END OF A MISSION

"Everything is there, seven million dollars worth of bitcoins. Well done Najmeh," he said with a smile as he gazed at me.

I felt relieved immediately after he said that. I wasn’t sure if the bitcoins were in there. Good thing they are.

"Thanks," I muttered.

He closed the laptop in front of him and picked it up. Then he stood up.

"Bruce, you and Najmeh did a great job. The both of you should go rest and treat yourselves nicely. I am taking you guys out tonight. Let’s celebrate," Shadow said with a smirk.

"OK, uncle," I said as I stood up from the couch. Immediately, I said, "Uncle." I realized that I had just made a great mistake. Shadow doesn’t like me calling him Uncle; instead, he prefers me calling him Shadow.

"What did you just call me?" Shadow asked with his eyebrows twisted together in fury. He was looking like an angry tiger that was about to devour his prey.

"I am so sorry, it was a slip-up," I pleaded as I knelt on the floor and rubbed my hands together begging him.

"OK, I will let it slide, since you did a great job," Shadow said as he exited the living room.

I stood up from the floor and looked at Bruce.

"You did a good job out there," I said with a smile as I made my way out of the living room. I arrived at my bedroom. I opened the door and went in.

I sat down on my bed. Flashbacks of the mission started popping up in my head. I can’t believe I spent almost two months on that mission. I have been pretending to be a cook just so I could complete that mission. I need to relax. It has been two months since I have been in my bedroom. I stood up from the bed.

My bedroom was one of the most equipped bedrooms in the whole mansion; a computer desk, with one of the best computer equipment in the whole of Turkey, was close to my bed; a large standing mirror was at the other side of my bed; hanging on my walls were seven samurai swords, which were all made in the ancient days in Japan; Num-chunks; boxing gloves; shotguns and rifles. I scuttled over to my closet, took off all my clothes and opened the closet. I collected a bathing towel and tied it around my chest.

I made my way over to my restroom area.

Later in the evening,

It was about 8 pm. Shadow got us VIP table at a famous night club, and we were all sitting around the table, Shadow, Bruce, Murat, and I. A couple of champagne bottles were on the table, and the smell of cigars filled the air, Shadow was smoking a big brown cigar, the loud music was booming in the club.

"Let’s raise a toast to a successful mission," Shadow said as he picked up a half-filled glass of champagne. He raised the glass.

I carried my glass in front of me and also raised it. Everyone raised their glasses.

"To a successful mission!" Shadow yelled. We all hit our glasses together.

After that, I drank from my glass. Loud music was playing in the background. Shadow stood up and scuttled over to the DJ area. A few minutes later, the DJ stopped the music and the VIP section went quiet. Shadow ambled back to his seat at the table and sat down.

"I have something I need to share with you guys. It’s a new mission, but for now, let’s just enjoy the party. Tomorrow at 8 am, we will all have a meeting," Shadow stated.

"OK sir," Bruce replied with a smirk.

"Alright, sir," Murat replied.

I shook my head in agreement. I can’t believe we have a new mission. I mean, we barely just finished the last mission.

"Now let’s have some fun!" Shadow yelled, he waved his hand at the DJ, and the DJ started the music.

The following morning,

I was walking down the hallway heading over to the living room. I arrived at the living room. As I got there, Bruce and Murat were already sitting down and waiting inside the living room.

I scuttled over to an empty seat and sat down. I greeted Bruce and Murat. A few minutes later, Shadow entered the living room. He walked over to his special sofa and sat down. He was sitting opposite us.

Shadow pulled up his long sleeve and gazed at his wristwatch.

"I am right on time," he said.

"Welcome guys," he added as he gazed at

Shadow dipped his hand into his pocket and took his cellphone out. He placed his cellphone on the center table.

"Now, I will explain what the new mission is all about," Shadow said in a rumbling tone.

"This mission is going to be very tough. We have never done something like this before. This mission is going to be our last mission together as a team. After this mission, we will all go our separate ways. You can all go and start a new life," Shadow stated.

"What? Our last mission together?" Bruce asked, raising his eyebrows with his mouth hanging loosely.

"Yes, you heard me right," Shadow responded.

What is he talking about our last mission together? I thought Shadow was in this business for life.

"Najmeh, I know what you might be thinking. Don’t worry, this mission is going to be worth it and yes, this will be our last mission together. I am retiring. The rest of you can do what you want with the money you get from the mission," Shadow stated as he stared at me.

It seems like the money from this mission is going to be huge, for Shadow to be thinking about retirement.

"So, what is this mission about?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Shadow picked up his phone from the center of the table. He started pressing his phone, a few minutes later, he turned the phone and faced it at us.

"You guys should take a look at this picture one after the other," he said, stretching the phone towards Bruce.

Bruce stood up and collected the phone. He gazed at the picture, he handed it over to me. As I looked at the picture, "Wow," I said, with my eyes wide open. The picture on the phone was a sparkling red ruby. Just from the picture, you could tell that the ruby was worth millions.

I handed the phone over to Murat, and he also stared at the picture. After that, he gave the phone back to Shadow.

"Now you see that Ruby over there has been sold to one of the richest Arab man from Qatar. His name is Rashaad Bin Ahmed. He resides in Los Angeles, USA. He bought the ruby for 2.3 billion dollars at an auction, the ruby was auctioned off by a museum. The name of the ruby is “Oasis red ruby”," Shadow explained.

My eyes popped wide open, "Oh my God!" I screamed out loud. Bruce and Murat’s eyes were also wide open. That amount came as a shock to all of us.

And I thought the ruby was worth millions.

"2.3 billion dollars for that ruby?" Bruce inquired, raising an eyebrow.
