The Game

It was December during winter, it was all cold and the snow kept falling

Even though the thick curtains had been drawn shut there is still cold in the atmosphere, nothing can stop it.

The wind blew inside the house through the loophole beside the window and blew against the figure that is lying on the bed beside the window.

Ring!

The phone rang for third time.

The boy lying on the bed is too lazy to answer the call earlier well he did this time

"Sean? This is doctor Ben. It's been two years since you have eye problem, if you don't treat it now, you might lose the chance and get blind completely?"

Official and polite as usual

Sean ignored the words as he concentrated on the game cartridge in his hand.

Dark blue color, in size of an egg, with a clip mouth

After he checked it, Sean clipped the cartridge that had cost all his savings with the virtual glasses

Clip!

Everything he saw changed the moment he put the glass on and an alert sign appeared

He didn't care

There was no such thing as safety hazard warning or safety measures when it comes to virtual games

He didn't care about the hazards of the game.

When the game was released few months ago, it claimed it  can achieve a hundred percent realism

Normally, it is supposed to overthrow the popularism of other games that has low realism percentage and become the best

However, the game was banned before it was released to market because of it's high realism

Real enough to kill you if you fail a game mission

According to rumors, the first people that played the game were found dead few days later

Report of dead people almost every day made the government decide that it won't be released to market. Even so, Sean heard there is one of this casino shops were the game can be bought secretly with lots of money

There is another rumor that the game developers do force some thugs or any random person into the game

Reason: if not enough people play the game, the loss is theirs

Sean wished he was part of those forced into the game; he won't have to safe this much to buy the game

Without thinking twice about the stress he had to go through to buy the game, the payment of extra fees, how expensive the game is and the potential danger that awaits him in the game, Sean bought the game

If he did not manage to gather 2 million for his medical fees, he will go blind completely

2 million might not have been that big for a rich person but for Sean, it was unachievable

Five years ago, when he had an accident and hurt his eyes and brain, he already spent lots of money in hindring his brain from having tumor though he wasn't struggling to make a living then

He was only thirteen years then when he had this accident which also killed his parents. After spending all his parents money on treatment, he had nothing to survive with, except his twin sister

As s young boy with no academic results, he was unable to get any job anywhere due to his age

Still schooling, he could only work part time in an automatic workshop. He has been trying to contribute two million since then but no matter how hard he worked,he never had enough; even to survive

He forgot about schooling and focus on full time working,  he contributed for a long time but all he could get the whole years is a two hundred thousand

That wasn't even close

He had so much dreams for his life and he did not want to die young.

His health was deteriorating and he might die anyway

Then, he heard of a virtual game from one of the casino players that works in his place

Rumours had it that any good equipment could sell for millions in the game so Sean took the chance

He used his savings of five years to buy the game

"Do it or die" he thought to himself

When the alert sign vanished from his sight, the glass was pulled from his face. It was his twin sister that pulled it.

"What were you thinking?" Sean shouted at his sister, he though he couldn't see her well, he still somehow recognize her

"You bought the game without telling me and now you are about to play it without telling me, are you trying to get yourself killed?"

"I'm trying to survive, we can't keep living like this"

"Brother, thus game is capable of killing people"

"What if? I'm blind and can't work anymore, I can't sit and just wait for death"

"Brother I...can I play the game with you?"

"No, you have to stay here and survive in case I die"

"You won't die brother, play and be safe"

Her brother was determined, there is nothing she can say to convince him so she just let him play in peace

Sean put the glass back on and new words appeared in his vision

Sean's sister; Trina left the room after her brother lied down and play his game. There is this 30 percent reality game that Trina had since five years ago, when their parents were still alive. She went to her room to play the game. She controlled her NPC character , a werewolf alpha as she fought in battle. After she won the battle, some story line appeared

The alpha, Brutus of the dark sun circle lifted his wolf's head to the sky, worn yet energized by the day of the battle. As the circle priest had promised, you had one shortly after sunset and stood triumphant, over the body of his slain enemy.

The battlefields were littered with the dead and dying, enemies and friendlies slaughtered by his bloodlustband brute strength. He looked at the body of the men who served him, he counted the dead and nodded in satisfaction.

It was a good day except he needed a new priest, the circle priest whose corpe laid among the corpses, in his multi-coloured robe fluttering in the winter breeze.

After defeating two wolves packs in a day and just a few remaining to oppose him, he did have time to celebrate his victory with a feast. The end of the world of the beasts era has dawn, and with it is the fulfillment of a thousand years curse that hinder most of his strength, the fate of the dark sun circle depends on him. "It must not fail ".

The story line made Trina pit her head in the game, her next mission is finding a priest for the Circle

While trying to focus, her phone rang immediately and the noise from it jeered her out of the playing zone. On hearing the call, she dropped the game pad and sluggishly picked her call. She hated being interrupted when she is playing her game, she once fought Sean over that matter

It's actually Carrie, her best friend that called so she tried to brighten her mood

"Hey girl, what's up "

Carrie said nothing for a long time, it isn't her first time. That is how she always do whenever she has super gist or a surprise

"Out with it " I said

"I have always known you to be good in guessing, well, Randy proposed"

I smiled a little and went back to my grambling face.

"Come on girl, why the boredom?"

"I'm sorry to say this but your call interrupted me"

"Oh really "

"uh, you not hanging up is also hindering me from resuming what I was doing "

"So you don't want me right "

"Please don't be upset*

"I wont be upset if you are not telling me to hang up"

"Sure, sure, ok. Say what you want "

"So what about jaylen?"

"Oh, that freaking guy "I paused frowing my face and continue "he broke up last weekend "

"I am so sorry "

" shit happens gril, it is not the first time"

"You know, I don't understand. You guys have been dating for almost a year and he just went away "

"He said I spend too much time alone, uninteresting, and I behave like the an NPC in the games a played, not like a real person "

Carrie is silent for a while before she replied "I am sorry to say this but he is right because even I sometimes want to leave you as a friend. You know, this friendship is...I don't know but I am fed up. You are always busy with games and all, you can't even go out with your boyfriend or even me. You should change girl "

it's just five years ago that our parents died, only in the playing of games do I get away from missing them or thinking about them . I got so much intoxicated that I believe that there is nothing else in the world more interesting. if I don't keep playing, what will I be doing? Probably just feeling alone and spend all day in boredom. There is no restriction to game playing after all

"You are condemning me now "

"he was good for you" Carrie said with a sober voice and continue "ok I am sorry I hurled those hurtful words at you, maybe this will encourage you to be more lively "

"I don't want to be lively, I am good being alone. I don't care what people think of me. If I am not good for him…"  Trina fought back in tears.

"Okay girl, that enough. Anything we can do together? "

"no thanks Carrie "

"You don't want me to come over? "

" not now, you should stay home and I will call you later"

Trina said and hanged up. Without thinking twice, she picked up the game pad a resumed gaming

The blood Moon is the title of the mission she is playing, an unfinished game story that she bought. Her game do upload more mission stories everyday and this part that she just finished playing is of yesterday.
