Ch 5: To live again with a curse price to pay

Now no longer hiding Ethons is being stared at by Eldon the dragon hunter who was attacking Mordos at a time before him throwing a rock at the man's head.

“Why are you back here little elf boy,” Eldon said, removing his sword out of Mordos body.

“Ethons! Runaway from here and return to your people now.”

Mordos does his best to warn the elf boy as he had heard him but hasn't moved from where he stands.

“You should listen to the dragon elf. This place isn’t safe for you to be here in this cave,” Eldon tells him as he slowly walks up to Ethons.

“No way, I am not going to leave my friend like this, why are you ever hurting him anyway.”

“Why you asked, can't you see the elf, I am a hunter whose job is to hunt down dragons like that one and beside me and him we have a history with each other. Now I am going to tell you one more time get the fuck out of here before, I do something that can not be taken back.”

Hearing the warning again Ethons look at the man then move his eyes to look at Mordos wanting him to save himself.

“No.” that what came out of his mouth was enough for Eldon to hear.

“Well don’t blame me for this, I don”t like this any more than you are about to elf.”

Ethons comes to feel a sharp, but cool metal stabbed into his small chest as he slowly looks down to see Eldon's sword inside his body. The feeling from this weapon inside him does immensely send pain throughout the body for a few seconds as soon the numbness comes.

Eldon began to raise the elf boy into the air where the sword went in a little deeper pushing its way out the back. Blood dripped onto the ground of the cave until Ethons body was thrown backward rolling around the ground for a bit then stopping for Mordos to see the boy was dead, not moving.

“Ethons….. No, he didn’t deserve this.” Mordos said with a low whisper for only him to hear.

“Killing an elf isn't something I normally do unless given no other chance.”

Eldon says using his arm to help wipe away Ethons elf blood off the blade part of his sword.

“Now then where were we Mordos before the boy thought it a good idea to butt in.”

The man slowly turned around to quickly face the dragon who was now at a close distance to him and without a second attack opened its mouth to swallow Eldon up.

Mordos began right away to close his mouth while the hunter was inside, but Eldon was using one arm to hold up the upper part of the mouth while using the other to stab into the tongue.

“You may have gotten me when my guard was done, but they're definitely won’t be another chance like that to happen again.”

Even in the mouth of a dragon, Eldon was holding his own in this situation and the next thing he did was remove the sword from the tongue, turning it against the upper part of the mouth. Stabbing it through there as sword blades pop out to be outside, but that doesn’t end there Eldon was going to bring it down to cut through the face.

Yet Mordos starts to make his move and summon the flames within to fire at the dragon hunter inside the mouth. He felt and saw it coming where there was not enough time there and in a cruel fate, the sword was stuck, unable to be removed. So Eldon had to take the chance, picking his life over the sword breaking free from the dragon's mouth, and landing back on the ground.

Mordos breathes his fire out, but the flames never have the chance to blaze the human flesh into ashes.

“You will not get away!.” After the fire stopped coming out, he said this to Eldon looking at him with powerfully detest.

Used one of his legs to mash this human man into the ground hitting only that creating a giant crack on it when the enemy was able to dodge that incoming.

Losing the sword Eldon was weaponless, but he is not going to give up because of that, still willing to continue this fight. The Important thing now was to keep from getting hit as the dragon was attacking non-stop.

It felt like there was no chance for Mordos to do anything to the dragon hunter. Shockingly, he made it possible by catching and holding the man and bringing him in eye contact with each other.

Silences are all there was with the two, but it didn’t come to last long when Mordos broke being the first to speak.

“The elf boy, you could have let him live there wasn’t a need to kill him.”

“I am in disbelief at Mordos witnessing you acting this way for a simple elf. That is not the dragon, I used to know who wouldn’t care for another life with the things you have done.”

“You know nothing about me! You hunters don’t care to understand our kind killing and celebrating in glory over our brother and sister's corpses with your humankind.”

“Don’t make us the monster dragons also carry their sin and what you did to me wouldn’t be ever forgiven.”

Mordos went back to being quiet thinking quickly about the past action this dragon has done while looking at Eldon. Next, he began to bring forces into the hold, crashing the man's bones and throwing his body with such powerful strength into a cave wall.

No human could live through that and Mordos believed as he slowly turned around to move toward Ethons body laying on the ground with blood coming out of the wound in his chest non-stop.

The dragon plummets heavily down near the elf boy's body because of how wounded his body has gotten from the fight with the hunter. These injuries were life-threatening that was going to bring this creature to a dead end after all these years soon.

Mordos looks at Ethons with sadness, another regret to this one life cut to an end before it had the opportunity to fully blossom.

“Forgive me Ethons your life comes to an end this short because of me. I wish you didn’t have to pay for it.”

“It….. not your fault…… you're my friend, I couldn't just…… do nothing while you are in danger.”

Unexpectedly to hear Ethons talking and turning his head slowly to the side to face him with eyes open only by a little.

“If you're still alive then there might still be a chance to save you.”

“Sorry…. Mordos…… I don’t…. Have…. That much time…..”

Ethons only had enough time to say a few words to Mordos causing him to shed a single tear down one of his eyes and now done with that he was going to die.

“No, I will not let your end be this way. There is still a way for you to keep on living, but it will be a curse to live with for the rest of your life.”

Mordos uses one of his wings to wrap itself around Ethons body and bring it close to him where he begins to speak in a language that no one could understand.

As it was being spoken a glow began to shine within the chest area of the dragon where it got bigger and brighter to the point the whole cave was consumed by it.

《In the dark void》

“Damn it, I die again only this time it wasn’t by my own hands, now I wonder what is going to happen to me this time.”

“What are you talking about Ethons?” a familiar voice caused him to jump in surprise.

Fastly turned around to face his friend Mordos who was there in this place with him.

“What are you doing here, Mordos?”

“My life has come to an end boy by the injuries that were given against that hunter.”

“Oh right it did look like a pretty bad wish, I could have done more at the time.”

“You did what you could Ethons and I am grateful for that as this is the reason for me being here talking with you. I wanted to thank you and to tell you that I am sorry for what I have done.”

Ethons didn’t get it as to why his dragon friend is apologizing to him.

“What do you mean, you did nothing wrong to me.”

“Sadly, I have to bring you back to life, you must carry a curse that will mark you for life.”

“A curse Mordos what did you do.”

“Forgive me there isn't much time for us to talk with each other, I wish there was more to at least explain it to you, but I can hope for the best that you can understand it on your own.”

Mordos was right about the time as it felt like Ethons was being pulled by powerful forces that got stronger by the second until his whole was taken back.

“Mordos!.”

“Please wake up, Ethons.”

Ethons could hear a voice calling out to him as the eyes started to slowly open to show faces that he knew of.

“Father and Naruth, what are you two doing here?”
