Chapter Three

 The Spreading Rumors

     Staring at his cell phone, James saw that was a call from a strange number.

He thought for a while and finally connected the call before it dropped.

"Good day sir, please am I talking with mister James, James Flynn?"

James heard a woman's voice that sounded melodious to the ear.

"Yes, please who am I speaking with?"

"I am Ayra, a manager at Mcdonalds' restaurant."

The voice paused, waiting for James to say something, but James has already become stunned at this moment to say anything.

His mouth had become wide open.

He's still finding the money that just entered his account unbelievably, now the company his system told him he has shares in is calling him.

"We just received the notice that you have bought 20% shares of the company, making you the third largest stakeholder of the company."

The angelic and soothing voice continued, sounding amazing.

"If I may ask sir, which city are you located in?"

James finally reacted when he heard the question.

He removed the phone from his ear and covered it with his palm

He took in two large gulps of breath to calm himself down before placing the phone back on his ear.

"Port city."

When the person at the other end of the call heard this, she instantly became surprised.

She had never expected that the person that bought a whopping 20% shares of the company without showing his face would surprisingly be in the same city as hers.

She couldn't calm herself down for a while, feeling excited.

All of a sudden her excitement died down when she remembered something.

'With how this person is taking his time to respond, and when he does, he would reply with only two to three words, he definitely must be arrogant,' she thought condescendingly.

If James was to hear this woman's thoughts at this moment, he would have felt offended and sad.

How could he be arrogant?

He was only trying his best to minimize how much he speaks because he does not want the nervousness in him to be shown in his voice, unfortunately, he does not know.

"Great, sir, could you please come to the headquarters located on McDonald street when you are free, to sign the necessary documents to finalize the deal?"

The voice asked respectfully.

"I would do that…"

"We would be expecting you, sir," then the call dropped.

James couldn't react for a long time.

Everything still felt like a dream to him, a dream he does not want to wake up from.

If someone was to tell James at this moment that everything was a prank, he would do nothing but instantly murder the person.

He does not care about Sarah betraying him anymore.

It might be because of all that happened after then, but James realized at this moment that he does not feel hurt by how Sarah betrayed him, in fact, he felt gratified by this.

This great opportunity might not have come had Sarah not betrayed him, even if came, he might have continued to be deceived by Sarah.

[Does host believes in the system now?]

The system who has long been laughing off to itself quietly when it saw how exaggerated James' face looked and heard his thoughts finally decided to speak up.

The system felt a great sense of accomplishment at this moment.

"Hahaha….." James began to laugh loudly, stunning the passersby and garnering himself different looks and attention to himself.

Even though everybody was stunned by this, they decided not to interfere, it does not concern them.

"Thank you, thank you!!!"

James who also does not care about his surroundings began to thank the system over and over again, forgetting that he does not need to speak out.

This further stunned and startled the crowd.

Without realizing it, some people had begun to take out their phones to film him.

James knelt heavily on the tiled road, thanking the system over and over again.

In no time, tears began to gush out of his eye as he remembered all the suffering he had gone through since the day his parents died till now, then how the girl he has sacrificed so much for had dumped him.

Unknowingly, many people began to post the video on different social media with the same captions on it;

"A man that has completely gone crazy is spotted just now!"

Within a few minutes, the videos has gotten thousands of engagements, and many people began to share them.

Rapidly, the students of Dee university began to see the videos.

In a boy's hostel, three boys were currently in a particular room, two of them were playing video games on their computers while the third one is currently busy scrolling through his phone.

He suddenly paused a bit and his eyes widen in shock.

"Fuck!!!!" he exclaimed loudly, shocking his roommates.

"What the hell happened to you second bro?"

The two that were focused on their games instantly got their attention diverted, then they immediately got killed.

They stared angrily at their third bro and were about to fire him with different insults when they were interrupted by him.

"What happened to third brother?!"He questioned loudly as he rushed to his friends.

"See what I saw," he gave his friends his cell phone.

Curious, the duo took the phone and started at the screen.

The moment they saw the contents shown on it, they also become appalled.

"I don't believe this!!"

One of the two that was playing the game hardened his face and tried to convince himself.

"I don't believe this also," the guy addressed as the second brother also harden his face and tried to convince himself.

Then the two that has made up their minds stared at the one that was in deep thought.

"If you two brats could not believe this, how could I, the eldest believe."

He also hardens his face.

"I know this place, let's go for third bro."

This three were James' roommates.

They were the only friends James have at Dee University.

These friends of his were so loyal to him, that they've suggested times without numbers for James to stop doing all the work he was doing, that they would foot his bills but James would always decline the offer.

He felt that it would be unfair to them.

Inside a room filled with everything pink, a beautiful girl who was going through her phone suddenly stopped and widen her eyes in alarm.

She couldn't help but wipe her eyes with her hand, as if she wasn't seeing the right thing, after making sure she has seen the right thing, she also rushed up from her bed and flew out.

Like this, different people in their hostels began to see this video.

Some people would only give it extra glances, someone would feel pity, some would look unconcerned, and some would feel excited.

In a hotel room, six people were seated facing each other in a peer of two.

Meals spread on the long dining table in their front.

Sarah and her ugly boyfriend were currently placing meals into each other's mouths while muttering sweet nothingness to themselves.

From time to time, they would give themselves deep kisses without caring that there were people around them.

The rest also picked themselves in pairs, discussing different nonsense to themselves while eating their meals, trying their best not to see not hear this shameless couple.

It was at this moment a phone began to ring.

Everybody's attention instantly shifted to one of the girls there.

The girl who was covered with heavy makeup looked up apologetically.

She removed her phone from her bag and answered the call.

Just as she was about to snap angrily at the caller, she heard the person at the other end of the call telling her to check the school's forum urgently.

In shock, she disconnected the call and logged into the school forum.

Her eyes abruptly widen in shock when she saw the video in the breaking news section.

"What happened, babe?"

Sarah who has been busy staring at her friend whose face was filled with shock couldn't help but ask.

"Take," the girl passed the phone to Sarah, who in turn played the video 

"Hahahahaha!!!!! He deserves this…."

She began to laugh happily at the video.

"Why was I too blind in the past to agree to go out with this sort of person."

Not a single ounce of compassion could be seen on her face at all, as she replayed the video again.

"What is that," Gab who has become interested in what got such a reaction from his girlfriend questioned, then the phone was also passed over to him.

He became stunned.

"Honey, did you see the caption?"

He passed the phone back to his girlfriend who suddenly became stunned.

"How dare these bastards call me the girlfriend of someone that has become crazy!!!!"

She screamed angrily.

The caption there is; "James Flynn a student of computer science and the boyfriend of Sarah Bolts has been seen going crazy this noon."

It was written in bold and capital letters.

"No... No…. I must change this."

Everybody in the room has already taken out their phones at this moment to check what was going on.

Sarah instantly went to the comment section without reading what was there, scared that she would see something that would spoil her already spoilt mood.

"He became crazy because I dumped him, okay…. Please nobody should call such an idiot and dumb fellow my boyfriend anymore .."

She wrote, then the remaining five in the room testified to it with their account.

Instantly, the comments began to get likes and replies.

In no time, it took the top position and got pinned.

A few minutes later, the video caption changed.

James Flynn a student of computer science department has gone crazy this noon because his girlfriend Sarah Bolts dumped him."
