Chapter One

“Who killed Chief John?” detective Sam asked.

Herbert Halloway smiled.

“I don’t know,” he responded.

Herbert Halloway was one of those suspected to have executed the operation which took the life of Chief John. Chief John was a political councillor who was vying for the position of the Chairman of Mushin Local Government and he was the favourite. It had been rumoured that Herbert Halloway was sent by one of the opponent party of Chief John but the police had invited them by for interrogation which hadn’t amount to anything.

One of the sergeants entered the interrogation room and began to mumble with the detective. After a few minutes of talk, Herbert Halloway was led out of the police station and they had a brief talk with him before he went to the motor park and drove out with his men who had been waiting for him.

Herbert Halloway returned to his base in Mushin and headed to the conference room. The conference was an emergency one and his disciples began to phone his cabinet. Herbert Halloway was one of the most feared drug lords in Nigeria who had been on the traces of the government years back but evidence hadn’t been established and the police were working on it tirelessly.

A few minutes later, a sundry of cars began to enter the base. It was his cabinet whom the umpromptu call was placed to. The total numbers of Herbert Halloway’s cabinet was forty and only a few number of them lived outside Lagos. Herbert Halloway was seated on his high chair and when he was signaled that those available were present, the door was closed.

“Good day, the cabinet,” Herbert Halloway said in a thunderous tone.

“Good day, Lord!!!” They Chorused.

“The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency are planning to intercept some drug proceeding at the Lagos International airport. Hence, I ordered that all grams of cocaine, cannabis and other drug entering should be halted. Failure to adhere to it, you know the consequence. My message should be passed to those who aren’t present. They were pardon because it was an impromptu conference.”

Herbert Halloway had the habit of torturing any cabinet member who failed to attend a conference. Irrespective of the condition of the cabinet member, he was expected to be at the meeting, failure to do so, it did come with a serious consequence and some of the cabinet members had lost their lives in the process.

Other motions were moved at the conference and when it came to an end, all the present cabinet members evacuated the conference room. A few of them, requested for a special meeting with him which he turned down. He seemed not to be in the disposition.

Herbert Halloway was followed behind by five bouncers whose chest were dancing kukere. At the entrance, he was met with a bundle of cigarette and was conveyed to the resting room where more than five ladies had been prepared for him. Herbert Halloway had always been a favourite of ladies with big ass and breast, both fair and dark, he did do anything to have his way. A couple of ladies had been his victim as a result of their loyalty to their marriage and they lost their lives.

The ladies made a space for him in their midst on the huge sofa were they rested. That room had been Herbert Halloway’s favourite room if the prostututes were invited. One of ladies caught his attention and she didn’t seem that endowed as he had always wanted. He ordered one of the guards in the room to take her out.

He was smoking the cigarette and his personal assistant was beside him with his arm clasped together. He was invited by one of the bouncers and seemed Herbert Halloway had something to discuss with him. He was about to talk when one of his disciples, Shane walked in.

“Lord. He is here,” Shane said.

Herbert Halloway nodded and went on his toe with force. Shane led his way out of the room and led to the judgement hall. It was the hall where all execution did take place. It was one of the most secretive hall in the Herbert Halloway’s Castle.

One of his disciple had been discovered to the giving information to the police. Shane was one of the greatest brainy of Herbert Halloway. His name was Jacob Shola and was given the sobriquet, Shane by Herbert Halloway. He was sponsored through his university by him. Shane studied criminology at DePaul University Chicago. He graduated as one of the best student having all the resources in the world provided by Herbert Halloway. A contract was signed with Herbert Halloway after he was discovered and all his bills were footed.

He had been behind every investigation and when Herbert Halloway was invited by the police, he made it known to Shane who gave him all the information on how to communicate when he reached the police custody.

Although, Herbert Halloway could do everything himself and still go without having an evidence gotten against him. He was very perfect and had been working as a drug Lord for the past 30 years. His greatest brain was targeted and killed which led to the discovery of Shane.

Herbert Halloway walked into the hall with her eyes red like an alligator pepper. He was ferocious and never believed in second chance, none of his offender had ever been given that.

“Who are you?” Herbert Halloway asked.

“Boss. Please. Spare me…,” he kept echoing with his hands clasped.

Herbert Holloway smirked and it switched to stare immediately. He stretched his hand beside requesting for gun. One of the bouncers who was with his gun gave it to him. He cocked the gun.

“Segun. Good bye,” Herbert Halloway said and shot him within the twinkle of an eye.

Herbert Halloway wasn’t known for a second chance. None of those who had worked with him had ever had that. There were still couple of others who were on the run and still being pursued for their failure to deliver some drugs. And some abscond with billions of dollars. While all those discovered as an informant to an outsider had all been killed.

Segun knew the consequence of what he took upon but the pressure of being sent to prison coerced him into dancing to the tune of the police men.

Police had tried luring most of his disciple with money into disclosing all Herbert Halloway’s activities but they had been turning it down, those who had accepted it in the past were caught and killed immediately.

“Let’s go!” He said and led the way out of the judgement hall.

They walked behind him as he bounced out and he went back into the room where he was initially with the cocottes that were gotten for him.

His personal assistant was still standing at the position where he left him.

“We will talk later. I want to rest,”

He signaled the bouncers to evacuated the room and they all walked out.
