Chapter 4

One could feel the tension at  the station, caused by Laurel's actions, they were monitoring her every move, but sadly, fifty three souls had been lost over the past two months. It seemed like it got worse by the day ever since Kyle Newton was put on the case. The news of there serial killer had spread like wildfire and Los Angeles has lost its beauty, the nights are quiet and cold, the roads are lonely and the inhabitants are living in fear.

"It's quite funny how you still move freely amongst them" Randy laughed.

"I'm the boss around here" Laurel giggled taking a sip from her glass.

"You quite young too" he said.

"You should have known that before picking me up for the job" she smiled, "besides I'm just 26" she smirked coming closer.

"It's not all about fuck" Randy smiled.

"Says the guy who has a boner" she scoffed but Randy grabbed her as she was about to sit.

"Finish what you started" he whispered.

**************************************************

Kyle needed a break from the whole issue and stepped out into a nearby eatery, looking around they were no seats left then he spotted a lady sitting alone close to the window.

"Can I sit?" He asked.

"Sure" the lady said without looking up.

"Good morning by the way" he greeted.

"Same" she replied still looking down. Then a waiter walked up to him and he placed an order.

"I'll take another bottle" she said to the waiter.

"You seem to have had two already" Kyle muttered.

"And it doesn't look like you're paying" she said looking up this time.

"Wow" he said.

"I know I'm beautiful" she smiled.

"Nope, not that.... I mean... Yes you are.. but you look too young to be drinking this much" he stated, "who did you come with" he asked looking around.

"I'm fucking 19, I know I look baby-ish" she scoffed.

"Nineteen, wow" he said again, the waiter came with their orders and he digged in immediately.

"Seems like you haven't eaten in years" she scoffed and he choked, she immediately offered water which he took, muttering a thank you.

"Been working my ass off lately, didn't realize I was this hungry" he explained.

"You working already, you look quite young too" she said.

"Yes and I am 23" he said and she mouthed an 'oh' . Silence fell on them again as she drank staring out the window while he ate. Kyle noticed how lost she was and dropped his cutleries.

"Mind sharing" he asked bringing her back to reality.

"Excuse me" she stared.

"I'm just saying, you look lost" he said.

"And depressed? Yeah, I get that, it's the life of this boring teenager" she smiled, "I'm fine, it's my way though"

"You don't look boring to me" he said.

"It's either you're trying to cheer me up or you're hitting on me" she smiled.

"Kyle" he said.

"Cheryl... Nice name by the way" she said.

"Same.. and I am serious.. you don't seem boring to me" he smiled and her phone rang.

"Thanks Kyle, I'll see you around" she smiled and stood up to leave and Kyle gasped, he doesn't really check girls out, he couldn't help but notice her slender waist and straight legs not to mention her long hair and she did smell nice, really nice when she passed.

"Today might go just well" he muttered smiling to himself.

SECRET BASEMENT:::

"Ma'am" he bowed in acknowledge.

"She got hurt" the woman said.

"It was a mistake" he replied still looking down.

"She was shot twice, how could you let this happen" she yelled and he flinched.

"The general put him on the case, I couldn't do anything about it" he replied.

"Tell Laurel three days, she is not to strike for three days, I know detective more than you do" she sneered and left.
