Chapter 3

In agony, the hippoLisa screamed.I didn't hear anything else for about a minute after that.My body, however, miraculously remained unharmed.I did not experience a large beak or talons attacking my body.It actually went down on its claws as it looked back at the hippoLisa, its massive body trembling.Yeah, I'm sure that hurt.I made my way slowly up to the wing and used the wooden cast to hold the ropes in place.I did this in such a way that it still had the option of putting the wing against its body or extending it.Flight, on the other hand, was out of the question.I tried to stroke its enormous feathered head after it was done. The quivering subsided after a few minutes, and the strange cooing resumed.Lisa, thank you for not breaking my body.It raised its head and began rubbing against my chest after hearing that.I swear this hippoLisa has some understanding of me!Isn't that interesting?Lisa received the last bit of dried meat I had and I gave it to her. While squawking at me softly, it readily accepted.Lisa is clear to me.It is similar to what I experienced earlier in the day.Let's head somewhere a little safer, okay?Lisa stood up and looked at me as a result.I look around and see a small rocky hill close to us.Lisa was with me as I walked there.I saw a small coral with shallow walls in a few minutes. We will not find a more suitable location than this.Lisa was coaxed to the coral's backside by me, and he laid down.At that point, I realized Lisa wasn't a he but a she.I'm sorry about the commenter, girl.I sat back against a large rock beside her as she lay down. Her enormous beaky head was in my lap after another minute.Yes, she was exhausted. In fact, I was as well; I felt like I was falling asleep with my bones worn out.I recalled what had happened to me as I fell asleep.First, I wake up among the dead, and then I realize I don't know who I am or what I'm made of.The next step was to spend hours walking through a tunnel before emerging into the countryside, struggling not to be depressed or lonely. Finally, I found this hippoLisa, helped it, and got hit in the head with a hoof for my troubles. All I did was become friends with another beast that was sleeping in a rocky coral.Overall, I consider myself fortunate that I was awoken from my sleep by the morning sun.Because I still had Lisa's head in my lap, I knew last night wasn't a dream.I scratched her head with my lower hand. The only reason it moved was to make her head feel more at ease in my lap.Isn't it funny how things work out?I heard the scream at that point.

The scream that came from behind us broke the morning silence. It wasn't right at us, but it was pretty close.Lisa immediately rose, but then I noticed that she was struggling. She had an injury close to that wing; The wing had a broken arrow shaft sticking out. However, I did not immediately worry about that. That scream was it.Another scream followed by a significant growl was heard.I also got up and hurriedly moved in the direction of that scream.

I saw a small figure of a young boy running away from us in the distance.A wolf stood in the boy's shadow. However, this wolf was enormous. It had a head as big as a bear's and stood five feet tall at the top of the hump. It had pale grey fur.The boy was being chased by a worg, not a wolf. The boy had a good lead, but the massive worg's strides would quickly reduce that lead.In a split second, I made up my mind.I made a hasty dash for the boy.Lisa was also moving quickly, trying to catch up to me.However, looking back, she faltered.I was aware that she has not yet regained her strength.Regardless, I turned back to the boy who was still running straight at me and said, "This way!Come to me!The young man gave me a nod and fled as quickly as he could. However, I was aware that the boy would be overtaken by the worg before I could even miss him by a few feet.I raised my arm back and pulled out my hatchet.Duck!”I let the hatchet fly as soon as the boy fell.

This time, I had no luck at all, despite having a hoof print on my forehead last night. The massive worg was struck by the hatchet, which flew straight ahead and embedded its blade in the right side of the skull, just above the eye.The boy's scream was replaced by the worg's, its ferocity indicating its agony. The worg was stopped from running toward the boy, but it did not sink. And I was sure it wouldn't.It is painful but not fatal, like hitting someone with a horseshoe nail.Running never stopped for me;Actually, I forced my legs to pump more quickly. We both fell to the ground as a result of my momentum surpassing the boy's size as I jumped over him and crashed into his body.

