The last hope

Sunday,

 12 o'clock in the morning,

Emir is sitting outside Mr. Martin's office.         Emir has been sleepless for the last three nights. If there was no pressure from the upper floor, he would not be able to do so much physical work. The purpose of coming here today is to answer some questions. He has been sitting on the sofa outside for the past half hour.  Mr. Martine is busy with an urgent matter. There is no rush for Emir.  So he is sitting there. Suddenly Mathew (Martin's secretary) came and informed Mr. Martin had called him.  While entering Martine's room, Emir noticed that Sub-Inspector Damon was leaving the room.  Seeing Emir, he saluted. Then he bowed his head like a thief and went out. Emir smiled crookedly and Mr. Martine was smoking a cigar in the room. He gestured to Damon to sit down.  He put down his cigar and asked in a cold voice,

" How far has the case gone, officer?  I heard the girl is in custody?"

"Yes sir. The investigation is ongoing.  We want to see the end of this case."

"Now there is nothing to investigate.  Evidence found, the murderer found. You guys waiting for what? Now I'm just waiting for the court verdict."

Emir smiled silently when he heard the words of Mr. Martine.  Then he says coldly,

"Sir, don't you want to catch the killer?"

 "What do you mean?"

"The murderer doesn't agree with you just because she's angry with someone. How can she kill her husband? Of course, the murderer made the table well, but he did not choose the man well. Otherwise, a blunt knife would never have been found under the sofa. Sir, don’t worry. We will catch the real killer."

Mr. Martine did not give any answer. He just cast a fiery glance at Emir. When Emir greeted him and left, he said in a hushed voice,

" I gave you five days, if you can't catch the killer in between, I'll end it like me. If my son had not gone to see that girl, I believe he would be alive today. And I walk in my faith."

Emir did not answer. He also does not want to stigmatize any failure in his working life. So it is more important to find clues without wasting time talking to these old people.

Forensic doctor Lay Jayden conducted an autopsy on Marrow. Emir is now sitting in front of him.  Mr. Jayden is preparing another autopsy report. And from time to time he is just sipping a cup of tea. Emir knows that Mr. Jayden is the only hope to find the real killer. Emir asks him in a restless voice,

" Did you find anything from the polythene I gave you, Mr.Jayden?"

"Hmm, you guessed it, right. Marrow was killed with a knife which was found in polythene."

"There was more with the knife, gloves, a handkerchief. Have any finger plates been found from them?"

 " Hmm. I found it. "

"So, did the data match with anyone?"

This time Mr. Jayden looked up. He stared at Emir for a while. He has a problem with his eyes. Then he adjusted his glasses and said,

"Emir, let me tell you something! This is a very hopeless case. Don't waste time on unnecessary cases. I don’t think you can find the real killer."

"What! Why are you talking to me like this all of a sudden? You know me very well. You think… I.. can't? So, you have doubts about my dedication!"

"I don’t mean it."

"Then,what?"

Emir asked in a surprised voice, all that was expected seemed to be shattered in an instant after hearing Mr. Jayden's words. Mr. Jayden gathered his hands, leaned back in his chair, and said,

" The person whose fingerprint was found in the gloves is dead ......."
