Chapter 3

“No, mom. I’m Rosalie.”

The door went opened, and Dinah removed her eyes glasses.

“Rosalie Jones,” Dallas added.

“Where’s your scars?” Dinah raised her eyebrows.

Rosalie explained how she recovered her beauties as Dinah allowed them in. Dinah was so sorry for abandoning Rosalie.

Dinah rushed to upstairs, leaving them in the dinning room. She entered her son’s room first and met him playing a football game.

“Jake, come and see Rosalie and his husband,” Dinah said swiftly.

Jake focused on the game, saying, “I’ve seen their ugly pictures online yesterday. It won’t be funny anymore.”

Dinah slapped his shoulder. “How dare you talk that shit to your sister?”

Jake was surprised. When did his mother like Rosalie? Maybe she made a mistake.

“I don’t lie. The funny pictures are on my phone. She entered a taxicab with her face covered. Her poor husband would have thought he married a ghoul,” Jake said, making his face as ugly as Rosalie’s face, and then burst into serious laughter.

Dinah slammed a comb on his head.

Rubbing his head, Jake screamed, “you are hurting me.”

“You know what hurts? Rosalie is pretty than your girlfriend. Check her in the dining room.”

Dinah slammed the door closed behind her, and went straight to her husband.

Michael, who was shaving before a mirror, said, “what’s the matter between you and that bastard?”

Dinah feels like slamming something on her husband head, but she controls herself as she always does.

“Your daughter brings her husband home,” Dinah said and stormed out of the room.

Michael was happy because he thought Susan had brought her husband at last. Susan was his second daughter, but she was a boyish. Michael had been disturbing Susan to get herself a boyfriend. But instead of Susan to obey, she would wear a cap, and go out for a week to play betting games. Susan was just like her brother, Jake, except that she was a girl.

Michael was just the happiest man today. He dropped the shaving stick and darted downstairs. Who he met in the dining room isn’t who he expected or even recognized.

Rosalie and Dallas greeted Michael, but only Rosalie raised her head.

Dinah walked in with food. “Honey, Rosalie is pretty, isn’t she?”

“Is that Rosalie?” Michael asked in shock.

Jake, who just walked in, was astonished, too. Rosalie hugged them and told them how she has missed her family. She also explained how Diamond Hospital in Russia helped her.

“Rosalie's worth having a better husband now,” Dinah said. “What do you think, honey?”

“You are right,” Michael said.

“No,” Rosalie shouted. “When everyone abandons me, Dallas didn’t.”

“And so what?” Dinah said, putting back her eyes glasses.

“Mom, I can’t just leave him.”

Michael looked at Dallas and said, “gentleman, can you please leave this house?”

Dallas stuttered and grabbed Rosalie’s hand. “Yes, sir.”

Michael slapped Dallas’s face. “Leave my daughter alone and get out of my house before I get you arrested.”

“I’m sorry, sir,” Dallas said, and hurried out.

Dinah pulled Rosalie to the back as Jake locked the door and throw the key to Michael.

“This is unfair, mom,” Rosalie cried. “I shouldn’t have come.”

A phone was ringing in the sitting room. It was Old Mrs. Jones calling. Michael swiftly picked the phone.

“Mic, are you watching the news am watching right now?” Old Mrs. Jones asked.

“No, what’s it all about?” Michael asked.

“Diamond Hospital treated Rosalie’s skin for free.”

“It’s true. Rosalie is in my house.”

“Oh, dear. Let’s do a video call. I want to see her face,” Old Mrs. Jones said. There’s eagerness in her voice.

“Alright. A minute,” Michael said.

“No, I give you five seconds.”

Michael hung the phone, and hurried to the dining room, accepting the video call from the grandma.

Old Mrs. Jones saw how the pretty Rosalie was weeping beside her parents and Jake. Grandma was happy for Rosalie, she never thought Rosalie could be beautiful after many hospitals rejected her.

When Old Mrs. Jones realised Rosalie wasn’t shedding tears of joy, she asked what’s wrong with her.

Rosalie explained what happened, and vow never to marry any man except Dallas.

“It’s for your own good,” Grandma said to Rosalie. “You are worth marrying a billionaire with your beauties.”

“No, granny. I’ve already fallen in love with Dallas.”

“Well, I will advise you to stand up from the love, and forget about loving that poor man. What else can he offer you except a poor life?”

“He always makes me happy.”

“If you won’t stop arguing with me, I will send men to kill your so called Dallas,” Old Mrs. Jones said, with a determined voice.

Rosalie knows what grandma can do. She doesn’t want Dallas to die because of her. She then surrender, and wept more.

“I will be asked journalist to send your beautiful pictures around. You might charm one of CEO Blake’s sons,” Old Mrs. Jones said and hang up.

The grandma wants to use Rosalie as an opportunity to connect her company to Venus company. The richest and the most popular company in New York is the Venus company owned by CEO Blake. All companies were struggling to connect with it for a great benefits.

If Rosalie charm one of the CEO Blake’s sons, Old Mrs. Jones will just connect with Venus company easily.

Not long, many journalists walked into Michael’s compound, and Michael asked them to kindly wait for Rosalie to come out.

Dinah forced Rosalie to wear expensive clothes in a room and then forced her out.

The journalist was stunned by how much Rosalie had changed from ugly to prettiest. They quickly snap her pictures with Dinah grinning beside her.

People who watch the news and the Rosalie’s new pictures online were amazed. Some people said it’s a fake Rosalie. Some people said Rosalie is pretty without make-up.

Later that evening, Dallas laid on the bed, thinking of what to do. His bed smelt like Rosalie, charming his eyes, and eroding him into deep sleep, where he dreams of Rosalie.

Rosalie was the first thought that came to his mind in the morning. And to escape from his unacceptable reality, he switched on the television, watching the news.

Several newscasters on many channels tell a lot of information about Rosalie, who had become the centre of attention in New York. Billionaires’ men were interested in marrying her. Two sons of CEO Blake had visited Jones’s family because of the prettiest Rosalie.

Dallas hated the Reporter for reporting the news, and somehow, he hates himself for listening.
