3| Summon Spirit Thief

Something hurtled towards Eryk's head. It stretched like a long, flexible whip, but its slashes were as painful as swords.

Slap!

Eryk dodged a little too late. The tip of the whip scraped his cheek until it bled. After hitting his cheek, the whip made of plant vines was again drawn into the palm of a person standing covering the end of the alley.

A beautiful girl with waist-length black hair wearing a red qipao (Chinese dress) modified to be more casual and slightly open at the chest blocked Eryk's steps. The pounding of her knee boots made Eryk tremble slightly.

The girl stood with her hands clasped on her waist. Between her body twisted several tendrils of green plants with leaves, each leaf has an eye. The plant tendrils seemed alive and stuck all over the girl's body, loosely coiled and moving.

Eryk needed to see the proper form of the plant vines wrapped around the girl's body. He thought the dozens of eyes that might attack him in the darkness were beasts. But those are the eyes of each leaf attached to the plant's tendrils.

"Shut up there, you assassins!" shouted the girl.

Eryk stuttered. He had already turned around and was ready to jump back onto the roof of a nearby building when the girl called him an assassin. Eryk stood frozen while clutching a box of fried chicken to his chest. White has run away. Its wings flapped in the air soundlessly.

"Put down whatever you're carrying!" said the girl in the red qipao angrily.

Eryk didn't know who the woman who suddenly came and surprised him was. However, Eryk doesn't like being called a killer, and he doesn't like it even more, when he's told to put down his game when he's still hungry.

Eryk assessed the situation. He glanced around, looking for a gap and a platform to escape onto the roof. However, the girl with the vines stepped closer and blocked his movements.

A pair of green plant tendrils extended again and tried to entangle Eryk's body. The plant wrapped around Eryk's upper body, so he accidentally dropped the box of fried chicken.

At the same time, the tendrils of other plants stretched out and snared the box of fried chicken so it wouldn't fall to the ground. The girl with the red qipao approached Eryk from behind and how surprised she was when she found a box of fried chicken left over from the trash.

"What is this? Are you trying to play me? Where did you hide that thing?"

Eryk needed help understanding the situation. Even though his body is snared by the tendrils of plants, he can still freely jump into the air with his parkour skills. Eryk ran using one of the restaurant's walls as a fulcrum, and he flipped in the air several times to escape the vines entangled from his body. Then Eryk landed smoothly behind the girl.

"Fuck!" shouted the girl. "You think you can escape my summoned spirit?"

Eryk, who was kneeling on one knee, was immediately alert. "Summoned spirits?" he muttered.

Eryk's eyes narrowed. He has terrible memories of two men who once tried to kill him with the power of a summoned spirit.

Eryk looked at the long-haired girl. "I don't know what or who you mean. However, you are wrong if you mistake me for a murderer and steal my dinner."

Eryk hissed in annoyance. He didn't like having his dinner routine ruined by little things.

The girl was no less furious. She was sure the figure she was looking for was Eryk. The summoned spirit in the form of plant tendrils still wrapped around the fried chicken box suddenly wrapped around it tightly so that the fried chicken packaging melted into pieces along with the fried chicken.

"Summoner..." Eryk hissed angrily at the girl in front of him. "There's nothing I hate the most besides arrogant and arbitrary summoner groups. The humans down here, at worst, are still better than you summoners."

White, the owl who kept watching from the roof of the building, suddenly shot and dived sharply toward Eryk. The flapping of its wings was followed by the flapping of dozens of other owls that came with it. Their coat color varies; brown, black, golden yellow, grey, or a combination of these colors. They came together, flapping their wings and enveloping Eryk's body. The next second, Eryk's body lifted up.

"Stop!" shouted the girl. "You think you can run away after making such a fuss here?"

The line moved its hand and pointed its palm at Eryk, who flew into the air. From the girl's palms emerged very long thorny plant tendrils to hunt Eryk and the owls.

Before Eryk reached the roof of the building, one of his legs was entangled by the girl's plant tendrils. She pulled hard until Eryk fell again with a thump to the surface of the dark alley. The owls that tried to take him away immediately scattered.

The sudden attack caught Eryk by surprise. He fell to the ground on his back. He had missed his dinner, and now the strange girl in the peculiar dress with the vines surrounded him.

"You refuse to admit it and try to run away?" From under her skirt, the girl took out a knife that flashed sharp. "Then, in exchange, I will take your thieving fingers."

The girl lunged forward. She kept moving with her plant tendrils to attack Eryk, who was still lying in the middle of the alley.

Eryk grabbed the edge of the trash can and jumped on it.

"You're fast too, huh?" quipped the girl. "Are you also a summoner? I see the owls keep following you."

A large tree suddenly appeared from the wall where Eryk was trying to climb. Eryk staggered for balance. The girl laughed, seeing Eryk fall again.

The tree trunk kept sticking out and repeatedly disappearing from the entire surface of the wall where Eryk was trying to stand. Since there was no more foothold, Eryk saw a three-meter drainpipe on the left and then jumped. As soon as his fingers caught the iron. The pipe came off the wall in a burst of brick dust.

Eryk fell, and his side hit the asphalt. Air exploded out of his lungs.

The long-haired girl with plant tendrils on her body brought her face closer to Eryk and grinned.

"Keep him on the ground!" the girl ordered to her vines.

Eryk lay on the asphalt surface with many plants twisting and entangling his body. Eryk really couldn't move, even breathe. He had a lot of trouble. His whole body felt clamped and pulled to the bottom of the earth, leaving only his face on the ground.

"Please don't...."

Eryk resisted, but the girl sat on Eryk's feet and held his arm.

"I thought at first that you were also a summoner, but it turns out that your body is weak and lame. You may be good at running away, but not tough enough to run from me. Tell me, where are your other accomplices?"

Eryk was very short of breath and almost exploded because he was caught in the roots and tendrils of the plant.

"I don't know what you're talking about. You're wrong. I don't understand anything. I'm just a homeless who digs food out of the trash," Eryk said with shortness of breath.

"I witnessed you being chased by a girl in an alley. You lured her to a deserted place. Once you get it, you take the girl's life by killing the summoned spirit! Hand me the summoned spirit you took from her!"

Eric stared in disbelief. He thought of the figure of a man dressed all in black running along the alley and a girl chasing him not long ago. Eryk glanced at his own body. He also wore an all-black outfit.

"You recognized the wrong person!" Eryk hissed at the girl.

The girl in the red qipao didn't care. She stood towering in front of Eryk. Her left hand was raised to the sky and a thorny tendril sprouted from her palm.

"If the tip of this thorn plant penetrates your heart, then you will die in just a second. You better tell me before I can't control my hands and stab your heart."

The plant tendrils began to emerge from her palm. They were ready to jump into Eryk's chest, constantly pounding extraordinarily. Eryk's eyes widened, imagining the speed with which the plant wanted to penetrate his heart.
