Chapter 7

The old Mrs. Jones hugged Rosalie, and shed tears of joy on her shoulder. She didn't believe that the mere Rosalie can get the contract worth billions of dollars.

"My husband will be happy in heaven, thank you so much Rosalie," Granny said, cleaning her tears under her eyes glasses.

"CEO Blake vowed never to break the connection between his company and Jones's company," Dallas said.

Granny looked at Rosalie, and asked, "is it true?"

Rosalie nodded with a bright smile.

"Because you make me glad today, I will not break my promise I made to you. There will be a splendid party tomorrow night, where I will make you the manager of my company," granny said.

Everyone in the meeting was happy except for Aunty Xenia, Uncle Mason, and Dorcas Trey.

"Don't forget you also promise to let me follow Dallas home," Rosalie said.

The old Mrs. Jones looks at Dallas with disgust. "Why do you still want to be with this poor man?"

Sadness appears on Rosalie's face.

"Since I won't punish him anymore, he can go back home peacefully," granny said. "Michael, what do you think about them?"

Michael, who could never speak in the meeting, smile and clear his throat, saying, "whatever you want to do about them is right."

"I don't like that answer. She's your daughter. Should I accept your daughter to follow a poor man home or not?" granny asked Michael.

"No," Michael said, "letting her marry him will make people look down on our family."

Rosalie wept. "Dad, please don't do this."

"It's for your own good. How would you cope with a poor husband when you were the manager of a billionaire company?" Michael asked.

"It's alright," granny said, "I will let her continue marry him for some time. I believe Rosalie will soon see the truth of what we're telling her."

The old Mrs. Jones accepted Rosalie to follow Dallas home for some time, and informed everyone not to come late to the party because she will invite many rich men including Ceo Blake, too.

Dorcas Trey, Uncle Mason, and Aunty Xenia left with full of anger. They don't want Michael to be greater than them, not to talk of Rosalie becoming the manager.

"I must destroy granny's plan. Rosalie can't be the manager," Uncle Mason said in the car as he was driving his wife and daughter home.

"Take it easy, dad," Linda said. "Just leave the matter to me. I will make Rosalie bow to me."

"Someone might have helped Rosalie in getting the contract. It's not by her knowledge. It will be good if we find out who helps her," Esther, the wife of Uncle Mason, said.

"It's true dear. It might be one of Ceo Blake's sons," Uncle Mason said. "I must contact them tomorrow."

In a limousine, Aunty Xenia and Doctor Trey were planning on how to poison the old Mrs. Jones, so that the wealth of the Jones's family would be theirs. And so that they can delete Michael and his family from getting any share of Jones' properties.

"What's the granny's favorite fruit?" Doctor Trey asked.

"She loves eating apples," Aunty Xenia said. "But she can only eat the one in the garden."

"Don't worry. Leave every task to me. She will soon join her husband in heaven."

They laughed. Eight years ago, they poisoned the late old Mr. Jones to get access to one of his debit cards. If they kill the old Mrs. Jones, they will own the whole Jones' properties, with the contract which worth billions of dollars from the Venus company.

A taxicab was taking Dallas and Rosalie to number four, Buffalo, NY.

In a quiet street, three cars overtake the taxicab, making the driver to slam on the brake. Many gangsters rushed out of the cars, coming to the taxicab with batons on their hands.

"Oh my God, who are these?" Rosalie screamed like a scared kid before a snake.

Two cars stopped behind the taxicab, and seven gangsters came out. Then the driver of the taxicab stepped out and walked to Scorpion, the boss of the gangster.

"You did a great job," Scorpion said, giving the taxicab driver lots of money.

Dallas raised his eyebrows as he saw the driver running away with a smirk on his face.

"A trap? Oh my God! He trap us!!!" Rosalie cried, not knowing what to do. She thought Granny sent the gangsters to beat them. She hurries out of the car.

"Hey, grandma had promised not to punish my husband," Rosalie shouted with an uneasy voice.

Dallas remains quiet in the car. He doesn't want Rosalie to know that he can fight and can kill all the gangsters in a minute. He doesn't want them to hurt Rosalie, too.

Scorpion walked past Rosalie, heading to Dallas with a devilish look. At that moment, Dallas was peaceful because Scorpion didn't touch Rosalie.

"How dare you disgrace my god in the public?" Scorpion asked.

Dallas quickly realized that Gerald Blake sent them, not the old Mrs. Jones. He then allowed Scorpion to pull him out and beat him with baton like an animal.

Rosalie was screaming and crying as Dallas spat blood out. She was trying to free herself from the gangsters who holds her hands from going near Dallas. "Leave me alone. Stop beating him. Please..."

Scorpion slammed the baton on Dallas's head, making Dallas to pretend like he had dead. Seeing this, Scorpion remembered that Gerald Blake only asked him to teach Dallas a lesson, not to kill him.

After a minute, the gangsters drove their cars away, leaving Rosalie crying on Dallas.

When Dallas see they had all gone, he coughed. His cough makes Rosalie stop crying for a moment.

"Take me home," Dallas said

"Oh!! We should go to the hospital now," Rosalie said

"I don't have enough money to pay doctor. It will make the matter worse. I will be fine at home."

Rosalie accepted, and quickly helped him into the taxicab, and drove him home.

When Dallas was watching the news the next day, he saw the driver who knows his real identity talking with reporters.

The driver told the reporters and the detective Jack Drummond that he recognized and can remember the killer's face clearly.

Detective Jack urges the driver to follow him to the street to find the killer. Even the government vowed to reward the driver if he help Detective Jack to get the killer.

Dallas realized his mistakes. He should have killed the driver, or at least wore his mask. He realized it's dangerous to go to the street, and it's also dangerous for the driver to be alive. His next target was to killed the driver without getting caught.

He then opened his bag, and brought out a black mask.

"It must always be with me," he said to himself, hurrying to the kitchen before Rosalie finished bathing.

"Honey," Rosalie called from the bathroom. "Don't forget, tonight is our party."

He replied her from the kitchen, for the kitchen was near the bathroom. "Can't forget because my baby will soon become a skilled manager."

"I can't just wait to see it happen for real."
