Chapter 9

Shortly after they arrived, Ayla dropped Michael at No. 1 Villa, and they exchanged numbers before leaving.

“This place is a luxury Villa, I'm glad you have someone here, so it would be comfortable for you. The place is always quiet, you don't need to worry of any disturbance but if there is,” she assured, “don't forget to give me a call, I will be here in seconds.”

Michael flashed her his best smile, “You are too nice.”

“Always have been,” her subconscious nibbled at her,

‘are you doing this because you like him?' no this is something she can even do for anyone, she didn't even do much, she assured herself. But it was better, she was doing it for Michael.

“And yes, before I forget. We are having a classmate party tomorrow, I want to ask if you can come with me tomorrow to the party?” she hoped he wouldn't reject.

Michael's smile faded for a second and he had a quick seconds of thought and an

examination before giving her an answer. Going out will be fun, and it can help lessen the burden in his heart, it's nothing much anyway.

So, he agreed, “yeah, sounds cool.”

“Great,”

“I will pick you up tomorrow, okay?”

“Alright.”

They separated as Ayla drove to her own way and Michael remained rooted to the spot. Now that she is gone, the heartache that he thought had disappeared came in again, he clenched his fist tight as he stood there. Ayla's moment of sympathy was just a temporary thing and now it was just like nothing was done or said in the first place.

He stood there for like ten minutes before the assistant finally arrived with the key.

He took the key and entered the villa, he didn't wait for any chit chat after he met the curious and worried eyes of his assistant, he just needed to rest and have a place where he won't see anyone, at least for a few hours.

When he got to the room he was offered, he shut the door close and tight. He threw the key to the glass table and started taking off his clothes, he took off everything and found the way to the bathroom. Once he was in and standing In front of a full-length mirror, his heart almost jumped from its crib.

The man he is seeing has to be the worst version of himself, not even abandoned, but not in a human form.

Starting from his hair that looks like a mess and tangled like it's been ages since he weaved through it or ran a comb on it. Then his face that now looks leaner than he remembered, his eyes has dark circles all around indicating the times he didn't sleep which he is very certain that it's more than the time he slept.

His collarbone is almost sticking out from his skin, showing to the whole world to see how frustrated he looks. He continued looking at his reflection in the mirror before he was comfortable that whatever that was broken can still be fixed.

He ran himself a warm bath, and used the soap he found in the bathroom to wash himself well. He had a very long bath, taking his time to wash out all the dirt, from the prison to the fucking wedding. The bath with the soap he knows nothing about was not giving, so he made a mental note to take another bath when he has gotten the things he needs.

When he was done, he dried himself and slipped in the bathrobe he saw there. Everything was new because it all came packaged like a new product. He feels more better compared to minutes ago, he strode to the living room and that was when he realized that he failed to admire the beauty of the place he is to sleep in. It is enormous and speaks of money, there is a glass from top to floor at the side. He inched closer and touched the glass, he could see a large clean swimming pool sitting in the middle and the flowers and plants surrounding the villa, it was damn good.

He went to the cellar and poured himself a glass of red wine, he also noticed the fire furnace that beside, everything was luxury.

He gulped the wine and went to the bedroom to rest. He also noticed that the bedroom has the ceiling to floor glass which allowed him to see the outside clearly and the outsiders could see through, though nobody was passing or lurking around, so he used the remote control and tapped a button for the glass to turn thick and wasn't transparent anymore.

Michael used to live a luxury lifestyle too, so he knows how all these works.

He didn't have any clothes with him to change to, but he decided to check the drawer, and fortunately, he found something in there, and changed to a pair of clean t-shirt and black trouser he could use to sleep.

Once his head hit the pillow, he reflected back on the days of jail, when he met the army officer. At first, he was surprised and wondered what he saw in him that he couldn't see in other prisoners, he taught him all kinds of skills, thankfully most of the things he knows today, the army officer taught him. He gave him the ring to clarify his identity and a number to contact his assistant.

It happened to be that the man used to own a super organization, which contains over twenty super groups and the biggest mafia. The officer had a battle with another organization and lost the control to some groups, they could only control several powers which affected them. Michael has a task, to rebuild the organization, bring back its stance and

Not so soon, he fell asleep.

The next day, nothing much happened, he just rested and when he woke he was starving. Food was sent to his room. He ate and laid on the couch.

When he felt it was time, he found something good in the wardrobe and prepared for the party. Ayla called him to meet outside when she arrived.

He saw her in her car, though he couldn't see her full clothing but just the little he saw, he confirmed how beautiful she looked in them. Her make-up blended with her tan skin, just so natural.

“Hey, how was it? Did you have a goodnight rest? And I hope their food was good, and also you didn't call,” Ayala started with the questions when he got into the passenger's side.

Michael couldn't help but smile, “Thanks very much for your concern, Mrs. Ayla, but I am fine” Michael teased.

Ayla squeezed her face, “Hey, I am not married!” she yelled, making Michael's smile widen more.

“Oops I am sorry,” Michael knew she wasn't married but just wanted to see her reaction.

Ayla rolled her eyes and sighed, “We are going to a sports club first to meet others,”

“Alright”

The drive was short and pleasing, when they arrived, Ayla went to buy a drink for them even after Michael's rejection she insisted on getting them a refreshment. So, Michael allowed her.

Michael stood beside a bar with lesser people, waiting for her. Just then, he heard a familiar voice, so familiar that he can make it out even when thousands are talking at the same time.

“My wedding was ruined, y'all know how I badly loved and wanted to get an exquisite wedding, only for the loser to show up and destroy it!” Kathie was gisting with her friends.

But she didn't know that Michael was there too, he turned and caught her sitting at the side, when Kathie moved her head to sip from her cocktail, her eyes met Michael's, and she froze instantly.

The cocktail almost slipped from her hand if not that she was holding on to it tight, but she forgot how to breathe as the air suddenly felt tight and suffocating.

Michael clenched his fist as he continued casting a murderous gaze on her.
