An Alfa Romeo SUV stopped in front of a premium Myers clothing store. Two young women got out of the car, all wearing fashionable clothing and with thick makeup on their faces and more.
âYou want to buy your wedding dress here?â Natashaâs elder sister, Skarlette, frowned straight away. âItâs too much for us. A single dress here might cost more than the wedding itself.â
Natasha, however, waved her fatherâs credit card and laughed.
âYouâve gotta be kidding me.â
âItâs going to be fine,â Natasha assured. âThis is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I want everything to be posh and perfect.â
âBut you donât want to look too rich because Denver might think youâre trying to compete with him,â Skarlette suggested. âYou donât want to make your man think that.â Her sister hadnât even introduced him to her yet, so she had little to no idea about him other than knowing how he looked and a few other things her sister had shared with her. Denver was also Natashaâs schoolmate, and his family grew to be much richer than Natashaâs family.
âI wonât give that chance to Denver because Iâm going to buy his suit as well,â Natasha said.
âEHH?â Skarletteâs jaw dropped. She was shorter than Natasha and was a little chubby. âDadâs gonna kill you afterward. Iâm sure.â
âEverything he earns is for us, so why would he do that?â
âY-Youâve got a point, but⌠anyway, letâs go,â Skarlette dragged her sister into the store. âBy the way, I ordered a pizza this afternoon, and guess who showed up?â
âA pizza delivery guy?â
âOf course, but⌠he was so freaking handsome. I swear I drooled more from seeing his face than when eating the pizza. Heâs of perfect height, you know; I can kiss him without making my toes work too much. And his butt⌠I only stole a few glances, but I wouldnât mind looking at it all day. Donât judge me, but I feel like breaking up with my boyfriend.â
âHuh?â Natasha softly slapped her sisterâs head. âDonât be silly. How can you break up with Henry for a pizza delivery guy?â
âWell, if you had seen him, you wouldnât say Iâm silly. You wouldnât even think of marrying Denver, either.â
Natashaâs gaze turned sharp.
âHaha, I was joking, of course,â Skarlette pinched his younger sisterâs cheek as they entered the store. âBut seriously, I was shocked when you started dating Russell. I mean, he doesnât come from a rich family like us, and heâs average-looking at best. And I heard you say he wasnât good at studies. I havenât spoken much with him, so I donât know about his personality, either. I feared that you might even marry him, but after you rejected his marriage proposal the other day, I felt relieved. And because you rejected Russell, Denver came straight to our house and told our dad that he wants to marry you.â
Natasha thought about Russell a little and smiled. âYou know why I picked Russell of all people?â she cheekily glanced at her sister.
Skarletteâs eyes turned round. âDonât tell me⌠you wanted to make Denver envy you?â
âHaha,â Natasha laughed out loud. âIt worked much better than I thought. I didnât expect Denver to come to our house and talk to our dad like that.â
âDamnâŚâ Skarlette exhaled audibly. âYou are my little sister, but you're quite scary. You know that?â
âThanks. Iâm just securing my future, thatâs all.â
âMm, but youâve gotta do a little investigation about Denver before proceeding. I mean, didnât he tell our father he never dated any girl before?â
âYeah, I didnât see him date anyone until now.â
âBullshit. Someone as rich as him canât be so innocent and lovely. Besides, Iâve never seen a man that never lied,â Skarlette spoke from her own experience. âIn fact, I lie, and you lie. We all lie to make our lives easier. Thatâs what makes us humans, which means Denver isnât a human?â
âHaha, youâre really funny today,â Natasha pinched her sisterâs nose. âI canât give you any proof, but my time with him says heâs not like other men. Heâs quite an honest guy.â
âIs that so? But most women think the same way about her latest boyfriend, donât you think?â
âWill you stop doubting Denver or not?â Natasha raised her voice, clearly annoyed.
âWhoa, lower your voice,â Skarlette covered her sisterâs mouth. âIâm not gonna say anything about your precious fiance, so letâs finish what weâre here for.â
At the same time, a red Alfa Wolfe sports car stopped by the Myers clothing store. Everybody outside couldnât help but turn their heads toward this extremely lavish car.
