Family dinner (2) {Cassidy Smith}

The procession of black SUVs stopped in front of an estate's gate as the people in the car at the lead talked to the gate's security.

After clearing up a few details, the gate was finally opened and the cars moved in an orderly fashion through it towards their final destination.

This estate was one of the best in Santa Monica with over 300 well furnished and top notch homes within it's walls. The community was amazing, very kind people who respected each others spaces and minded their own business. Not to mention the high grade security.

These were some of the many reasons Kelvin's parents decided to stay here despite how much he tried to persuade them to get someplace else to stay so he wouldn't make the multiple hours trip here evertime he wanted to see them.

"This is a really nice environment. Good roads, lovely decor and beautiful people too.", Gary commented as he gazed at the multiple homes they went past.

"Want to get a house here?", Kelvin asked.

"And abandon my penthouse in New York?, No way.", Gary laughed.

After driving for a few more minutes they finally arrived in front of a beautiful storey building with it's walls painted white and had a well mowed lawn.

"Seems like dad has finally decided to do some house work for a change.", Kelvin said as he saw the lawn which he remembered was filled with really tall grasses the last time he saw it.

One of the security personnel opened the door for Kelvin and Gary who both stepped out of the car. A woman then walked out of the house and moved towards both of them with a smile.

'Here we go.'

"Mother.", Kelvin said with a smile as he opened his arms to give his mum a hug.

Smack!

Everywhere became silent as Kelvin's mum just gave him a loud slap that caught everyone off guard.

Kelvin remained frozen in his open arms position with the smile still on his face as he tried to understand what just happened, when his mum suddenly hugged him.

"Welcome home my dear.", Faith said as she let go of Kelvin.

"Good evening Mrs Gregory.", Gary greeted with a smile.

"Gary.", Faith smiled back.

"Please, come in. Everyone is waiting for you inside. But keep your security outside, I don't want them in my house.... except for Steve anyway.", Faith stated. Smiling at Steve at the end of her statement.

"Of course ma'am.", Gary said and Faith nodded before walking back into the house.

Gary looked at Kelvin who was still frozen and tapped him on his shoulder before laughing slightly.

"Your mum is still as scary as the day I met her.", Gary remarked.

"Tell me about it.", Kelvin responded as he rubbed his red cheek. That slap really stung.

....

Kelvin, Gary and Steve all walked into the house and Faith quickly brought their attention to the large dining table at the other end which was next to the wide windows that gave the diners a beautiful view of the garden at the back.

A sigh left Kelvin's mouth when he saw the people seated at the table. There was his mum, his dad, his elder and younger brother with his sister no where to be found and three other people he didn't know.

They all exchanged greetings with each other as they sat down at the free chairs next to the table.

"Such beautiful carvings Mr Gregory.", Gary said as he moved his fingers along the carved in designs on the table.

"Thank you, it's a hobby I picked up a while back. I would say I've gotten better at it.", Gregory chuckled lightly.

"Well, you sure have Mr Gregory.", Gary smiled.

Kelvin's elder brother, Emmanuel, locked his gaze with Kelvin and smiled at him. Kelvin just rolled his eyes moved his gaze to the three people he didn't know at this table.

"I don't mean to sound rude but who are you people?", Kelvin asked.

"Oh. I apologize. We were so caught off guard by you entering that we forgot to introduce ourselves.", The woman laughed lightly.

"I am Mrs Smith, this is my husband, Mr smith and that lovely young lady over there is our daughter, Cassidy Smith. We are your parents' neighbors."

Cassidy waved at Kelvin after her mother introduced her and he waved back. He could already guess why they were here.

"You could only imagine our delight when your parents invited us to dinner to meet the great Kelvin J. Gregory. One of the most powerful men in the world.", Mr Smith said with so much enthusiasm. It was clear that he was very happy to be here.

"I would rather you forget about all of my titles while we are at this dinner table. For now, I'm just the son of Gregory the first.", Kelvin replied with a smile.

"Of course, of course. I'll keep that in mind Mr Kelvin."

"Don't call me "Mr Kelvin" either. Just Kelvin is fine."

"Ok, Kelvin."

Everyone went silent for a while. The Smiths were still dumbfounded by the fact that they got to meet Kelvin and could not come up with anything else apart from just staring at him. Except Cassidy anyway, who just fiddled with her phone.

"So Kelvin, I don't see you with anything that looks like a present.", Faith stated.

"Where are the gifts?, I hope you didn't come without one?", Gregory added.

"Don't worry, I got you guys something.", Kelvin said and Steve got up and handed him a large bottle of wine that seemed to be made of gold!

"No way, is that a G and G wine?", Emmanuel asked as he looked at the wine bottle glimmering under the light that illuminated the room.

"Yep, and it isn't just any wine. This is premium shit, only 10 of it is made in the world annually. Had to pull a few strings to get it.", Kelvin said before handing the wine to his mother.

"Is this good wine?", Faith queried as she scanned the bottle with her skeptical gaze.

"Didn't you hear anything I just said?", Kelvin asked with a mildly annoyed expression.

"It is mum. Tasted it once at a yacht party in England once, had been finding this thing for years.", Emmanuel explained.

"Well, G & G wine is one of my companies. You could have just asked me to hook you up with one.", Kelvin said.

"You don't pick my calls Kelvin. How the hell was I suppose to get to you?", Emmanuel said with a raised brow.

"Fair."

"On to more important matters, let's pop this bottle baby!", Emmanuel exclaimed as he reached for the wine bottle.

"Shut up.", Faith slapped his hands away, "The wine will be drunk with the main course."

"I would have preferred a Buggati.", Gregory said and Kelvin glared at Gary who turned his face away nervously.

"You must get access to a lot of premium things.", Mr Smith stated towards Kelvin.

"Well, I know a guy.", Kelvin said and they all laughed.

His gaze then later landed on Cassidy who seemed to not be interested in their conversation so far. He couldn't help but admire her beautiful face and light blonde hair.

'She actually isn't half bad.', Kelvin thought.
