Chapter 4

The previous turn of events at Sophia’s home did not go well for William and Sophia both. This day, William had to do something about it. With the help of his wife-to-be, Sophia, he prepared himself to head out with only one mission in his thoughts. A mission to try saving their now at jeopardy marriage plans.

“I see that you are disturbed by what your people had to say yesterday, especially the marriage cancelation. I got everything under control. No need to worry my dear,” William assured.

“The truth is, I love you very much and wouldn’t want anything coming between us but…my family is not the best to go against. My grandfather tends to win always,” Sophia worried.

He walked closer to her, pulled her by the waste close to him and gave a kiss, “I am equally wealthy and powerful. I am warlord, I never take no for an answer, neither do I lose.”

“Very well then dear, may the spirits be with you.”

“By the way, this is the 21st century…what’s with you and the spirits? We are much past the era. Anyway, never mind…just joking”. She looked at him and chuckled at the joke.

As he had promised Sophia’s family, he was willing to live up to the promise. Just as he was about to walk out of the villa, they got a surprise visit. It was none other but his sister Kate. She had also flown back to their home town with a mission as well. Her reason for visiting William was to share her plan and seek for his assistance.

She as well was doing well. She was wealthy and had formed, The Wave, a group of professional, off the record hackers. Some of the hackers had come across a nasty plot as they were perambulating in the dark web. Such was the opportunity she needed to execute her plan and help her brother take revenge on their enemies as well.

Since time was not on William’s side that morning, he postponed their detailed talk for later and left the two ladies together. He was then escorted out of their villa by Sophia as she wished him more luck. Before he could enter his limo, Peter and Nicholas arrived as well. They had already done organizing the men as was ordered and needed the go ahead to leave for the Northern region.

At that moment, William took the advantage to ask about his airstrip plans from the two gentlemen.

“Before I release you, how far are we on our construction plans?”

“We are making good progress but…we may have a little problem. One of the land owners seems to have a change of mind,” Nicholas answered.

“What problem Nicholas? Problem is the last thing we need right now.”

“Just give us more time boss. We shall see to it that it’s done in time,” Peter requested.

“You have more things to do for me at the Northern region. I shall take care of this. The man has not met me yet. I need to see him in person. I may have something that might change his mind.”

He gave them further instructions for their stay at the Northern region and waved them off. He then entered one of his limos and left for JMK Corporation to get the Jefferson’s a contract and save his marriage.

On the Western side of Kibich city, next to the beautiful beaches of the Kibich Lake was yet some other very magnificent mansions and villas. The Western side was yet another home for the wealthy in Credonia. Ruth, William’s step-mother had relocated there after the incident that wiped out William’s family 9 years ago.

She had inherited most of the Jacobs’s family wealth and businesses afterwards and was living a posh lifestyle. During her normal rounds in the mining fields, which was one of the Jacob’s family business, one of her subordinates had news for her. It was on this day that she was notified of William’s arrival, another powerful warlord in Credonia.

That information bothered her intensely. Deep down, she had suspicions that it might be her step-son coming for payback. Since the explosion, she was notified of their survival but thought they died later after she searched for them without luck.

Her subordinate went forth to let her know that, a rumor about William being extremely wealthy and powerful was spreading around. This got her even more worried. Without waste of time, she cancelled her plans for the day. Her new plan was getting ready for William by investigating who he really was and finding ways by which she could deal with him first and fast.

William arrived at the JMK Corporation. He stepped out of his limo in the company of only one guard. They walked straight for the revolving door into the skyscraper. He had already booked an appointment to meet with Peterson, the Director and founder of the JMK Group of companies.

They were shown into the Head office elevator and up they went surrounded by JMK serious-looking security personnel. A short while later, he met with Peterson. JMK, being the largest corporation in Credonia, Peterson was one of the wealthiest people in the country. Be that as it may though, William’s former whereabouts and current wealth astounded him.

With much influence and affluence comes a lot of caution and paranoia. Peterson was definitely one among the club. The wealthy made sure to have every other big fish in check to avoid surprises, yet, Peterson was facing one at the moment. He never thought of meeting someone that wealthy and whom he did not know about.

He tried to inquire about it from him before they could talk business but, William never let the cat out of the bag. He was as paranoid as well, and above all, a military man. He never revealed his true identity as being one of the Jacobs. For his plan to work well, he needed to remain mysterious and a new fish and species in the pond.

With each minute that passed with both in one room made Peterson tenser. He was not contented with his story and the fact that he was very young and wealthy. Above all, the idea of doing business with a stranger was not in his books. Without hesitation, he declined the offer.

Though Peterson was a friend of the Jacobs back then, William had changed so much for anyone to recognize him.

Back at Sophia’s home, Jefferson requested his son James for a meeting. Their previous night’s discussion about saving the business had bothered him all night long. It was time for them to put it behind them. As James had requested, Jefferson finally gave in. He gave James the go-ahead to look for the right buyer for Sophia.

As they wished, Jefferson made it clear that, he was to be the evilest of all playboys and from the wealthiest families. They also made sure that the deal remained only between the two of them.

“I am glad you finally gave me the go-ahead to look for our financier, but…the young man, William, promised that he is to secure us a contract with JMK. What about that, father?” James inquired.

“Well…good question James. We both know that our business needs a boost, right. What I mean is, if he is successful in getting the contract, we take it,” Jefferson answered.

“What about the girl?”

“What do you think? Of course we sell her. She is of much use to us that way.”

At JMK Corporation headquarters, Peterson stood to his choice of denying William a contract. Before getting into bed with the stranger as he called him, he first needed to know him better and keep a close watch on him. After the heartbreaking meeting, William then left the corporation for his house. He could no longer travel to the Jeffersons.

On his way, a memory of their discussion with Nicholas and Peter came in mind. He decided to handle the issue of the land for building his airstrip as well. He first diverted to go see the land owner and whom, he was told of having a change of mind.
