said to the old man.

They both exchanged glances with each other, "what is your condition?" the old man asked me.

"I want the world to know me under a different name," I answered. The lady smiled, "that will not be a problem. Right grandpa?" the lady said.

"I suppose so," he replied and the lady jumped into my arms, hugging me. She then parted from me and took my hand. "I think we will start with a makeover," she said to me as her grandfather paid the bail.

"Oh! You don't even know my name. I am Clarissa, Clarissa Charles. So, what is your real name and what name would you want to go by?" Clarissa asked me.

"I am sorry but I will be keeping that a secret as well. From the moment I leave here with you and your grandfather, I want to be known as Alec." I answered her. At this moment, I did not know who to trust. Them being rich could also mean that they knew the Vandelsons or is close with them. Whatever it may be, I could not risk it.

"Wow! That's nice. Alec Stone would be good. Don't you agree?" she asked. "Okay," I said to her.

"Let's go." her grandfather said. All three of us exited the police station. And outside was an outstanding limousine waiting for us.

The chauffeur came out and opened the door at the very end of the limousine. My mouth fell open as I stood in shock watching the old man and his granddaughter enter.

"Are you coming or not?" Clarissa asked me. I shook it off and went in with them. It was even more magnificent on the inside than on the outside.

"There's more where this came from. Just as long as you remain my obedient little husband, I will provide all that you need." Clarissa whispered into my ear. Her words somehow sent shivers down my spine.

I hoped so badly within myself that I wasn't making the wrong decision.

"And this is your room," Clarissa said to Alec with a smiling face. Alec walked into the room with his eyes sparkling at everything he saw.

"Just make yourself at home. The family designer will be here soon to take your measurements for some new clothes. As of now, I have something to take care of." Clarissa said to him.

Clarissa shut the room door and then went to her room. The door to her room opened again, minutes after she went in.

"Are you sure this will work miss?" Clarissa's supposed grandfather asked her as she remained seated in front of a mirror and fixed up her hair.

"Have you forgotten how to knock?" Clarissa questioned in annoyance. The old man bowed his head, "I am sorry about that miss. Please pardon my mistake." he said to Clarissa.

"Whatever," Clarissa replied to him, focusing on her reflection in the mirror she had in front of her.

"Of course, I am sure that the plan will work. With the help of that clueless guy, I will finally take back what belongs to my family. You just watch and see." Clarissa answered.

"And why are you now calling me miss? Call me Clarissa or granddaughter. You dare not break character in front of Alec." Clarissa warned the old man.

"I paid you for this and I don't want you wasting it away," Clarissa added. The old man has worked as the butler of Clarissa's family for years. Who better to pick for this role than an old man she knew inside and out?

"Yes. I fully understand," the old man replied to Clarissa.

Clarissa got up from where she was seated and started to walk towards the old man,

"The Vandelson twins had their laughs and soon it will be my turn. They made a joke about me and my feelings. They toyed with my emotions and both used me, one pretending to be the other. I just hate them." Clarissa said, in anger and then sighed.

"Nevertheless I will have my revenge on both of them," Clarissa added.

"But why would you choose this man Alec to be your husband?" the old man asked.

Clarissa smirked at him, "Why not him? Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. He was there in the place the twins' mother died and so I believe he is somehow connected to them if his house was at least her first stop." Clarissa explained to him.

"Now come let's go. I have a movie to star in." Clarissa said as she walked passed the old man. He left her room and locked the door and he followed her from behind.
