Place to Die

I don't know how far I've been walking. These legs are dying as if when I stopped it will stop forever. My sight is clouded as well. Sometimes it feels like droplets of water have been touching my body. Is it raining today?

I don't know.

Walking, walking, walking, walking. That word keeps ringing out inside my head. Did I even have a head, to begin with?

I don't know either. Did I?

I began hallucinating, and my past memories have been flashed inside my head. I remember, there's a book or even some old man rumbling about their comrade that talking about their life flashed before their death. I don't know who it is but even if I tried to remember, it's just a vain attempt. So, is this what they called the dying reminisce?

Even though it's an unpleasant memory, it still popped up out of nowhere. A certain memory that I hold dear but at the same time my misery.

"Have you eaten yet?"

Those are? My parent's voice?

'How bold of you to ask that to me in this situation, even though you're just my past.'

'Of course, the answer is no.'

"Is that so?"

"Then here, mom bought a snack for you. You can eat this while waiting....."

Haha,.....

"Be strong boy, you must endure this. We've got your back....."

What is that voice?

Ah, it seems I'm recalling when my parents died in an accident. Cruel indeed, they neglected their son in those worlds alone. Relative? Pfft, they're just talking nonsense. In the beginning, the word of relatives does not have that much weight in my life. They're just a bunch of people who share one of my bloodlines from either my parents, it's nothing special, to begin with.

My legs staggered, losing their power, and stumbled. Nothing more than the sound of splashing water can be heard.

'Ah, it seems my legs have given up. It's shaking so hard and I can't feel it anymore.'

A sound of water splashing reached my ears. With my remaining energy, I pushed my body and faced the sky. The sky was gloomy, pouring its misery onto the world.

"Rainy...."

With my dried throat, I unconsciously said that.

'My eyes slowly began to close. It's heavy and I'm sleepy, maybe it's time for me to be asleep now. It's okay to sleep now, right? I've been walking and I want my rewards now.'

When I want to sleep peacefully, a young girl seems to walk over here and take a look at my face.

'Stop it, it's embarrassing to sleep when someone watched me....'

But, rather than watching. That girl tried talking to me. To a person nearing the end of his life.

"Are you alive?"

Her voice is so soft, it feels like a lullaby and I began losing consciousness.