A shop assistant came over to Natasha and Skarlette and helped them choose the dresses. No matter which dress they saw, they were all priced over 500,000 dollars, and Skarlette kept using one word: No. After receiving ten nos on a trot, the shop assistant took them to a different section where the prices were more affordable, ranging between 100 to 300 thousand dollars. Skarlette could finally smile and say yes to whatever the shop assistant tried to show to her sister. After a long forty minutes of trying many dresses, Natasha finally chose a jasmine-patterned wedding dress with a hooded see-through cape. âOh my, Nattie!â Skarlette covered her mouth in joy and astonishment. âYou look like a royal princess in this.â She quickly checked the price. âItâs 325K, but itâs worth it. I canât believe Iâm saying this.â âIâm happy that you liked it. Do you think Russell, I mean, Denver, will like it as well?â âIf he doesnât, there must be something wrong with his eyes!â âHaha,â Natasha lau
A minute ago.Russell was inside the changing room, staring at the price tag more than the pastel pink suit itself. â2.7 million dollars for a wedding suitâŚâJust what was in this suit that made it so pricey? No matter how much he worked his head over it, he couldnât understand. He and his family could live happily ever after with this much money, after all. While he was buttoning up, he heard a voice talking with Kyra. It felt somewhat familiar, but he didnât recognize it. That voice belonged to Skarlette. âMaybe she met with some old friend?â he thought.Russell looked at himself in the mirror. Though the suit made him look good, there wasnât much glow in his eyes. He pressed his hand against his face in the mirror. âShe rejected my face. She rejected my love. She rejected my honesty. She rejected my lifestyle. With one swing of her hand, she rejected my everything⌠and I thought she was my everything.âHe remembered the moment when he had met her at the childrenâs amusement park, w
Natasha snorted and gave her credit card. The cashier swiped the card in the machine, but the swipe got declined. The cashier swiped again. The same thing happened. He looked at the sisters once, and Skarlette told him to do it again. The cashier tried again, and it didnât work.âIâm sorry, the transaction has been declined. There must be an issue with the card.ââThatâs impossible,â Natasha raised her voice. âCheck again.âHe checked again, but the same thing happened. He gave them the card but not the items. âCan you please move aside?âSkarlette was shell-shocked, whereas Natasha quivered with mortification and could not lift her head to look in Russellâs direction.Being told to move aside by a mere cashier⌠was there anything more humiliating?Seeing their pale expressions, Russell whispered to Kyra, âCan you pay for them?âKyra didnât expect that, so she couldnât hide the look of surprise. âI can, butâŚâ she answered in a low voice, âit might be taken in the wrong way.ââSkarlett
Laughing till their stomachs burst, Natasha and Skarlette came home to their 5000-square-foot bungalow their dad had bought for 700,000 dollars many years ago. It had a luxurious finishing with custom details, and their father, Frederick, made sure to get it painted every other year. So, the building looked pretty new even to this day. It was the biggest building in the neighborhood and would sell for at least 4 million dollars in the market today. The sisters were literally in tears from laughing, and their mother, Diana, felt happy from seeing them. Diana almost looked like them, even though she was twice as old as them. Even her brown hair was thick and long. Diet and exercise were her secrets, and she made sure to discipline her children in this regard, though she didnât really care about the other things in their life, at least not until recently.âWhatâs so funny?â Diana asked.âNothing, Mom,â Natasha gave the clothing bags to her mom and went to her fatherâs room along with her
âI will build a great monument for you, Natasha,â a manly voice kept giving promises to her over the mobile, and she couldnât help but blush. âOur names will be etched in history as the greatest lovers the world has ever seen.â âStop it, Denver. Youâre exaggerating your love a bit too much.â âIâm actually understating it, dear,â Denverâs voice was rough yet tender. She could feel a comforting warmth in his voice, which she didnât feel all that much in Russellâs voice. âIf you cut open my heart, you will find yourself in it.â Natashaâs blush deepened. She missed getting praised like this. While Russellâs company wasnât particularly bad, he wasnât anywhere as romantic as Denver, and she had to actively kiss Russell to even get a kiss back from him. âI should have realized your love for me sooner, Denver.â âItâs alright. Iâm glad you finally accepted my love. Youâll be my princess forever,â Denver blew a kiss that tickled her ears. âSee you tonight.â âTonight?â âYeah, Iâll sneak int
âEHHH?â Russellâs heart shook when Viola said she was going to text Kyra Lynn. However, he immediately remembered that he didnât have her contact number in his phone. âWait, you canât message her because I donât have her number.ââBut Iâve already memorized her number,â Viola quickly started typing the message and read the words she was typing, âHi, Iâm Russell Bennett, your fiance. I've been unable to sleep properly ever since meeting you.ââOi, oi, oi,â Russell got up and wrestled with her for fifteen seconds before using his brute strength and bending her wrist, making her cry and let go of his mobile. He grabbed his mobile quickly and began checking IT. Luckily she didnât send the message yet. âWhew.ââYou pig!â Viola started beating him in anger. âI was helping you, and this is how you treat your sister?ââAw, wait!â Russell caught her arms again, and she immediately started yelling, âMom!âRussell instantly let go of her. âIâm sorry,â he apologized in a low voice.âSorry isnât e
Arnold staggered. (I donât get it. Why would Fredrick do such a thing?) âThis must be some kind of a mistake,â he quickly said. âIâll call him right now.â He dialed Fredrickâs number but couldnât reach it. He tried a couple more times, but the same thing happened. He looked at Tyler and said, âIâm calling. Iâll talk to him.ââYou have the IQ of a spoon, dude,â Tyler bluntly said. âHe probably already blocked your number. Donât you get that? Or are you trying my patience?âArnoldâs expression froze like a fly stuck in a web.âThis is what happens when you stay at someoneâs house for free,â Tyler indifferently stated.âT-Thatâs not true,â Arnold had worked his ass off for Fredrick and his businesses. His efforts would surely cover the rent for this house. He was never leeching off of Fredrick. He had his pride to keep, after all. Even the car given to him by Fredrick was not a new car but a used car, and it wasnât worth much. Still, Arnold used that car mostly to do Fredrickâs work than
If there was one thing that Russell and his siblings learned that day, it was that nobody would hesitate to humiliate you and your family if you were poor and didnât have much influence.Arnold definitely had some influence in the neighborhood, but none of that mattered once Fredrick stopped supporting him. Even those who Arnold knew outside of Fredrickâs influence werenât willing to give their support to him now.The humiliation and heartbreak they had to face after walking out of the house was much more compared to what Tyler had put them through.Arnold wanted to move to the town where Jenniferâs parents lived, but Jennifer was utterly against leaving the city. Besides, Arnold already owned a small farm house, so why should she and her children leave the city? That made no sense to her.In the end, she forced Arnold to move all the luggage to the farm where Russellâs mom, Elora, was living.Russell felt so happy as he would be able to live with his mother, but the moment Jennifer e
