Chapter One: Use Her.

INSIDE the mansion of the Marshalls’, there are about ten men lining up at the main door. Looking at them, Paxton couldn't help but sigh in frustration. How could a parents marry off their daughter to a man who can't even afford to wear decent clothes? Some of them were uglies, and some looked arrogant. They all look like they only wanted Lorelei's money. He guessed, his consigliere was right.

While waiting on the last line, he finally saw Lorelei. Seeing her from a distance, he could recognize her right away. With a big scar on the left side of her face down to her neck… he felt sorry at how she looked. The only thing that made him recognized Lorelei was her light-blue eyes. 

After ten years, he finally decided to find the woman who saved his life. He asked his consigliere to find her, but it turned out that the woman who saved him lost her beauty because of the accident. Ten years ago, his family died in a banquet inside the mansion of Cartiers. Someone burned them alive and he was the only one who survived. If it wasn’t because of Lorelei, he wouldn’t surive that fire. Now, it was his turn to save this woman’s life.

Laughters stopped him from remembering the past. Three women are laughing at Lorelei, teasing her like she doesn't have any feelings.

“Look at the line who wants to marry you. Only ten men are willing to marry an ugly woman like you! And we are so sure that they are just after your money… oh! Maybe you could choose the ugly one! He might be sincere to you!” The woman with blonde hair pointed at the ugly man who was in front of him.

Paxton crossed his arms over his chest then he gently laughed. He couldn’t believe how high this curly-haired woman believed on herself. She’s natural born ugly, unlike Lorelei who became ugly because she has a kind heart to help someone in need. His laughter caught the woman’s attention. 

Her eyes widened. “Oh, he’s handsome!” she laughed sarcastically. Then turned back her attention to Lorelei. “You can choose this man, although he was poor, you can make him your toy boy!”

The woman with curly hair laughed and then added. “Just buy him expensive clothes to fit in on our world. Look at him, his clothes were… erm, too old.”

They laugh again and fired a lot of insulting words toward him but Paxton just smirked, he didn’t mind them insulting him. When Lorelei glanced at Paxton, she rolled her eyes knowing that he was just one of those men lining up for money, not because they liked her.

Paxton was chosen to be Lorelei’s husband. Of all the men who lined up there, he was the most decent. The truth is, he was guilty knowing that Lorelei should marry him because she had passed through the age for marriage, she’s thirty now. And that was all because she’s ugly… and it’s a tradition in Marshall family to get a woman married before thirty.

From then on, Paxton kept on visiting Lorelei. A week later, they got married without proper conversation. He couldn't understand why they trusted him right away, but at least he was able to do his plan…

“Why did you marry me?” Lorelei asked, shyly. “I know that it's a silly question. I am not beautiful, perhaps it was because of my money—”

“Don’t you remember me?” he asked.

Lorelei stopped talking and then stared at him blankly, trying to retrieve her memory from this man. 

“Do I know you?” she asked, confused.

Paxton cleared his throat and gently smiled. “Of course you didn't remember me, it has been ten years and I changed a lot…” he said. “The reason why I wanted to marry you is to save you from those men who wanted to take advantage of a kind woman like you.”

Her face lit up after hearing those words, but she wasn't convinced enough. “Why do you want to save me?”

“Because you also saved me from dying ten years ago. And because of your kind heart, your face and body got ruined…”

Lorelei was surprised by what he revealed. She couldn't believe that the man she saved ten years ago… was in front of her showing his gratitude.

“Now, if you allow, can we go now?” he asked.

“To where?” she asked.

“We’re married, you should come with me to see your new home.”

An expensive white Bugatti Centodieci stopped in front of them then the door opened. A man wearing a business suit get out of the car walked towards them then bowed his head.

“My Lord,” he greeted, pertaining to Paxton.

Lorelei was surprised when the man lifted up his head and looked up at Paxton. This car is a limited edition and has only ten units in the world! She was still confused and finding the right word to say when the man opened the door to the backseat. 

“Wait, did you rent this Bugatti Centodieci?” she asked.

Paxton smiled at her and then slowly shook his head. “No, why would I rent this out? It’s mine.”

Seeing Lorelei’s reaction, he was proud of himself. For ten years that he went away from this country, he didn’t stop doing everything to gain power. Now that he is powerful, he will surely get the revenge he was seeking for. And that revenge starts here…

Not long after Lorelei was fascinated by how expensive his car was, she was more surprised when they stopped at a villa. Aside from the man who drove the car all the way here, another man in a black business suit opened the door for them. He bowed and lead the way to the main door. 

All the way inside the villa, every person they passed through always bowed their heads to Paxton, calling him, “my lord.” It was all new to Lorelei, she didn’t expect that this what will greet her.

“Who’s villa is this?” Lorelei couldn’t help but ask.

“This is mine…” Paxton replied. 

“So, you didn’t really want my money… it was all because you wanted to save me?”

“Yes…” Paxton said hesitatingly.

The truth is, it wasn’t just because he wanted to save her. Aside from the fact that he wanted to repay Lorelei’s kindness, he also wanted to use her for his own benefit… after ten years of trying to find the arsonist behind his family’s death, he found out that the person who did that horrible thing was connected to Lorelei and her family… all he wanted was revenge… and Lorelei’s family isn’t an exception.

When they got into an enormous room inside the mansion, Paxton removed his coat and put it on the rack stand beside the door.

“Remove your clothes now, Lorelei,” he said in a raspy tone.

Lorelei stopped walking after hearing that from Paxton, her eyes widened, and quickly turned her head to him who was now leaning towards her. She panicked. Although they are already married, she couldn't believe he would ask for that right away when in fact they didn’t love each other! She thought he only wants to save her?

“I… what?” she asked.

His raven eyes looked at her deeply. “If you don’t, how could I see your scars?”