Both my hatchet and being knocked over offended the worg.It had a tremendous amount of fierce strength, which the pain made even stronger. My hands were squeezing the worg as I latched onto it from behind, my arms interlocked just below the front paws.My grip became loose after a few seconds, and I was unable to hold it in place.I immediately stood up and raised my sword. The worg also came back and snarled at me as it lowered to the ground.I was rewarded with a steady gush of blood that blinded the right eye and dripped down the head of the worg after the hatchet worked itself out of its skull.I was watching him evaluate me.Now, this animal would pose a serious threat.Worgs are more clever and intelligent than their smaller relatives. While the claws could quickly and easily tear livestock hide to shreds, the row of teeth looked more like a collection of small daggers. And here I was, naked and unarmed, wielding a sword and putting it between myself and the worg. How did I find myself in these predicaments?

Waiting was too much for the worg.As it charged toward me, it had finished assessing me.I dodged the attack by ducking and turning to my side.I was standing a few feet away when the worg landed and quickly turned around.Once more, I held the blade between us.I ducked and turned to the side as it leapt once more. The worg came to a brief halt.I suppose it wasn't used for preying on me.The prey would either flee from it or confront it head-on.It appears to be perplexed by my straightforward methods.I was curious about its next move.I didn't have to wait long. The worg made a quick jump, landed on its front paws, and then swung his back around, coming right into my face.I followed it, rolled through, and stood up.When I kept the blade between us once more, the worg paused, expecting me to be on the ground.Once, it barked at me.

Was the worg merely cursing at me?This is what I would anticipate if it were a human opponent. But an enormous wolf?Is that possible? After that, I gave Lisa a brief thought.Yes, it is attainable.Another thing stood out to me.The worg got in the way of me and the boy who was still lying on the ground a few yards away.Did the beast intend to do this?

Again, it quickly responded to my question as it ran after the boy.I yelled and ran after the worg out of frustration.I'm sorry! Before I could reach the worg, it would reach the boy! However, neither I nor the group considered the following additional aspect of this difficult equation:Lisa.

Lisa had caught up, so when the worg turned to get to the boy, she jumped into the air and came down first, beak first. The worg's straight head was impaled by that magnificent beak. The worg fell to the ground lifeless after a horrible, bone-crushing sound was heard. It was a quick, clean kill! After a brief moment of shock, I stopped running and put away my crude sword.I awaited Lisa's subsequent actions.I didn't have to wait long.Lisa began to rip into the body as she moved over to its hindquarters.Lisa began eating breakfast with the worg's body as a way to celebrate.I avoided Lisa and moved toward the boy, not knowing how she would react.I spotted my hatchet, grabbed it, and put it away as I went.

When I got closer to the boy, I realized that it was actually more like a human youth—a teenager, but not yet an adult. He must have been thirteen or fourteen, in my opinion. The young man slowly stood up, with freckles, shoulder-length sandy hair, and a small frame. In addition to witnessing Lisa's feasting on the worg's body, his eyes were also on me.

"I'm grateful, sir dwarf.Certainly, I believe you are a dwarf. However, you are too big to be a dwarf.Yes, I should probably get used to that.

Yes, I am a dwarf, child.Canutt is my name. What is your nickname?

"I am Steve, Steve Randoss," he says.

Steve Randoss: "Well, Steve, what were you doing when you got this worg's attention?"

“Please, just Canutt, okay?” "Sir Canutt, I was tending sheep when..."Remove the "sir" part.

"Yes, sir, referring to Canutt. In any case, I was caring for the sheep on my father's farm. Each of my brothers and I rotates. My turn to care for the sheep came today.I was afraid when this enormous wolf appeared. But I didn't want to let my brothers or father down.I therefore pursued the worg. However, when it clenched its teeth onto it, it broke my staff. After a brief spell that put it to sleep, I fled. However, the spell ended, and it fled after me.Because I could feel the fangs biting into me, I ran and ran, thinking I was going to die.I screamed, and then I saw you and ran to you when I saw you.
