049: The Hand

"Bring it," Prosecutor Adams ordered one of his bodyguards. It was clear they had something in their car.

"Bring what?" Harriet Calhoun asked, but there was no response. They all watched as the man opened the car and brought out a brown briefcase.

"What does he have in there?" Macey asked no one in particular, but November knew it was money. He threatened Chase's dad that he would return and kill his son if he didn't look for a way to fix things.

"Here, Harriet Calhoun. This is five hundred thousand dollars. To fix the damages my son caused," Chase's father said, and the briefcase was opened, displaying stacks of dollars.

There was a pause as everyone blinked in amazement. The money was huge. It would go a long long way.

November felt a heavy weight lifted off his shoulders. The money was enough, they could get their home once more.

But his mom wasn't moved by it. Her chest was rising and falling violently as if she was thinking of multiple ways to kill Chase's father.
