Fourteen: 逃げる (The Escape)

"Hey!"

He shouted; and quickly I blew a fist at him, knocking him out.

The other guards came at me while I punched the first guy in the face while elbowing the other one in his stomach.

"Stop right there!"

Coming out of the dark is the woman again, wearing another flowing outfit.

The other guys flocked in beside her as if there was a huge commotion.

"Let this old man go, or I'll kill each one of you," I said.

They all busted into laughter, while the guards winced in pain.

"On one condition."

The woman looked me up and down.

"This man will only leave if you fought all these guys and you have shown me what you got."

I smirked. "That's alright with me."

The bald guy stepped in closer.

He threw a fist at me.

I raised my head, striking back to his chin and punching his stomach.

He flew back.

"Ow!"

He whined.

"Is that all you got?"

says the other one.

Goodness, if they want me dead, they could have shot me right now.

The other guy even undressed his coat and started playing punch gestures.

The power raging inside me is like a bull ready to kill and smash anyone who tried to hurt me.

I could never imagine how strong I got to be when I ran up to him and pushed him to the ground, and threw another punch in both of their faces, yelling in pain.

"Stop,"

The woman finally insisted.

"Let the old man go, we already got what we wanted from him."

It probably must be his suitcase.

Poor old man.

At least if this is over, he will finally be alive.

The guards opened up the gates for the man to head out.

He slowly ran in the dark and I also went after him.

"You,"

"Stay right there."

The woman caressed my hair as I drew back.

"I'm impressed by your skills."

"Where are you from?"

I'm just from around here, Sandhill town.

"Oh."

"And what's your job?"

All I need is to go home right now, I tell her.

"My, you've got a fighting spirit. I like that," she says.

If ever you need big money, just reach out to me.

My name is Vicky, and I own this place. I own a lot of corporations.

No wonder she's rich off of stealing people's money. I thought.

She tilted her head upwards.

But I'm not a bad person, I told her.

"I know, my dear. We will fight off bad people too."

I nodded, racing towards the gates.

She asked the guards to let me out, and I ran as fast as possible to find the old man.

I saw him near the gas station two miles away.

"Hey!"

He turned around and saw me.

"Hi. I'm glad you made it out."

"Oh, thank you. Thank you very much, my son," he said.

Did they take something from you?

"Yes, little money here and there. But don't worry, that's only a little. Thank you for saving my life," he cried.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you up there, it's such a mess."

"I had been both a good and bad person too," he started.

"But now I guess that's just a price I needed to pay. Life gives you shit sometimes."

"You were powerful back there. Stay that way," he winked at me.

I smiled.

What's your name, sir?

"My name is Louis, son."

I shake his hand. My name is Shin.

I offered him a ride home and we grab a taxi.

We kept in touch when he needed some help to do errands sometimes at his huge house and gave me double my pay at Barry's, as he persisted.

With my earned money I was able to buy myself a motorcycle.

I never returned to that warehouse again.

"One white mocha latte and a slice of that blueberry cheesecake please," I nodded at the man wearing a black hat as another teenage girl waiting in line smiled, blushing at me.

I smiled back.

"Alright, sir. That would be seven dollars and twenty-five cents."

"Sure."

I watched him reach for his wallet and handed the money to me, while I gave him his change.

Your order will be ready after around five minutes, sir.

"Yep. That's fine with me."

My day went on like that until 4 pm. I remember how yesterday, I saw a girl in uniform heading back home which was dark.

I looked at her and she also stared at me the same way.

I was kind of worried about her if she came home because nobody was around at that time.

She looked tired and pale, but shining bright her fair skin and beautiful face stood out the most. I was struck by Cupid's bow. I only hoped she was safe.
