Chapter 5

The day after Louis assumed control over T.D Group in the province, Fidelia Neil was left in shock as T.D Corporation made the decision to terminate its partnership with Frank's store.

"This can't be happening. T.D Group would be violating our contractual agreement." Fidelia exclaimed, feeling a tightening in her chest. Her grandson, Edward, had to assist her to sit on the sofa due to her heart condition.

Earlier that year, T.D Group had acquired an empty piece of land near the province, therefore leading to a cooperation between the two sides.

"Grandma, it's true. They sent this document to us. It has the signature of the general manager, and the compensation is worth 10 million dollars. The payment will be made next month," Edward explained as he handed over the document to Fidelia.

Fidelia examined the document intently for a while before staring blankly at the sofa.

"10 million dollars to terminate the contract? We are definitely going to suffer more losses than that," she said, feeling a sense of hopelessness.

Fidelia was in disbelief that T.D Group had suddenly terminated their partnership and compensated them for the breach of contract.

Meanwhile, Edward remained unaware of the severity of the situation, as he had been spending all his time with his girlfriend lately, putting a strain on his attention.

Present at Frank's house were shareholders and senior managers, but they remained silent as Fidelia addressed them angrily.

"If we cannot cooperate with T.D Group, each person's assets here will be reduced by half," Fidelia warned.

"Does anyone have any ideas or plans?" she asked, only to be met with incompetence and silence from the others.

Maddy noticed the lack of action and shot an angry look towards Fidelia before standing up and proposing a solution.

"Grandma, I've been tasked with decorating a new supermarket and happen to have the contact information for a senior manager at T.D. Corporation. I'll reach out and ask why they terminated our contract. Maybe there's still hope for cooperation between us," she declared.

Having finished speaking, Maddy sat back down, ignoring Edward's presence.

Fidelia had assigned her grandson Edward to work with T.D Corporation. However, Edward was so lazy that left Maddy to handle everything.

Now, as a director, Edward was ignorant of the situation. But he still refused to allow her to tarnish his reputation within the family's department store.

"We've tried contacting them, but they haven't answered. There's not much else we can do," Edward declared. That was the final straw for Maddy. "You people are useless! I work hard and handle all the heavy work in the company, but what do I get in return? I'm just an employee while everyone else sits on the sofa and enjoys life!" she exclaimed. The family responded with laughter and insults. "Oh, Maddy, you and your husband are such a pathetic pair of imbeciles." they retorted. Fidelia became uneasy at the tension in the room. She knew that Maddy had a point, but she also disapproved of her outburst against the family.

"Maddy, don't be so emotional. You need to learn how to speak respectfully to the family," Fidelia intervened with a hint of arrogance. "But since you seem to crave recognition, I'll offer you a challenge. If you successfully handle the cooperation, I'll put you in charge and give you a measly 10% of the profit. But if you fail, you won't even be considered for a spot on the board of the Frank family," Fidelia said with a smirk, implying that Maddy wasn't worthy of such a position.

Edward's face lit up with a smile. The thought of Maddy failing and being kicked off the board brought him satisfaction. He didn't think Maddy could get T.D Corporation to work with them.

Maddy felt a wave of regret wash over her, but knew she had no other option. 10% of the profit is a lot of money.

She tried to talk to T.D Corporation, but no one wanted to listen to her once they heard she was from the Frank family. Even though it seemed like she might not succeed, Maddy was determined to keep trying.

It was late, and Maddy was preparing to go home for the night.

Suddenly, a bright yellow BMW AG appeared on the road, its lights shining directly towards her.

Maddy was trapped and couldn't escape the car's path. She had resigned herself to being hit when she heard someone shout "Be careful!"

At that moment, a familiar person ran up and tightly hugged her, causing them both to tumble onto the ground. Luckily, they narrowly avoided being hit by the car.

Once they regained their composure, Maddy realized that it was her husband Louis who had saved her from the accident.

"Why are you here?" Maddy asked, surprised to see Louis. She felt that he was different from the man she had lived with for the past three years, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why.

Before she could ask him, a woman stepped out of the BMW AG and started shouting at them. She scolded them for standing in the street late at night and risking their lives.

Louis glared at the woman, suspecting that she was probably someone's mistress or girlfriend.

"Shut up! Apologize to my wife," Louis said, embracing Maddy protectively and giving the woman a cold glare.

Maddy had been having a tough day, with the Frank family causing her trouble and nearly being hit by a car. But having Louis suddenly show up and save her made her feel happy.

The woman spotted the crowd gathering and hastily pulled out some money from her purse. "Here, take this and go away," she said as she threw the bills at Louis.

Louis picked up the money and flung it back in her face. "I don't want your money. You owe my wife an apology," he retorted sternly.

The woman's eyes widened with anger. "How dare you? Do you know who I am? Nobody in this province dares to mess with me!" she threatened, raising her hand to hit Louis.

But Louis was quick to react, slapping her hard across the face. Maddy gasped in shock, stunned by Louis' sudden actions.

Louis stared the woman down and said, "I don't care who you or your boyfriend are. You owe my wife an apology and I expect you to give it to her."

The woman sneered at Louis and responded arrogantly, "You're playing with fire. My boyfriend is Anselm Marc, the richest man in G.T province and son of the chairman of B.M. You don't want to mess with him."

Maddy was frightened at the mention of Marc's name and urged Louis to leave. "Let's just go," she pleaded, worried about any potential retaliation from Marc's powerful family.

But Louis stood his ground and reassured Maddy, "Don't worry, I've got this."

B.M wouldn't dare to mess with T.D Corporation just because of someone's lover.
