Chapter 5

"Mr. Zelvagas, is it okay if we left her that way?" asked a red-blood maid who worked as a housekeeper in Mauver's house. Mauver, standing in front of the window and staring outside, replied without turning his body around.

"Yes, let it go. I will take care of anything else. Thank you, Eleanor," he replied as he researched his vast garden that was beginning to go unattended.

It's time to re-hired a gardener to take care of the garden as well as the plants that are there.

Mauver turned around and squealed a step toward Fiona's room. There, the girl was still lying weak and pale. This is something that has never happened before, especially in his house. Is this girl hallucinating?

A few days of nightmares and then as if chased by something. Is it possible for the dark blood to make it inside his house?

Mauver seemed to be thinking. If there was a dark-blood man in his house, there was no way he wouldn't have noticed it. Moreover, entering the environment of a blue-blood is not an easy job for that group.

Mauver sighed. Is it possible that Viona, who has the privilege of being a pure-blood candidate she dark-blood feels disturbed if Mauver succeeds in doing a match with him?

The girl who was lying down was squeaking. His head turned weakly to the right and left, a sign that he was back to having nightmares like before. Mauver immediately sat at the side of the bed and grabbed the girl's fingers.

"You have nothing to fear, Viona; I'm here," Mauver said, trying to calm her down. And indeed, before long, Viona had returned soundly without interruption. Then, Mauver finally decided to spend the night in the girl's room to make sure she was safe until morning fall.

***

Viona woke up and winced when a glimmer of sunshine snarled through the curtain gap in her room. Not too bright and dazzling, just making herself realize that she had been asleep long enough.

Her body still felt pain in some parts, as well as her head. However, she was glad last night didn't have a terrible dream.

She just remembered being in another dimension as usual and heard Mauver's voice calming her down. Then she came back with a beautiful dream.

And this morning, finding Mauver sitting at her bedside made her realize and be sure that what had happened before was not an ordinary dream. The proof, accompanied by Mauver, is that she no longer has nightmares.

The man realizes that Viona has awakened, perhaps in a daze after what happened to her.

"Good morning," greeted the man as Viona opened her eyes, fully conscious. "Is your body still sick?"

"Y-yes, my head still hurts, and ... My body feels like it's crushed. What happened to me? Why did they bother me in the first place? Is this all pure blood, or is it just me?"

Mauver just drowned hearing Viona's question. Of course, he didn't know; he was even astonished by everything that had happened to Viona some time ago.

As Viona said, the disturbance came even from the very beginning the girl came into her house. There must be something wrong. It's because he doesn't know what it is.

"I don't know. I want to ask you the same thing. Because you're my first pure-blood candidate, there's not much I know about this. Sorry."

Viona was stunned to hear Mauver's reply. Not an answer but the same form of confusion that has been bothering her mind.

She wanted to ask her father, but once out of the hexagon barrier, you'll never be able to return. It's been almost a week since Viona was here. It's impossible to back down.

"Why don't you help every time they bother me? You can read my mind and enter into a pure-blood dream."

Mauver paused for a moment. He looked at her face with that frightened expression, then sighed.

"You know the answer, Viona. You haven't become pure-blood. I can read your mind, but I can't get into your dreams if you haven't officially become pure-blood. You haven't been confirmed, remember?"

Viona nodded. "Is it the only way you can help and protect me?" asked the girl again. Mauver again nodded convincingly.

Of course. What else can Mauver do besides make it pure blood through confirmation and unification? As long as it hasn't happened, Mauver can only be outside Viona.

He won't be able to protect her if the danger comes through dreams or other dimensions.

"But isn't blue-blood able to break through the hexagon barrier to save the new-bloods? Doesn't that mean you can break through the dimensional boundary to save me?"

"That's a different concept, Viona; please understand. In essence, this strengthening and unification are indeed needed. You will be confirmed to be my food source, mine. And I have to protect you."

Viona sighed at Mauver's explanation. That meant that at any time, if she hadn't become pure-blood, then the disturbance would continue to chase her.

The only that bothered her mind was why did it happen? She was just an ordinary human without privileges; why would they have to try so hard to eliminate her?

"Mauver, is that ... hurts?" asked the girl innocently. Although she had received some information from relatives who became pure-blood, she was still afraid to imagine what the inaugural process would be like.

And what it's like when the sharp fangs penetrate the skin's surface, then the vampire sucks most of the blood she has. Just imagining it made the girl tremble.

The man laughed. "So that's what you're afraid of? Are you afraid that the process is painful?" Viona nodded, making the man burst back. He had never met a girl with such an incredible sense of humor.

"You'll know later. And again, this inaugural procession is not something that should be celebrated like a wedding celebration. It's just you and me, in any mood, with just one bite, then it is ...," Mauver said quietly as he brought his face closer to Viona, who shuddered in horror at the thought of what the man was saying.

Mauver patted Viona's forehead. "Don't think of anything weird, Viona. However, blue blood and pure blood can have a special relationship but don't ever imagine it. Unless you want it." Again Mauver read Viona's mind.

"It's impolite, you know?!" hissed the girl to the mauver's chuckling.

"Well, I think you're okay if I leave. I'm going to the office now, and you have to stay here. Many servants will accompany you, and you can ask them for anything." Mauver got sick and was about to leave, but Viona blocked her arm to bring the man to a standstill.

"Please don't leave me alone. Please, do it now. Do whatever it takes so you can protect me. I'm afraid, Mauver. Please ...," she asked with teary eyes and implied extraordinary horror.

Mauver can read that. However, he was not hungry and wanted to bite anyone at this time. Especially after a few days of seeing Viona constantly circulating him, making him feel even more affectionate to scratch the girl's smooth skin.

"But ...."

"Please, Mauver ...." Viona turned her face to the side and curled her long hair. It shows the pulsating side of the neck, where the blood vessels are located.

She closed her eyes, waiting for Mauver to stick a sharp fang and tear her skin apart. She imagined a short horror but the next surrendered and was willing to do whatever Mauver would do to her.

As long as she gets complete protection from the man.

Mauver, who initially did not feel thirsty or hungry, suddenly felt that feeling simultaneously, as there was a tempting scene in front of his eyes.

He swallowed his saliva, between trying to resist the feeling of wanting to devour the girl, as well as because of another temptation that came out of nowhere.

Mauver slowly approached, unable to hold back and avoid what was presented in front of him. The iris of his eyes turned dark blue, and fangs hidden initially unseen had now poked out and flashed.

Ready to tear whatever it is.

Viona herself can feel the atmosphere suddenly turning silent and gripping. Not wanting to wait too long, Mauver got closer to Viona's side of the neck. She was sniffing out the seductive scent of blood.

Another scent was no less tempting, but he put it aside first to perfect the delayed confirmation.
