Chapter 4

Alice walked out of the cave leaving Matias and Mr. Diaz, the old blacksmith. Matias couldn't take her to where the wolves were, because no one knew for sure where they were hiding. However, Father Santiago managed to draw a map the night before he was found dead with his internal organs bursting out. All the villagers believed that Father drew the map for a reason. This is because Sister Anne saw Father praying for several nights in the church basement without stopping. Father also dreamed several times of a travel route that led him to a place where the Lycan horde was located.

The hot weather made Alice stop her journey several times. Unfortunately, she had no proper place to take shelter. Thankfully, after a long journey, she saw a forest area. The map line was heading that way!

Alice smiled excitedly. Soon, she would leave that cursed place. Or maybe a little longer. There was only a quarter of water in her bottle. She hoped that she could find a river or spring in the forest later. If not, then she would probably die for the first time in this place.

Thirty minutes passed, but to Alice, it seemed like thirty days. Finally, she came to the edge of a green-looking forest. Alice breathed in the fresh air, after so long of only getting the hot wind and air of an arid place. She casually and relievedly laid down on the grass while closing her eyes.

"Aaaah!" cried Alice as something suddenly fell right on top of her face.

She tried to get whatever it was off her face and quickly stood up. Alice was shocked to see a grasshopper the size of an adult's palm!

At this moment, another mantis suddenly appeared at Alice's feet. Upon seeing Alice's face, it rushed towards her head. Alice quickly dodged it. Suddenly another mantis appeared and landed on her head.

Alice kept trying to dodge and throw them as far away as possible.

It seemed that these locusts would only attack the head. The other locusts kept coming. And made Alice feel overwhelmed.

"Megan, give me the knife!" Alice ordered.

"Request accepted. Five points deducted."

A 30-centimeter-long knife suddenly appeared in Alice's hand. Without hesitation, Alice pulled the knife out of its sheath and aimed it at the locusts that were trying to attack her. One by one, the locusts died with their bodies cut off and heads severed.

Alice managed to kill 52 locusts quickly. But on the other hand, she was also very exhausted. Alice took a deep breath to recover her strength.

"Congratulations, Alice! You managed to add 5 points."

Alice felt satisfied and smiled. She looked around, fearing that there might be another belligerent about to attack. But she didn't see anyone or anything. Alice didn't want to waste any time, so she continued her journey.

Alice walked deeper and deeper into the forest. There wasn't the slightest fear in her heart considering this was a virtual world. However, Alice's life was at stake in this place.

As she went deeper, the atmosphere of the forest began to change. There were more chirping birds and sounds of nature. When looking around, Alice's eyes fell on a partridge. The chicken, sensing that someone was looking at it, immediately turned around. Sure enough! He saw Alice who was looking at him. Her animal instincts frightened the partridge and it quickly ran away.

Not wanting to waste the opportunity to get some food for the night, Alice immediately chased after it.

"Hey, that's mine!" someone shouted from behind.

Alice turned around and was so shocked that she almost fainted when she saw who was behind her!
