Chapter 2 : Escape (2)

The evolvers all emerged on an open field of land outside base F3 and continued to trot in the direction of three raws of ships that were stationed at the beaches of the island. This was their final opportunity to escape the island and avoid becoming a weapon under the control of "the force".

  After the ships were brought into position as rapidly as possible, they immediately borded it made sail in the opposite direction of the island.

  The typical kids in the neighborhood would not have been able to pilot the sophisticated ships successfully, however, the evolvers are not like other children in any way; they have access to a vast technological and scientific information  which enables them to carry out tasks that no other person in their age is able to do.

  As they set sail, the kids were pleased beyond measure, and they cheered with joy. They have been held captive at base F3 since the day they were kidnapped, and ever since that day, they have had a dream that one day they will be free again.

  That wish has finally come true. However, there are occasions when things are bound to get worse just when they start getting better, and this is one of those situations.   Some of the youngsters are soon to be placed in jeopardy.

    Back inside of base F3, the environment resemble a living nightmare due to the numerous charred bodies that littered the place and the roaring fire that burned the ground. It seemed as though no one had made it out alive, yet some miraculous event allowed someone to make it out alive.

  Because of a protection system, the elderly man named steven with the gray hair who now had a burn on the right side of his face was able to survive the rocket explosion.

  The system of base F3 took him away underground just in time to prevent him from being killed by the explosion.

   After he emerged from the tunnel, he found himself in a control room that was located underground and was lit in white.

  After he had completed what was needed of him, practically instantly, a hologram of a man with a beard materialized in front of him.

  "Sir, we have an emergency…"

 "The explosion has left the central unit ineffective as well as rendered the collars on the evolver unworkable; the children have broken free and fleeing the base, and they are currently making their way off the island in our ships,"

"What the hell, if they get away, all of the work I've done in my entire life is going to be wasted, and that's something that we can't let happen!" An obscenity came out of the mouth of the elderly man with the white hair once he heard the report.

  After that, the white haired man yelled at the hologram in a very forceful manner while turning his attention to it with a serious expression on his face. "The Force developed the evolvers, which are a new class of weapons, with the intention of making us more powerful. If such asset get out of our control, then it is in our best interest to wipe them off before they develop into a potential danger to us in the future. Launch the laser cannon and obliterate them all!"

 "I am sorry sir, but it is not possible to murder each and every one of them. Since the central unit has been taken out of commission, we won't have enough power to fire our weapons more than once to take down more than one of the escaping ships."

  "Damn, fuck, fuck, fuck it!, point the cannon in the direction of any vessel in which Zero may be hiding, and fire into it; there is no way that we can take the chance of letting her go free with the rest. she is just too significant and dangerous."

  "Yes, sir, but don't you think you're being a little too dramatic? Zero has not demonstrated any evidence of power, and it is possible that the experiment was a bust!"

    "Shut up, I made her and I know how special she is; if she isn't under our control, then she absolutely must not at all remain alive regardless of the cost; even if it means sacrificing this base, she must not at all remain alive!" Steve remarked with ruthlessness and conviction.

  "Understood!" The hologram gave a salute to the man and heed the orders.

   A security camera was positioned outside of base F3 in a region that was undamaged by the explosion focused its attention on the various ships that were evacuating the area.

   It took one minute for it to search each ship until it spotted  zero, the person it was looking for, hidden among the youngsters on the third ship.

  A huge laser gun appeared on the roof of base F3 all of a sudden, and it immediately locked onto the ship that was positioned in the middle of the other ships where zero was stationed.

"Terget loked, open fire!"

The laser cannon abruptly fired, sending a blazing beam in the direction of the sailing ship which was its intended target.

  When the beam got closer, it sounded like the end of the world, and the children who had just recently recovered their freedom and were ecstatically reveling within the ship became paralyzed with fear as it grew closer.

The evolver gathered up and combined their powers to stop the beam from destroying the sailing ship but their efforts were in vain; at best, they were only able to slow down the rate at which the beam was travelling.

   When the beam entered the ship at full force, it obliterated everything that it came into contact with. When any of the children came into contact with the laser beam, they were instantly turned to ashes and some severely burned beyond recognition.

  As the children disintegrated into ashes, a sequence of sirens that sounded one after the other in rapid succession, terrifying all of the other children, including those who were on the other ships. Nevertheless, right as the beam neared zero, there was a sudden and unexpected turn of events that took place.

  The little girl did not move and possessed no emotion as she stood on her own two feet; yet, an unfathomable psychic force emerged from her body and fought the blast.

  Because of the incorporeal thelephatic force that was generated from her body was potent, it was able to freeze the approaching laser beam and prevent it from getting any closer to her. This took place at the same time as everyone around her was being converted to ash.

  All of the children who were traveling on the other ships, as well as the individuals who were responsible for the attack, were left in utter disbelief as a result of this event because none of them had ever imagined that they would ever have the opportunity to witness something as incredible in their entire lives.

Right know, it is clear that zero's powers are substantially superior to those of the other evolvers because she was able to halt an attack all by herself while a large number of other evolvers working together were unable to accomplish so. Even by the standards of monsters, she was a frightening individual.

   However, as all of the other children reeled in amazement and in disbelief, a shot moment later, another turn of event took place, the telepathic power that had been around her quickly ebbed and dissipated, behaving either like an ember or more like the sun's final brilliant rays as it sets.

  When the telephatic force disappeared, the laser kept rushing towards her and eventually blasted into, not just her but also the other children who had been watching anxiously behind her.

  After crashing into the children, It crashed into the ship at full speed, causing it a significant amount of damage in the process. Finally, the ship exploded into bits right in front of the eyes of the other evolvers, and many of the shards of the vessel ended up plunging into the body of water.

 The other children on board the other ships steered their vessels faster to quickly escape from the close proximity of the island in order to avoid being blasted and ending up like Zero and the other but to their surprise, no other attack came after that.

Nevertheless, they didn't set their minds at ease until they were very far from the island, then they broke into cheers once more, zero and the other victims of the blast were forgotten because no one thought that any of them can survive the blast.
