THE HISTORY BEHIND THE DIAMOND

While they were in Reece's healthcare room,Dr.Manuel narrated the true history behind the black diamond such that they would know it's power and beware of what would happen if it fell into the wrong hands.

He said that, a very long time ago, before colonization The kings of the various states were troubled by the injustice they suffered at the hands of their old rulers they fled from and for this matter they resulted in wars against each other thinking the other tribes were enemies which led to the death of many people.

They all came together and decided to consult the greatest fetish priest of the land which was Boakye Addo. When they put their request before him, he asked them to give him time to consult the gods go give them an answer.

After three days of consultation,he came out with an answer in the form of the black diamond. He told the kings that the purest of hearts was the king who would be selected to bear its power, on the night of the blood moon the kings surrounded the diamond as the chief priest made some incantations and rituals which allowed the diamond to suspend in the air and chose King Nana Nkrumah the king of the Ashanti Kingdom because he was brave, young and above all pure of heart.

He was then taken to the home of the chief priest to be educated on the power of the diamond to make him aware of its dark side if it falls into the wrong hands. He was told that the diamond was formed by identifying all the duties of a king and  how the diamond could improve those qualities.

He told him that as a king , every individual of his kingdom was his responsibility and for that matter he would be given knowledge on how to rule them and also make good decisions also he would be given strength to be able to conquer all enemies that would rise against him. He would also be given the speed of lightening to be able to be of aid to people who cried out for help as he would be given an advanced hearing ability and vision on where help was needed and of the future. He would also be gifted with the power of knowing past events and happenings of cases brought before him to pass on good judgments. But he was to note that he couldn't save everyone at the same time and most importantly he was not to have any affair with any woman or else he would loose the power.

If he wished to be relieved of the power he would have to select a loved one to die and the sorrow deep within his heart would cause the Diamond to fall out of his chest which was the curse of the diamond because he would be of no interest to women.

He ruled the land for many years and at a point in time other kings rose against him. There were many attempts to steal the diamond but he saw them before they even planned and was always aware. He was highly praised by his people but very unlucky when it came to women.

He came across a fine lady he had wanted to start a family with because, day in day out, he saw many families living happily and wanted to have one of his own but the diamond restricted him from doing that.

He was always troubled by this and his mother noticed this and couldn't bear to see her son in that state. She told him that he should choose her as a sacrifice to relieve him of the diamond in order for him to have a family and be happy.

She found it difficult to convince him to do it but after many tries he agreed. She placed her hands on the diamond on his chest as he confirmed that she was the one he chooses to sacrifice. She died at that instance after he had said that and the sorrow within him brought out the diamond and he was finally free.

He lived a normal life and had his family. He hid the diamond in the ground to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. But never disclosed that he had lost its power. He had many children ,grew old and died. The locals were made to believe that he was buried with the diamond. The other kings dug out his grave to retrieve it but the only person who also knew it's where about was the chief priest who never disclosed it.

With time the Great King faded from the memory of the people but the chief priest did not forget. The British came and colonized the people and with his dying breath he charmed one of them to write down all he witnessed and gave it to his son for safe keeping.

"That note was how I found the diamond " said Dr.Manuel.
