09: Danyio

The three individuals went into the primary room. Barrett recognized the significance of the large empty rectangle in the center of the room as soon as he saw it because the tables had been arranged in such a way as to create it.

No matter how thoroughly they attempted to clean that location, it had an overwhelming odor of blood and perspiration.

At the far end of the room, several staircases supported a makeshift throne that was occupied by a guy dressed in a green silk robe embroidered with gold flowers.

“Barrett, the Barbaric, the undefeated, the invincible... The traitor!” The man with a glass of whiskey in his hand said.

Barrett advanced and looked at him directly, the man was smiling, and on all his fingers, he had gold rings that gleamed against the lamp in the room.

“You are a legend…” the man said, smiling.

Barrett advanced. After kneeling down, he said, “Nice to see you, Danyio….”

The man let out a hearty laugh before replying, “Manners… that is useless for a man of your lineage….” He shook his head, “Stop. The only thing that interests me about you is your hands. Sahid says that you still have victory in yourself, but it is little. I want to know if it’s true!”

Barrett turned his gaze towards the direction of the sound and saw the young woman grinning as she sat at a table.

He nodded. Barrett came to the conclusion that he was wasting his time by attempting to excel in an area in which he had no natural talent.

“Tell me, who do I have to smash in the face to end this?”  Barrett asked, smiling.

“That looks more like you, although you are missing something. I don’t know what it is. But we will find out soon,” Danyio said as he looked at him with a smile.

One of the side doors was opened, and a man walked out. He was wearing blue jean pants that were bonded to the leather, and he was wearing athletic shoes.

His upper body was exposed, revealing a well-developed muscle structure behind the dense mane of hair that covered it.

“You called me, Danyio?” The man said, smiling as he looked ahead.

The man on top of the throne looked at him and said, “Luke, it’s good that you’re here. Are you recovered yet?”

The man nodded.

“Is he the one to face me?” He asked when he noticed Barrett.

Barrett took a good look at the man and noticed that he had an appealing face, complete with a trim beard, eyes that were focused on him, and well-combed black hair.

He did not look like the usual fighters in the Hole.

“He doesn’t have much for me!” The man remarked, grinning confidently.

Let’s see if you can still grin like that when I am done fighting with you, Barrett thought with clenched fists.

“This is the deal, Barrett! If you can last three minutes without shitting yourself or dying with Luke, then I will consider that you can go to the bottom of my ranking and start climbing. What do you think?” the Danyio said.

Barrett looked at him, and with a smile, he asked, “What if I break this asshole’s head off? Will I take his place?”

“Yes, exactly. If you open his head, you can be in his place...” Damyio said, contemplating.

Barrett nodded and, seeing the man began to take off his shirt. He left it on a table beside the woman.

“Be careful…” the woman whispered.

Barrett rolled his eyes and turned around, and put himself on guard.

The individual who was standing in front of him appeared disinterested and irritated as if being forced to engage in combat with Barrett was not only an affront to him but also a form of retribution.

Barrett brought his palms together in a fist. He appeared to be enjoying himself as he glanced ahead as though it were nothing out of the ordinary.

The Danyio gave the signal to start, and Barrett launched himself against the man without stopping.

However, when he was some distance away, a shadow rose from the ground and landed directly in front of his face.

When Barrett saw Luke kick the air with such force that it would have severed his head off, he was able to halt in time to avoid being hit.

Barrett took a few steps back and noticed Danyio’s grin. The man standing in front of Barrett was pretty powerful and undoubtedly placed among the top in the ranking.

Defeating him would be the key to his getting rich quickly and making money.

Barrett looked forward without breaking eye contact. Even though he hadn’t scored a hit yet, the opponent Luke was up against appeared to have won the fight by the look on his face.

Barrett gripped his hands tightly. He was aware that if he were to prevail over this opponent, he would move much closer to first place and the financial reward that came along with it.

And with lightning quickness, he thrust his weight forward and started moving in the forward direction.

Luke was falling more behind with each step that Barrett took, and although he was moving quickly across a relatively short distance.

Luke’s posture was shifting more quickly than Barrett could react to the change.

While he saw him, he was prepared to execute a kick lateral that, when leaving an impact in the den that Barrett had climbed, he was going to attempt to take down.

Barrett was looking for a significant impact, and he got exactly what he was hoping for.

Because he had to move his feet backward in order to maintain his equilibrium, he was completely unaware that his body had run into the table.

Barrett stared at the table, and in his head, a large number of stakes were lodged in his body.

This was one of the combat modalities that were available in the underworld.

The man broadly grinned while staring straight ahead as if the other person had somehow read his thinking.

“You’re going to pay for that!” Barrett yelled as he hurriedly got up.

Grabbing the chair, he hurled it at Luke with tremendous force, but the wrestler leaping into the air, easily blew it apart with a kick.

However, Barrett had already established a strong relationship with him. He used the distraction to close in and melee. He was aware that the man was not capable of delivering those powerful kicks.

From close range, Barrett landed two punches straight at Luke’s stomach that hit hard, and from there, he unleashed a strong uppercut that hit his opponent square in the jaw.

Luke pushed his body back from the blow, and Barrett, feeling like the winner, opened his eyes only to see how Luke hit the ground with his hand and putting all the weight of his body on his hand, he raised his feet with force towards the ground Barrett’s face

Terrified, Barrett raised his guard and took the impact in his arms, but the blow was so strong that he knocked him down anyway.

On the ground, from the back of his head, blood began to come out, and without being able to believe it, he looked at Luke.
