Chapter 7: First step of vengeance

“Prepare for departure,” he ordered.

Finn took a bow and upstairs. Adonis would be needing a change of clothes and a face mask, Finn knew this already.

While waiting for Finn, Adonis couldn’t stop thinking about his family. He barely remembers what they looked like because they died a long time ago.

The only person he clearly remembers was the man that nurtured him after his family's death but David killed him too. David killed everyone that he loved and he was going to do the same. He was going to let him shed the tears that Adonis had always shed before he became a general.

Becoming a general was the only way he was certain that he was prepared to avenge his family’s death. And he worked his ass out to get to the position that he was in at that moment.

He and Finn took a taxi to the Crowne Plaza hotel and Resorts. When they got to the hotel, Kevin was already around.

Finn glanced at his watch. “James will be here soon. We have just thirty minutes to do what we want and get out,” he informed.

Adonis nodded briefly and turned to look at Finn. “Wait here for me.”

Finn nodded while he entered through the back door and changed into black trousers and a black shirt. Then, he put on a black mask before he made his way to Kevin’s room.

He knocked slightly.

There was a slight hesitation. “Yes, who is there?”

“Hotel services,” Adonis lied.

There were a few minutes of silence and then, the door opened slowly. He was expecting the attendant anyways. He had ordered some meals in preparation for the meeting.

But looking at Adonis’s attire, Kevin was sure that it wasn’t the attendant. “Who are you?” He demanded, unwilling to open the door wider for Adonis to pass through.

Adonis didn’t answer and instead kicked him. Kevin was sent reeling backward while Adonis used the opportunity to enter and lock the door.

It was at this time that Kevin realised something was really wrong. "Hey! What are you doing? Why did you lock the door?" He yelled in anger and moved to grab the telephone.

Adonis rushed forward and grabbed him by the hand. He twisted it so fast that it broke and Kevin let out a cry.

Adonis pushed him to the floor and Kevin struggled to balance up. His head was reeling and the pain was getting too much for him.

Adonis pulled a chair closer to sit on. He threw the head tie at him. It fell over in front of Kevin.

"Does this belong to the Laurier ?"

Kevin dragged his breath and stared down at the head tie. His eyes went wide as an unknown expression flickered across his face. It wasn't just an ordinary head tie, there was a design on it.

The scorpion design on the head tie showed that it belonged to the Laurier. The Lauriers own a company of steel and the design was their logo.

"It's your right?" Adonis faked a smile. "You were the one that sent those men to kill Gary and the Kye's family? You and your family will pay the price. One after the other!" He swore.

" Please, don't kill me. I_i don't know about this," he beseeched softly while trying to pull at the gun behind him.

Kevin was acting smart without knowing that Adonis could see through him.

Adonis saw this and pulled out his gun. He shot his arm as he took out the gun. The gun dropped from Kevin’s hand as pain entered him, a wall of it.

Kevin struggled to breathe, coupled with the pain circulating around him.

Adonis ignored him. " Do you recognize me? Do you?"

Kevin shook his head quickly. " No, I don't. Please, let me live. I have no idea what you are talking about."

His reply made Adonis's blood boil with rage. He pointed the gun at him, then slowly moved to his left leg. "I'm going to ask this for the last time. Do you remember Adonis Kye?"

Kevin went rigid for a moment. " Adonis Kye?" His voice shook with tremors. Then, the realisation hit him. "You were alive?"

Adonis smiled, glad he was right. The Lauriers killed his family and foster father. And they had the audacity to live after that.

Adonis crouched beside him and watched him wince in pain for a moment. "What did you take from my family that night?" Adonis demanded in a thick and scary voice.

Kevin was sweating now and energy was slowly sweeping out of him. He was bleeding so hard now.

"I don't know," he struggled out the word.

" Did you just lie? It looks like you don't care for your life!" He snapped. “I will ask again. What did you collect from Gary that night you killed him?”

Kevin shook his head quickly, in severe pain. "I don't know, I swear. Only my father does. Please, let me go, he hesitated for a moment. “And my sister. My sister knows everything that happened. You should ask her and not me. You’ve come to the wrong place," he sobbed.

Adonis gathered his forehead. “Your sister? Which one?”

Kevin swallowed harder. “Maggie. She’s the eldest and she’s closer to our father,” he explained as he winced again.

Adonis stood. “Then, you have no use for me.”

“Yes, I know which is why I want you to leave me. Please, let me go,” he sucked in a breath. “See, I will give you money. I will give you any amount that you want. Please, just let me go.”

Adonis regarded him for a moment. “ Your father killed my family and you dare beg me for your life?”

“I don’t know anything about it, I swear!” He yelled with despair. “Please, let me go,” he begged softly.

“No, I'm going to send your father a clear message," he hit him slightly by the neck and Kevin started to struggle for air.

“Serve you right. This will be how you will all die!” Adonis swore at him.
