Chapter 10

Once Richardson accompanied the matured looking man back

Into his study, the next thing the man uttered, made Richardson stumble a little in shock, right before he slumped into his seat.

“So… since you’re the only child of my son, it means you’re the heir to the Wilson’s empire.” Was the words which the matured looking man had said, which sent Richardson’s brains reeling.

It wasn’t the first time he’d be hearing about the Wilson’s empire. From what he had been able to gather from social media, he knew the Wilson’s empire was large and very successful.

He had gotten bullied in school, when he was younger – for sharing the last name of an empire and living a lifestyle that was the complete opposite of the empire itself.

What was completely unbelievable to him, was how he had somehow turned out to be the heir of that same empire.

“What?” Richardson whispered, still reeling in shock.

“You’re the heir of the Wilson’s empire.” The man repeated himself, a little bit louder this time, and Richardson’s breath hitched for a moment.

“I’m the heir of this entire estate which we’re currently in right now? Holy shit, that’s so crazy.” Richardson echoed out with widened eyes.

The matured looking man looked at Richardson like he was suddenly spewing out rubbish.

“This estate? No, I didn’t mean this estate.” The man tried clarifying, and Richardson’s brows furrowed in confusion.

“I meant– you’re the heir to everything beneath the Wilson’s empire, not just this estate.”

Richardson’s mouth parted in shock. “Oh.”

The bewilderment he was feeling was noticeable on his face and in his voice.

The man chuckled a little, and then he beaconed on Richardson. “Come on, son. Let me give you a little tour around while I explain some things to you.”

Richardson walked with the man, and that was when the man finally informed Richardson of his name.

His name was Damian, but unsurprisingly, he pointed out that he’d prefer and be honored if Richardson referred to him as ‘grandfather’.

Richardson didn’t make any promises, because he wasn’t sure he was ready to refer to him as his grandfather just yet.

As they walked, the man explained how the empire worked, and how there are a lot of firms and brands underneath it. Richardson’s jaw was wide open throughout the tour, not just because of how breathtaking the entire place looked, but because of all that Damian was explaining to him.

And, by the time they returned to the study, Richardson had to sit down for a moment due to him feeling a little bit overwhelmed.

Damian promised to give him a book which contains the entire firms and brands beneath the Wilson’s empire and Richardson thanked him for that.

Richardson thanked him for reaching out to him when he had done, and for also getting him out of jail, but Damian only brushed those words aside and instead thanked Richardson for forgiving him so easily.

Richardson was left to reflect on all what he had just found out about himself, and once again, Richardson couldn’t believe that all of these was real.

He tried to pinch himself just to confirm if he wasn’t dreaming, and a long sigh eased out of him after he had pinched himself.

He couldn’t believe how it seems like his life has indeed turned around in only a few hours. It was still hard for him to wrap his head around the fact that he was the only heir of the Wilson’s empire.

When Damien ended up returning back to Richardson, he was with a book which he instantly handed to Richardson. It was more like a file, and the edges of it were designed with golden cursives.

On the middle spot of the front of the file, stated in bold letters, was ‘THE WILSON’S EMPIRE FIRMS, PARTNERSHIPS, BUSINESSES, COMPANIES, VENTURES AND BRANDS’ in a bold, elegantly cursive that made Richardson feel unworthy to touch this said file right now.

Richardson ended up gathering his wits and then he carefully flipped the book open.

If Richardson thought he had been shocked and taken aback all those while, then there was no existing word to perfectly describe the emotion that gripped Richardson as his bulging eyes took in the content of the first page of the file.

It only took a few fleeting second for Richardson to realize that the content of the file – which was the entire things underneath the Wilson’s empire– were all arranged in an alphabetical order.

And, the entire first page of the file alone took up the letter ‘A’ and still continued into the second and third page, leaving Richardson breathless from the entire emotion coursing through his veins in that moment.

The more Richardson read, the more his eyes widened as more intense shock kept overtaking him on realizing that he recognized some of the companies and firms listed in the file as extremely successful and popular companies.

It didn’t help that there’s a lot of subtopic beneath most of the companies, firms and brands listed in the file, which contained at least ten to fifteen other branches and side firms of each separately listed company, firms and brands.

It completely took Richardson aback when he recognized the company which he recently got sacked from, as one of the hundreds of companies underneath the Wilson’s empire, and Richardson almost felt dizzy at that moment.

There were a lot of popular clothing brands which included fashion show firms, beneath the Wilson’s empire, and Richardson couldn’t believe his eyes the more he read.

There were a lot of hospitals, restaurants, universities, high technologies, real estates, popular social media apps, and many more. Richardson’s head was spinning at this point.

When Richardson got to the letter ‘Z’ part of the file, he wasn’t expecting to start seeing each company being ranked from the least to the most successful on the exact next page.

Richardson’s eyes bulged when he saw the sum of ‘one hundred billion dollars’ beside the company and subgenres which was the least successful on the entire list.

Richardson wasn’t sure he wanted to see the money the most successful company eneath the empire was generating, but he ended up checking due to his curiosity– and his mouth fell open on seeing the generated revenue so far.

Three trillion dollars.

That made Richardson instantly slam the file shut while his heart thud hard against his chest.

Three trillion dollars?? From just one company and its subgenres?

If Richardson decides to add the entire sum of money his eyes had come across while quickly scamming the entire page, he was sure the money would be over ten trillion dollars altogether.

Richardson couldn’t believe that all of that was beneath the Wilson’s empire, which automatically now belongs to him.

“You mean… all of this, is now… mine?” Richardson whispered in a strained voice while glancing up at Damien who was sitting at the head of his desk.

Damien had a relaxed expression on as he nodded his head, as he pushed a piece of document at Richardson.

“It’s all yours, if you’d just sign on this paper, then all of that will be automatically beneath your name.”
