CHAPTER 8: WHAT...? ANOTHER SYSTEM

“Why are you different?” Maximus asked rhetorically. While he raked his fingers through his smooth silver hair, which got dyed in blood.

Joon looked up to see the emperor looming over him like a mountain. What does the emperor’s question mean? Why did he think he was different? Was it because of the smile that escaped her? He only laughed because the face of a decapitated woman in pleasure was the funniest thing he had ever seen.

Maximus carried Joon off the floor and placed him beside the crystal ball. As soon as Joon got beside the crystal. A bright blue light shot out of the crystal, and flew towards Liliana’s body, swallowing it before it returned. “Wow.” Joon was shell-shocked by the magical phenomenon that had just occurred. Even though he knew this was a magical world, it was his first time seeing magic.

[Conditions are met]

[Scanning for magical capacity]

Looking up, Joon could see a red-colored game status window projecting out of the crystal. “What the hell is going on”. he could not believe his eyes, in every novel he read, the main character is the only one who has a system. which was common sense for any isekai, but he just saw another system come out of the crystal ball.

If the system is common in this world, then am not the main character, then am just like everybody else. Joon thought. Joon was disappointed that his plan to dominate the world with his cheat system got thrown out the window.

“Hey, don’t compare me to those knock-offs.”

The arrogant feminine voice shocked Joon. He looked left and right to see where the voice was, but he couldn’t see anything but the emperor, who was immersed in the projection. “Who said that?” he asked in his mind because he wasn’t able to talk yet as a baby.

“Hey, up here stupid.” the voice replied in a haughty tone. Joon looked towards the ceiling and saw a fairy-looking person flying above his head. She had naturally brown hair and eyes that were as green as the forest. And her beauty, if he was to describe it, she was like a goddess. “Wow!”

“Are you a fairy?” Joon asked.

“Wrong! Listen well, my servant. I am Ella, the one and only system fairy. It’s your honor to be my host. Bow and worship me, human.”

Joon’s impression of fairies started crumbling into dust. From stories he read, fairies are lovely magical beings that spread love and happiness occasionally. But this fairy had none of that. If she gave him a bag of pixie dust, he was sure it would be poison because of her poor attitude. I guess that’s why they say never meet your heroes.

“What did you mean by knockoffs?” Joon asked.

Ella spun around in the air, held her waist with her right hand, and pointed at Joon with her left hand. “Knockoffs are knockoffs. What is there to explain?” she said.

“Well, I see no difference. maybe except the colors.” Joon said, trying to goad the arrogant fairy.

Ella frowned. “Humph. Well, you are blind then. As you can see, I possess an ego, and those… ugh. Just the thought of I Ella, being compared to a system without ego, is unbefitting to my name.” She stared at Joon with a maddened gaze. How could a human compare her to a system that possessed no ego?

He shrugged aside her words. “Ok… but I don’t see the difference.”

Ella snapped her finger and a status screen popped out. She points at the screen with the tiny stick she conjured out of thin air. “I am going to explain this once. So, pay attention. other systems… can only check the status after they meet a condition”. She said while pointing the stick at the crystal. “The palace system is a little special. It shows your status window, and it can also detect female children with huge mana levels. After it detects the child, it siphons the mana from their bodies and stores it. Until they brought a male child to the altar.

Joon tilted his head. “Soo, what do you do then?” he asked.

In an arrogant tone, she replied. “I know everything in this world. So, there is no question I can’t answer, and… I have a store where you can get any item of your imagination. But you have to pay a price. Also, I have a skill store where you can purchase any skill you want.”

Something doesn’t sound right here, although this system has a lot of cool stuff. Why didn’t it talk about the initial skills, I got when I got isekied. Joon thought. Did the system fairy skip those skills because the skills are locked, or is something else going on?

“Hey, Ella. Do you know the skill ‘lycanthrope’ or ‘Den?’? He asked with hesitance.

She frowned. “Don’t go making up words that do not exist. Ly–con-rope, what’s that? And what’s the den? She asked with anger in her voice. Even with all her knowledge, she had never heard of such words before. That could only mean one thing, they don’t exist, and the child made them up

Joon sensed that something did not add up. The status window he saw initially could not talk, even though he didn’t open it for a while because of his disappointment with the requirement to unlock the skill. There was no way it evolved in a short time.

“em… Ella, when did you get into my head?” he asked with a hint of suspicion in his voice.

“Oh. I heard the king of this empire had a myth-class mana level. So, I hid in that crystal and waited for the opportunity to make one of his descendants my servant to prevent the oncoming disaster. I had been waiting for ten years, but every child they set on this altar had a low mana level. Until today I detected an S-class mana level, so I jumped into your body. But who knew my host would be a girl who cannot even use mana? What bad luck. She said with disappointment while placing her palm on her face.

The only thing Joon got from her explanation was that she intended to use him as a pawn if he was a boy and something about a disaster.

So, what happened to the system I got before? Did it get removed because of her? Joon thought while staring at the status window, “hmmm… what’s that?” squirting his eyes to see two tiny dots at the bottom of the status screen. Two dots at the bottom of a screen could only mean one thing. He raised his baby arm and swiped to the left. The window changed.

It was the status board that had the missing skills. There was one more surprise after changing the status board before Ella disappeared. This meant that he could finally mute that rude brat.
