13 || Worse Than Death.

Edward’s POV.

She hit my arm for the umpteenth time with a sharp glare. “Why the hell did you think it was okay to die?” She whisper-yelled.

Because I was reminded of my darkest moments until I saw you. I thought to myself as I drank in every feature of her lovely face. Although she had a scowl at the moment, she was still beautiful, almost too beautiful.

Right after the bus passed I told Caleb and Mitch to go to the gatekeeper's house and rejoined them after locking the gate. I had missed being breakfast for the swarm by a mere second. Whenever I was late and had to sneak in, I’d follow through his place.

If my thoughts were free of the trauma my mum had put me through and I planned to live, then I would have remembered earlier. But at least, I remembered, no matter how late. Chloe had been hitting the same spot since we reunited with them and reprimanding me as quietly as she could when mad.

She figured out what I was previously up to when I told her goodbye. She hit the spot again,
