First Meeting with Sylvia Oxford

I walked out of the taxi after paying the 750 primo coins, and after getting out the first thing I saw was the board above the main gate of the building.

|| Sunshine Apartments ||

Looking down and picking up my luggage, I moved inside and got a better look at everything.

It was a run-down apartment building on the outskirts of town, with damaged walls and peeling paint. The moisture that seeped in from the humid environment gave the building a dull appearance.

In my taxi when i was about to reach this appartment, i already gave a call to the manager here, and i didn't had to wait long as i saw a short fat man was running towards me.

" hufff! Huff! ... Welcome! Welcome! Mr.Noah, Come with me, let me show you your appartment. "

He was breathing hard and trying to intake as much air as he can like a drowned man who just got saved.

In a cheap place like this appartment, it was almost close to impossible finding an empty room, but 'where there's money involved there's always a way.'

By paying almost 4 times the amount of an average appartment for a week, and telling a sad story about ' how someone I know used to live here and now that they died, I wanted to visit this place a last time and help poor people here '. I was easily able to get an appartment here.

A handsome man with loads of money was like a VIP Customer in this place, so it wasn't anything odd that the manager was so polite to me and trying to butter me up.

Showing me my appartment gate which was on the first floor, the manager quickly left me with the keys.

" Weird man " I looked at the back of the manager and murmured.

Getting inside I saw  a small one room appartment with a kitchen, hall and washroom. The room was also worn out by humidity and time.

Now I realize why the manager was in a hurry to leave, maybe he thought that I would demand a refund after watching the condition of this appartment.

" Heh "

I smirked.

If I really came here just to live then that would definitely have been the case, but I  had nothing to complain about a place that was soon going to get destroyed anyway.

My motive was to just get a location near Sylvia and when the Monsters wave hit this place act like a hero and save the beauty, in this case her mother too.

Thinking of Slyvia sometimes I wonder why didn't she became a Regressor.

A girl with such a tragic life should have been the Main Character of a novel if this was some fanatasy world written by a handsome author.

A girl who lived a tough life working hard day and night, taking care of her mother, Saving her life from monsters, joining the academy to heal her mother's illness, only to find her mother dead at the end.

Breaking down with grief and getting up with a new resolve, only to get broken again by the true face of the society and finally rise to the top as a ruthless Archmage and become one of the most powerful Slayer in the world.

I can understand why she and I were such close friends in my last life.

" We really lived a very similar life "

If someone from future knows that the ruthless Archmage, once lived in a run down apartment like this and was a humble little meek girl, they would think I am a drunkard who finally lost his mind.

Taking out my smartphone I saw the time and it was 7:25 PM. There was still enough time to go check out the arch and come back before midnight.

Before comming here I did my research on the location of the Arch of Delvon but it was necessary for me to visit there atleast once, so that I can get a clear idea of the ruins'  exact location.

Getting out of the cab that I booked online, I started my hiking towards the arch. The low-tide were the only times during which the hike can be done and I didn't knew about this fact untill now, when my cab driver mentioned it.

It was my luck that this time of the year was of low-tide.

The terrain was rougher than I expected, and I had to stop a couple of times to check my location as there was no path for me to directly follow.

Half an hour had already passed since my journey up towards the arch, and although I was using my superhuman strength to run sometimes in the middle, I wasn't tired at all.

Well…considering the fact that I already had condensed mana inside of my body and my body talent level was D- , It really shouldn't come as a surprise that I managed to achieve this feat.

Keep in mind that if a normal human with no mana concentration in their body were to travel this long, they would by no means reach the same point as me. Then again, I really shouldn't compare myself with normal humans.

Following the meadow up north, I walked carefully as closer to the fence as I can, one misstep could make me fall of the cliff!!, Something I  really didn't want.

At certain points during my hike, I also walked on the rocky beach because they looked much easier to follow but all I get was a dead end, and I had to come back all the way to search for a new way.

Finally! After another hour of walking I could see the inverterted U structure formed as a result of thousands of years of erosion from the wild Ocean that stood tall at around 45m in height.

The entrance was actually not under the arch but 1 km north from the head of the arch around a big reef underwater.

Another few minutes of travelling later I removed all of my clothes, stored them in my storage ring and jumped straight in the sea where after diving deep underground, I finally found the reef I was looking for.

I could barely makeout the structure of an inverted Pentagram with a circle behind it. I was sure this was the entrance of the ruin that would be opened during the monster tide, tomorrow or day after tomorrow.

My task here was over so now it was time to go back.

New Day, new start, but for some people it might be their last.

The rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky. Golden fingers of sunlight lit up the scene.

Distributing tasty food and clothes to poor children outside took much of my time and I had to skip my training today.

" But it was all worth it  "

I was busy distributing and serving the food to a poor handicaped girl when I noticed a person stopped besides me.

Looking up I saw a little dirty faced boy who in reality was actually a girl.

I was working since early morning around the appartment streets and many people who were out for an early morning walk or were going to work had already asked me about my identity and how come I was helping Everyone.

This was all within my expectations to fish out my real target that finally appeared.

" Excuse me, do you need some help distributing these ? "

The brown haired 'boy' politely asked me, 'he' had a boy cut hairstyle that usually tomboy girls use, 'his' clothes was ragged, with many dirt and scar in 'his' body, nobody would give 'him' a second look, 'he' had brown hair and golden eyes, which even though had seen many tough situations but were still gentle like a mother's touch.

" Thank you very much my friend, but I am just fine. Hey why don't you come too and have some breakfast here " I politely spoke in a local accent and way, refering to each other as a friend even on first meeting was a show of your goodwill towards the other person.

' System! check her profile ' I commanded my system in my brain as a blue translucent screen appeared in my vision.

' would you look at that mana, she's already an F- in overall ranking.' I Marvelled at her talent.

" No I am fine and already had breakfast. haven't seen you around here ? "  In a neutral voice that hid her gender she spoke and sat down on the bench.

" I am from the Captial city and just came here yesterday, I knew someone, who had two last wishes before dying and from them, the second was to come to this place and help poor people " I spoke tilting down my head and making a fake sad face.

"  I am sorry for your loss, but if you don't mind me asking, could you tell us who your friend was and why this was his wish, maybe I knew him and could help you in someway so that his soul can Rest in peace "

Sylvia spoke, her voice had a very calming feel to it.

" I don't know who he was. I just know that his name was Alvin Tate. I don't know why he made that wish, but he was someone who gave up his life to give me life. I am grateful for everything he did for me and its my duty to fulfill his every wish ".

Hearing my story she had a shocked face and was just nodding her head.

" You had a very good friend "

" No, he wasn't my friend. I didn't even knew him "
